Katherine was done.
It started when she was born. Born into this world of F.A.T.A.L. Born into this world of terrifying debauchery and endless dice rolls. Born into slavery. And it only got worse as she grew older. She was sold off to some dirty kobold in a raffle after living her life in a decrepit barn, now she was to spend the rest of it in a slightly nicer barn, all alone.
The only bright spot was that she got to work with horses. Ah, horses. Both a blessing and a curse. She loved horses, one of the only things she did love, but every moment spent with them was a moment spent plagued by futile dreams of riding off into the sunset, far away from all of her kobold captors.
Alas, she was stuck. Stuck in slavery. Stuck in a barn. And now, stuck in a marriage she didn't want.
It could be worse, her new husband was nice, so very nice. And she knew he would never attempt to try anything, unlike some of the other men she had seen, both fellow slaves and free men. To her, they were all disgusting, all except Trewe, her new husband, and supposed ‘Trewe love’. But, still she dreamt of riding off, hopefully with someone she actually liked in her arms.

A year or two has passed, and Kat has assembled a plan. Well, not so much a plan as a vague idea that could possibly be construed as a plan of one were insane enough. But! She was going to make it work!
The ‘plan’ was this: slowly gather materials, like good clothing, and a bow, then, prepare a horse and some money, finally, ride off into the sunset.
What spurred this plan into existence? Why, the promise of a beautiful lady at the end of her journey, of course!
Alas, her plan had some kinks (get your head outta the gutter, this is fatal but it's not those kinks), the only thing she was able to acquire was a sack and a bandeaux. Which were… not good for escaping. And she still didn't have a bow.
But, she had no choice but to continue with her plan because she had overheard her master, Masahara, talking about selling her for more money.
So, she gathered up her meager savings, dressed in her sack and Bandeaux, and crept out to the stables. There, her masters fastest horse, Lightning, waited impatiently. He was already in full tack as she had prepared him earlier, so she quickly mounted him and prepared to depart.
But, before she could leave, Trewe ‘Nuke’ Norris came rushing in.
“Wait!” He cried softly, “please, before you go, take this! I know you don't like me, but Ive come to care for you anyway! It's all I have, but I need to help you!” He handed her 7 silver pieces, essentially his life savings, before opening the gate that led to the surface.
“... Thank you Trewe, for everything. And I'm sorry.” Was all Katherine said before she spurred Lightning and took off up the tunnel.
As she emerged onto the surface, it was just as shed always imagined it, a crimson sunset bathing the land in bloody reds. The winds howled along the plains and tousled her curly hair. All those years of gromming had led to Lightning’s coat being perfectly glossy and shining immaculately in the light.
However, there was one thing out of place. A grimy woman, strewn out on the ground, whimpering in pain.
Finally, her dream was true, she leant down and swept the woman into her arms, before spurring Lightning and taking off, disappearing into the sunset, once and for all.
