Work Text:
Elliott was the hardest worker at the pizza place, basically the only worker in reality considering the only other person at Builder Brothers Pizza was the dumb manager and himself. He typically did everything unless the manager actually showed up and helped with the register once every neon event. Chance was a regular at the pizza place, and that's great! Well.. it would be IF THEY ACTUALLY PAID! They were in WAY TOO MUCH debt with the pizza place, but they always said they'd pay “sooner or later.” One day Chance came in for pizza while Elliott was in a particularly crabby mood already because he had to drive back and forth 3 separate times to stock everything and he had woken up late. “Heyy…Elii” Chance grinned slyly with that tone of theirs that showed they already were ready to bug Elliott. “Hello Chance..” Elliott sighed tiredly, knowing what bullshit they were about to pull on him. “Can I get a peppero–” “7.99” “Woah! Really good worker ain't ya’? Knowin’ what I want off the bat!” Chance put on that gross smile with their gold tooth showing. Elliott wondered if Chance's tooth was replaced by gold because of how much gosh damn pizza they eat in a single week. “Are you gonna pay?” “Awh.. I actually don't have any monneeyy. Hope you'd spare me one last time? Promise it's the last time!” Chance said that EVERY TIME. Elliott unfortunately had to oblige because his manager made him serve Chance with no questions, though he knew he was gonna get them back one day… somehow… probably not now that Elliott thinks about it considering he was only one guy on minimum wage with no friends nor near family.. eh oh well. After 2 more weeks of the same excuse (not counting the 100s of other times) Elliott finally snapped. He at first tried just forcing Chance to pay though that didn't work at all so he then tried blacklisting them from the pizzeria but rather the manager let them in anyways or they just didn't care or notice the sign. Elliott got so desperate to the point he straight up tried googling ways to get rid of bad customers. No help, though he did find some guy called.. Mafioso..? At first Elliott really didn't wanna just tell this random stranger he found in the corners of the internet about Chance, considering he had no idea who this man was but he also looked terrifying. It didn't help Elliott's nerves that he was as well a mafia boss apparently. After days and days and days of the same thing over and over again, Elliott finally caved and attempted to contact Mafioso. At first he got no answer though when he texted him that they knew Chance. Mafioso called Elliott in mere seconds. Elliott's heart thumped in his chest harder and harder with each word that rolled off Mafioso's Italian tongue over the speaker. His anxiety almost got him to hang up and go back to the routine, but that odd feeling bubbling in his gut made him push through the bustling thoughts and fears. Around a couple days later Elliott gets a call from Mafioso, saying he was in Robloxia and needed the address to the pizzeria. Elliott's heart jumped with shock and the hair on the back of his neck went up. He didn't expect him to ACTUALLY show up. Nonetheless a good feeling made Elliott give Mafioso the address. around an hour or so later a big, scarred man in a long trench coat and fedora came into the quaint local pizzeria in a small downtown city. He had a group behind him, all different heights, outfits, and obviously varying personalities. Elliott realized this guy was terrifying and wouldn't admit he almost went to the kitchen just to hide from him. “Aye’ yer’ the one that called?” Mafioso's accent was smooth and rich as he stared down the small man behind the counter. “Y-yes! Elliott Builder! Err.. uh just… Elliott..” Elliott was trying his best not to just crumble under the gaze of this guy. “Chance here yet?” Mafioso got straight to the point which Elliott greatly appreciated. “No, they typically arrive around 7 or 6..” It was 4 o'clock which gave Mafioso and his goons plenty of time to prepare, relax, and especially eat pizza. Elliott's never met a guy who was able to eat so much gosh damn pizza before. Even with Mafioso's goons he probably ate around 8 slices or so, with a bloxy cola on top of that. Elliott was offered to sit down with them multiple times, though he declined each time because he didn't wanna risk accidentally saying something wrong and getting on the bad sides of these walking murder machines. “Pizza boy! C'mon! Have a slice!!” Soldier grinned with pizza sauce all over his face, which Mafioso wipes off in a familial manner. “N-no thank you! I have to stay at the register” Elliott realized he was running out of excuses for not wanting to sit down with them. Eventually after an extremely slow 2 hours, Chance finally waltzed in, not even noticing Mafioso and the goons. “Just one pepperoni, Elii!” Chance put on that smile again, though this time it wasn't gonna slide. “7.99” Chance opened their mouth to say the typical, before they felt a familiar pair of leathered cold hands on their shoulders. Their smile faltered as the smell of alcohol and dirt came from behind them. They felt the presence of Mafioso's imposing form behind them. Considering the slightly concerned though grateful expression on Elliott's face. Chance realized this was all on Elliott. Elliott watched as Chance attempted to wriggle out of Mafioso's grip like a little bug caught by a net. They quickly failed and resorted to violence in a blink of an eye. Elliott had to duck under the counter because Chance ended up almost blasting Elliott's head clean off with an accidental shot of a gun. That “accident” enraged Mafioso which caused the whole fight. There was a lot of swearing, cursing, tables getting pushed and thrown, and occasionally the threat of a gunshot despite Chance being an idiot and not actually having a single bullet. Elliott saw Mafioso genuinely violent and angry for the first time which just made him even more scared of saying the wrong thing around the guy considering the situation Chance was in right now. Caporegime must've been the only one who noticed the poor pizza worker hiding behind the counter and practically having a panic attack, so he took Elliott to the back of the pizzeria, all the way to the boxes to try and comfort him (I added on afterwards wawaaawaw : 3) Caporegime had to shortly return to Mafioso after they finally knocked Chance out. Elliott heard the sound of clothes and body dragging against the soft wood floors. Elliott hoped and hoped they didn't kill Chance. Anything but that. Elliott peaked back into the main dining section. He saw only some blood, a shoe, an entire waist coat that was recognizably Chance's, and Solider cleaning up the strewn tables and chairs. Elliott didn't realize he was crying until warm wet streaks were felt on his cheeks and blurring his vision. Elliott was so scared. What if he just killed someone? What if he's gonna be known as the guy who let a crime happen? What if he's gonna be a criminal? What if nothing happens? Around half an hour later of just Elliott laying on the ground as an attempt to calm down, Mafioso returned. Elliott heard the clicking of his shoes and immediately tensed. He stayed silent and hugged the floor, though Mafioso inevitably found him. “Aye.. whats wrong?” Mafioso leaned over the counter to see the poor pizza boy laying face down on the ground like a pathetic critter. “Did you kill them?” Elliott managed to sniffle out. “Nah, we ain't killin’ them in yer’ establishment. ‘Specially with you right there.” Mafioso grabbed Elliott and straight up picked him up as if he weighed a single gram. Elliott immediately screamed an extremely unmanly scream then proceeded to freeze up. “yer’ shift is ova’.” Mafioso had an oddly relaxing smile… if there wasn't a scar right over his lip and that he was fully capable of crushing the man in his arms. Elliott asked no questions. He needed a break anyways.
