Your Last Straw

Summary:

Sanji is pissed at Zoro for something so inconsequential. Luckily, Zoro knows just what to do.

*this is inspired by a skit made on TikTok by “onlywayjose”. It was super cute and had me kicking my feet giggling along with him.

Work Text:

Sanji huffed out as he moved around the kitchenette of the ship. He was clearly frustrated and started to unceremoniously slam ingredients around as he prepared dinner. Zoro was sat down at the table, enjoying his tea until he noticed the attitude in Sanji’s body language.

“What’s wrong?” The swordsman asked out. He set his cup down and turned his body to face the cook.

“You know exactly what’s wrong-“ Sanji hissed out as he turned around to chop some vegetables. “You didn’t say goodnight properly last night-“

Zoro cocked an eyebrow at the cook in response. “Sanji- what are you talking about? I said goodnight to you before I went up in the crows nest to stand guard?” Zoro was confused. Usually, he would hug and kiss Sanji and tell him goodnight and hold him until they both fell asleep, but Sanji knew that they couldn’t do that when either of them had the night shift.

“You didn’t say it properly-“ Sanji curtly said, keeping himself turned away from the swordsman as he continued to prep dinner.

Zoro rolled his eyes and sighed out. He put his left arm on top of the table and propped up his head in his hand. He still looked directly at the cook who was ignoring him. “I don’t know what you mean by that-“ Zoro responded. “How did I say goodnight improperly?”

Sanji turned around quickly to face Zoro. His eyes shot daggers in his partners direction. “Everything you do is improper- Look at you now! You don’t even have enough manners to keep your elbows off the table-“ he complained while motioning the kitchen knife dramatically at Zoro.

Zoro took a deep breath and then got up from the table. It took him a moment, but he knew why the cook was acting this way. He started to move towards Sanji, but this did not stop the blonde from his ranting.

“And honestly Zoro if you don’t even know what you did why should I even tell you? I’m sick and tired of explaining everything for your pea sized brain to understand- This is quite literally your last straw-“ Sanji said as he placed the knife down and started to get closer to Zoro, looking for a fight.

Zoro stood just inches away from the blonde. They stared deeply into each other’s eyes. Sanji was pouting and held a fiery intensity within his ocean blue eyes. On the other hand, Zoro showed very little emotion. He was his calm stoic self, until a small smile started to tug at the corners of his mouth. “My last what?” he asked out, softly.

“Your last straw, you dumbass-“ Sanji said, as he moved to butt heads with the swordsman.

Zoro stood firmly in Sanji’s way and let the cook press his forehead against his own. His smile grew larger as Sanji continued to bitch at him. “Oh really? You said that about five straws ago-“

Sanji’s eyes widened and he pulled his head away from Zoro’s, so that he could see the shit eating grin on Zoro’s face. Sanji could feel the start of a heat in his cheeks and in his ears. How could he stay mad at Zoro when he smiled at him like that. “A-And?” Sanji stuttered out in surprise.

Zoro chuckled. His hands traveled to Sanji’s hips. His fingers looped inside the belt loops around both of his hips and he brought Sanji in closer, pressing their hips together. “How many more straws do I have left?” Zoro asked out sweetly in the minimal space between him and the cook.

Sanji’s heart picked up in speed as Zoro pulled him in close. Zoro’s touch still sent shivers down his spine even now, despite how many nights they’ve spent together. Sanji could feel the blush take hold and deepen. He couldn’t even pretend to be mad at Zoro anymore, knowing deep down he just wanted attention and affection. “I dunno- like two more?” He replied softly. Sanji moved to push his head against Zoro’s again, but this time gently enough to cherish the softness of his skin.

This response pulled a genuine laugh out of the swordsman. His laugh made the cook smile. Sanji wrapped his arms around the swordsman’s neck to pull himself even closer to him. Zoro hummed out, “You’re cute- and funny-“

“Shut up-“ Sanji responded. He melted under Zoro’s touch. He wished that he could always be this close to him.

Zoro pulled back slightly to look Sanji in the eyes. He smiled sweetly at his boyfriend. “How about I get a kiss, you know, to make up for missing the one last night?”

Sanji hummed out in feigned indecision before answering. “Nope, you snooze you lose, Mosshead-“ Sanji teased Zoro with a smile before staring at Zoro’s lips. Almost as if he was begging to be kissed.

“Well… can I get another straw then?” Zoro flirted back. This pulled a chuckle from Sanji. Zoro could be a little behind the curve when it comes to romance at times, but he sure knew how to make a man melt.

“No- but you can have that kiss-“ Sanji said as he moved a hand from around Zoro’s neck to cup his face. He gently pulled the swordsman in to a passionate and loving kiss. They both smiled and giggled throughout the kiss. Zoro ran his hands along Sanji’s body to cup his ass and pull him in closer. The kiss lingered on, almost as if they couldn’t get enough of each other.

Zoro pulled away first, almost breathlessly. “That was to make up for last night. And this one is just because-“ he said before leaning back in to meet Sanji’s lips with his own once again.
