For the longest time ever, Tsukasa and Mizuki had been VERY close friends. They hung out, did shopping sessions, helped eachother in everything... stuff like that. During those, Mizuki eventually started to develop feelings for Tsukasa. The thing is, she didn't know if Tsukasa liked girls or not. What if she was straight? What if she was homophobic? What if everything fell apart?
Mizuki threw these thoughts aside and invited Tsukasa to her house, to 'hang out'. Of course, Tsukasa agrees! While waiting for her, Mizuki puts on cute yet comfy clothes on herself, and ties her hair with a small ribbon. She got the snacks and room ready. Chips, candy, chocolate, other stuff... Just to give her dear crush a lot of options. She placed a lot of blankets on her bed, specifically very comfy and fluffy ones. She wanted everything to be perfect and cute. Just for Tsukasa.
She sat on the edge of her bed, swinging her legs impatiently. She thinks; should she just pretend everything is casual and hang out as usual? Or... should she finally confess her feelings? She groans softly. How did she even allow herself to fall in love with that idiot?!
While she was lost in thoughts, she heard the door bell ring. Finally! She stood up and quickly walked to the door, opening it to see Tsukasa. She was so pretty as ever. Her long blonde hair, her cute white ribbon, her clothing... gosh...
Tsukasa smiled, visibly oblivious: "Hey, Mizuki!" Mizuki smiled back, replying with "Welcome, Tsu! Get inside!"
Tsukasa stepped inside, still smiling as bright as ever. She walked to Mizuki's room, and giggled. "Did you set these all up for us, Mizuki? This looks so comfy!"
Mizuki followed behind her, eyes widening slightly when she heard Tsukasa's comment. She composes herself quickly, but a smile appears on her face. So she likes it... "It is comfy! Come on, sit down, I'll get the snacks for us!" Mizuki replies happily, leaving the room and going to the kitchen.
Her heart was beating like it was trying to escape her chest. Stupid Tsukasa, always making her feel like that, making her fall in love... She sighs shakily, grabbing the snacks and putting them on a tray. She picks up the tray and walks to her room, seeing Tsukasa sitting patiently and looking around. Her heart flutters at the sight. She sat down next to Tsukasa and placed the tray in front of them. "Do you want to watch or something, or should we talk?"
Tsukasa smiles and starts thinking. What could they do? Hm... Maybe watch a musical? That sounds nice! But for once, she wanted to talk with her best friend casually. She replies with a grin: "We can just talk!"
Mizuki's breath hitches slightly, but she quickly hides it. She nods and mutters: "So? What do we talk about?"
Tsukasa thinks again before saying "Let's ask eachother questions! Interesting ones! I start. Hm... if you could turn into a cat for a day, what color would you want your fur to be?"
Mizuki chuckles slightly at the random question and answers: "Probably orange! I ask now. Hm... what was the weirdest interaction you had with someone?"
Tsukasa hums, thinking about every interaction she once had. "Hmm... Probably my first meeting with Rui-" Mizuki chuckled softly. "You ask me now."
...
After a bit of playing, they run out of questions and just start snacking. While Tsukasa snacks, she over exaggerates stuff which makes Mizuki giggle or laugh. Mizuki takes a potato chip and eats it, but starts feeling a weird feeling inside her. She... She wanted to confess. But was scared. She stared down at the chip package on her lap. She wasn't even hungry anymore. She was filled with fear and a hint of love all at once.
Tsukasa notices Mizuki's unusual silence and the tension rising in the room. She gets a bit worried before muttering softly: "Hey, Mizuki. You're quieter than usual. Is something wrong?"
Mizuki looks up at her, smiles awkwardly, then looks back down. "Am I?"
Tsukasa nods before replying "Yeah! Tell me anything."
Anything, huh. It was easier to say than do. The awkward smile on Mizuki's face turns into a small frown. "Hey, I was thinking, do you think that it is bad for someone to like their best friend?"
Tsukasa pauses before shaking her head "No, I think that's more common than people let on." Then she smiles "It's not something bad or something to be ashamed of! We can't control who we love, can we?"
Mizuki nods then asks "Would the best friend be angry?"
Tsukasa shakes her head once again "Not really! Things might get awkward between the two friends, but I believe they'll understand!"
Mizuki smiles too, a wave of relief going inside her. But the smile drops. "Hey, what if..."
"Hm?"
"What if the best friend was you, Tsukasa?"
Tsukasa's eyes widened in shock, a shaky gasp escaping her lips. "...???"
Mizuki looked away in embarrassment, her cheeks warming up.
Tsukasa felt her own cheeks heat up too. She was actually speechless for once. She didn't know what to say or do. "I... I'm..."
Mizuki smiled a bit, but was nervous as fuck. "Take your time..."
Tsukasa nods.
"Huh?"
"Then... then the best friend would say yes!" She yells flusteredly, her hands shaking slightly in excitement.
Mizuki gasps in happiness, her eyes going wide. "...Really???"
"Y-Yes! Yes! I love you too, Mizuki!" Tsukasa said quickly, still blushing but now happier than anyone else in the world.
Mizuki smiled warmly, eyes still wide. She held Tsukasa's hands firmly. "Then... Then, can you be my girlfriend, Tsukasa?"
Tears of escapes Tsukasa's eyes, nodding enthusiastically.
Mizuki leans closer slowly, giving a time for Tsukasa to back up if she isn't ready. Seeing her not moving away, she closes the distance between down and kisses her softly.
They poured all of their unspoken emotions to the kiss. Tsukasa chuckled slightly between kisses, all soft and gentle, yet very emotional. Mizuki was the same, but as if she thought this moment would end when they broke the kiss. She doesn't want it to happen. So, she wraps her arms around Tsukasa's waist loosely but to make her feel she's there, scared of all of this ending. Meanwhile, Tsukasa cups Mizuki's cheeks softly, getting more comfortable in the kiss.
After a while, they finally broke the kiss. Tsukasa gasped for air, still flustered. Mizuki smiled against her lips, then nuzzled her neck, hugging her tightly.
"Please tell me this is real..."
"It is, Mizuki. I'm right here. Please, don't be scared any more, I love you so much."
"I love you too, Tsukasa..."
