Work Text:
Sam was fourteen during his first trip to the Smithsonian. It was a school trip to DC.
Sam took special interest in the Captain America exhibit. It wasn’t just the science or the patriotism or the heroics he was interested in, though he did find it fascinating.
Little closeted teenage Sam read between the lines on the display and saw through their faces in the footage. Captain Rogers and Sergeant Barnes were queer.
No tangible proof, but he was certain.
The childhood wonder came back tenfold when he met—no, was flirted with by—Steve Rogers.
He had been right.
