Work Text:
Kris woke up early this morning with a weird craving.
Now, him having cravings was pretty normal. He often craved normal things for a human teenager like pizza or a bag of spicy chips. They were foods that made sense for him. These cravings however were different.
Things like fish tacos with tartar sauce on top, peanut butter, banana, honey sandwiches, and fried ramen with egg yolk on it. They weren't pregnancy cravings bad, but they definitely solicited a raised brow from Toriel more than once. She was nice enough to still get that stuff from him though, happy that Kris at least had a healthy appetite again.
What was today's craving?
Butterscotch cinnamon pie with a scoop of chocolate ice cream on top.
God fucking damn it.
Kris climbed out of bed when his stomach made the sound of a dying moose. He stomped over to the red wagon that contained the caged soul. The soul seemed almost seemed to fidget as if it was sheepish, as if it knew that Kris was being affected by it's presence and was nervous. Good, he hoped it felt bad. He hated that in this moment, his body wasn't wanting something he wanted like pancakes or eggs. No, it wanted what the soul wanted over his own preferences and it was so unfair.
He sent the parasite a glare that said 'I'm so tired of you' as he fished the squirmy red heart shaped object out of the cage and shoved it forcefully into his chest. He felt the familiar feeling of his body no longer responding to his will and watched as his feet began to move under someone else's command.
The soul piloted Kris's body down the stairs and over to the fridge. It got out the single piece of butterscotch cinnamon pie that Toriel had left for him before grabbing the tub of chocolate ice cream out of the freezer. Kris watched it warm the pie slice up in the microwave and once it was done, it put a single scoop of ice cream of top.
Kris hated that it honestly smelled good.
The soul put the ice cream up and took it's newly acquired treat to the dining room table, happily began to dig in after it(and by extension Kris) was seated.
It tasted pretty nice. Kris loved his mom's pies already, but the cold chocolate ice cream on top softened the caramelly taste of the butterscotch and made it richer. Plus you couldn't really go wrong with chocolate. It was simply better than vanilla.
It's still kinda weird that Kris could taste what the soul consumed. He guessed it made some sense. This was still his body and he was still bound to it even when the soul was in control. He felt everything. Every single time they were struck in battle, Kris could feel the pain but couldn't really react to it. Every single time the soul made him eat something to heal his wounds, he tasted all of it; for better or for worst especially in the TVSlop's case…
All in all, it was a nice breakfast.
'That was… okay.' Kris acquiesced after the soul finished their breakfast.
He knew he was being a little petty, but he wasn't about to praise the soul in any capacity. He wasn't about to inflate it's ego any bigger than it already was.
The soul seemed to take it in strive though, making Kris's lips curl up slightly in a small smirk that made Kris want to take it and throw it in the lake before it went and washed the dishes. For a body stealing parasite, it could be pretty polite sometimes. He watched as it dried the dish and put it up, resigning himself to letting it get him ready for them day. All the while, the taste of chocolate and butterscotch remained on his tongue.
He supposed his weird cravings weren't that bad after all.
