“Hurry up.” He groans.
Wemmbu’s tail sharply whips towards him—just barely missing his leg—before languidly flicking behind him again as if he didn't try to amputate him. His face is still plastered against the glass, like it has been for the past 15 minutes, and his once pitch black eyes are now a bright purple. Purple claws lightly scratch the glass—if Wemmbu wanted to, he could probably just pierce through it with his nails.
Wemmbu’s eyes are locked onto a smooth golden bracelet in the middle of the display, his pupils dilating every time the bracelet shines.
“Wemmbu, I have to get back to Lomedy.” Flame says, fed up with Wemmbu's infatuation with the stupid bracelet.
This time, Wemmbu actually acknowledges him with a roll of his eyes, instead of trying to handicap him. Their eyes lock, purple meeting the old black cloth where Flame’s eyes should be, and instead of standing up to leave, Wemmbu opens his mouth.
“You think that bracelet is too small for Egg?”
“What.” He deadpans.
Flame can't believe he stood here waiting for 15 minutes just because Wemmbu couldn’t decide whether or not this bracelet would fit Egg.
It probably would, since Egg’s so skinny and unnaturally tall, but Flame isn't going to give him an actual answer out of pettiness.
Wemmbu frowns, as if Flame was meant to give him a proper response. Wemmbu scoffs before turning toward the cashier, who's been frantically looking between the two of them. Flame feels bad she has to watch all of this.
“How much for it?” He demands, the cashier squeaks before replying.
“It’s a stack of diamonds!” She says, stumbling over her words. “But only a stack and a half if you buy—”
Wemmbu pulls out a stabshot, and the white haired skeleton quickly shuts up.
“I don't care about buying anything else.” Wemmbu bluntly says before breaking the glass and grabbing the bracelet. He tosses a stack of diamonds before the cashier can utter a word.
“Flame, I’m gonna head back,” Wemmbu states, and Flame scoffs.
“No bro, you’re not. You’re going to buy me strength pots after making me wait for 15 minutes.” Wemmbu looks back at him, tail whipping erratically behind him, before putting away his stabshot.
“Fine.” He grits out.
.-.
When Wemmbu returns, he returns with burns across his body and hair slightly singed, quietly cursing Flame's name under his breath. Before Egg can offer his help, Wemmbu pulls something out of his pocket and shoves it into Egg's hand.
“Here,” Wemmbu says randomly.
Egg feels the circular object before he processes what it is. He looks down at the bracelet and hums at it. It's a bright color of gold. It could probably blind someone if he tilted it at the right angle. He runs his thumb across its exterior, unsurprised at its smoothness.
“Yo uh, why’d you buy me this?” He turns over the golden bracelet in his hands to take a closer look at what's engraved on the inside. It's written in galactic; ironically, it says “WHEN THE TIDES OF BATTLE HAVE CHANGED, THE ONE WHO SEEKS KNOWLEDGE SHALL PREVAIL.” Maybe that’s a sign he should begin his training arc.
“You don't like it?”
Egg looks up from the bracelet, surprised at the dejected tone. When he is face to face with Wemmbu again, it only takes a split second before he forces himself to stay stoic.
Wemmbu’s pouting—just barely.
The same demon notorious for blowing up cities and smashing a thousand players into the ground—is pouting because his friend didn't like his gift. He looks like a little kid watching their parents throw away the burnt breakfast they just made.
It's not that Egg didn't like the gift; he was just put off. Wemmbu doesn't really give out gifts often, so he was a little confused at first.
“I never said that.”
“Then why’d you ask that?”
“A dude can't be curious anymore? It's nice though.” He says, slipping the bracelet onto his ghostly white hand. He’s not a big fan of jewelry like Wemmbu is, but wearing this small bracelet won't hurt.
“Thanks.” He says.
“Don’t get used to it,” Wemmbu replies.
