Work Text:
Harry and Hermione were cozy in bed early in the morning, finding comfort in each other’s warmth. Just a day before, they had returned from their lovely honeymoon in the Caribbean, which felt like a dream. Now, they felt relaxed as they moved back to the comfort of everyday life.
“Can we stay in bed a little longer?” Hermione yawned softly.
“We could,” Harry smiled. “But then I couldn’t make those blueberry pancakes you love.”
Hermione chuckled, her eyes warm with affection. “But you always burn them.”
“And you always eat them.”
Hermione chuckled again, leaning closer to Harry's warm embrace, feeling the steady beat of his heart. For a few minutes, they said nothing, savouring the moment between them. Eventually, Harry left the bed to make good on his promise.
Downstairs, Harry prepared the pancakes. He moved through the motions with ease, this time not burning them with a small smile playing on his lips. Hermione’s arms slipped around his waist as she kissed his cheek, and his ears flushed pink. A soft sizzle of batter filled the room.
The two ate in comfortable silence until they felt it–this remarkable, yet ordinary day was the start of everything.
And they couldn’t wait.
