The star guardians woke up, light shining across their eyes, disturbing their slumber. Lux was the first to sit up and look at her surroundings. It seemed like they were inside a forest, but something felt strange, everything she felt had mana on it. Zoe must’ve transported them to another realm to fight Ahri’s team. She pulled out her phone and sighed when there was no signal around here. They are all alone with no guidance in an unfamiliar realm. But that isn’t the thing that worries her, she looks at her friends waking up and sighs in relief that they are okay.
Lulu giggling at her companion Pix making content noises at a butterfly, Poppy being cautious of her surroundings and at the same time looking out for her brave companion, Janna noticing the mana surrounding the area as Zephyr floated around her, and Jinx…
“Jinx?” Lux called her name, and no response.
“JINX, WHERE ARE YOU?!” She got up immediately as she called out her best friend’s name, but clumsily fell the moment she started walking, her foot slipped on a nearby rock.
Janna helped her up and healed her scraped knee. “I can’t sense Jinx anywhere, Luxanna. In fact, I don’t think I saw her getting inside the portal with us.”
That’s terrifying. She doesn’t want to be separated from Jinx ever since their first fight against each other that almost ended their friendship. Ever since then, she clung to her like a leech. The red guardian would act annoyed, but she caught a glimpse of her smile. Not a snarky smirk when she finds trouble, a smile she could pull off when she’s only with Lux.
A familiar chirp cried out, and Lux perked up, one of Jinx’s familiars got in. “Shiro?!” The white mini gun familiar immediately flew to Lux’s direction and landed on her sternum, shaking in fear because he had been separated from his wielder. Mimi manifested out of Lux and made worried chirps to Shiro as she nuzzled his side.
“I got you now, Shiro. I’m here, it’s okay,” Lux cooed and gave him a gentle kiss, which had calmed him down. Even in dire situations, Jinx makes sure that Lux was safe by giving one of her guns to keep her company. As bad as it sounds, she doesn’t care at this point. She rubs his back, and Shiro lets out soft purrs, nuzzling onto her hand. Like wielder, like familiar.
“You thought Jinx got into the portal, didn’t you?” Shiro lets out a chirp as he nods. Lux puts another kiss on his head and watches Mimi nuzzle his side for comfort. Mimi loves Jinx and her little terrors, it's a manifestation of her own desired feelings that were kept hidden.
Poppy's ears picked up faint noises around the area and summoned her hammer to be on guard. Eyes glowing in the dark, glaring at them, and they could’ve sworn they heard hungry growls. They couldn’t manifest into their guardian uniforms, they had run out of mana after the battle against Zoe. Mimi transformed into the star staff, and Lux grabbed hold of it, shining the surroundings, and Janna raised her staff to create strong winds. The mages of the team were low on mana, making it hard to scare off the wolves.
Lulu shook her staff, hoping it could bring her mana back, while Poppy asserted dominance by yelling at the wolves. Lux was ready to use her weapon as a baseball bat if things went south, while Janna felt another energy coming towards them. The wolves jumped out of the bushes to attack them, then suddenly, with a dramatic entrance, a horse appeared. It was like slow motion, there was a woman with blonde hair, armor so shiny it almost blinded everyone, and the woman was also glowing. Some of the wolves scattered away from the intruder, the woman in armor got off her horse and used her staff to scare them off with her light magic.
The guardians were in awe as the woman turned around to greet them with a smile. By the stars, SHE WAS STILL GLOWING!! Poppy squinted her eyes, and Lulu finally broke the tension.
“Are you a princess?” The angel giggled, finding it amusing. Lux was observing the new person, why did they sound the same? She clearly has the Crownguard nose and the Crownguard smile. What the hell is going on?
“Goodness. I am Luxanna of Terbasia. I’m glad I decided to scout the forest, or you girls would’ve been lunch to those mean wolves.” The guardians didn’t know what to say after that, there were two versions of Lux, and Janna stepped forward and bowed in respect.
“I am Janna, and these are my friends Poppy, Lulu, and… Luxanna.” The blonde Lux breathed hitched as she looked at the pink guardian.
“I-I know this sounds crazy, believe me, I wish I could wake up! Please don’t freak o-”
“You girls are from another timeline, are you?” As if it was the most natural thing to ask, they couldn’t lie to her, so they answered with a nod. Shiro appeared out of Lux’s shoulder and made excited and mischievous chirps as he floated towards Blonde Lux.
The angel laughed as he gently nuzzled her cheek; only guardians could see the familiars. Does it not count when they are trapped in another dimension? If only Lulu could tell them right now what the First Star is thinking. The armored lady took Shiro into her arms and gave him a gentle kiss on his head, making the familiar melt with affection, yawning cutely, then fell asleep.
“What a cute little poro, my Bluebelle would love to meet you.” She cooed.
“Bluebelle?” Poppy asked.
“My fiancé. I’ll tell you girls, more on the road. Starfire!” The horse snorted in response and went to her side.
“I HAVE A FIANCE?!” The pink guardian is somewhat excited that she didn’t marry a man, she doesn't need a man anyway.
“You are magical girls from another world, saving the planet from void monsters and um… Star Nemesis?”
“That’s correct,” Janna answered as she floated near the blonde armored mage who was riding her horse. Lulu was skipping with Pix, Poppy was walking beside her, and Lux was riding behind the mage.
“You took an oath from the First Star to grant you powers and also immortality to a bunch of teenagers?”
“Yuperroni!” Lulu chimed.
“That's… awful.” The armored mage frowned, clearly not pleased with whatever the first star had decided to pack responsibilities on kids.
“Sounds about right.” Poppy agreed on that take.
“Then you landed in Demacia because a star nemesis opened a portal that pushed you girls in so that you wouldn’t get in the way of her evil plans, leaving your other teammate behind?”
“Shiro is one of her guns. He thought his wielder went inside the portal with us, I’m kinda relieved he’s here with me- I MEAN US! I-I’m relieved he’s here with us.” Lux said with a nervous smile, Poppy and Janna giving her the side eye while Angel stifled a laugh, clearly knowing what’s up with the pink guardian.
Shiro purrs in Lux's arms, happy that she wants him with her at all times like his wielder. He did a sleepy chirp, and Lux leaned down to kiss him on the head, making him purr even louder. She missed Jinx dearly, her stupid funny jokes, her chaotic ideas, her charming smile, especially her hugs.
“What's the other gun's name?”
“Kuro. They're usually together, creating chaos and mischief with their wielder. They haven't been separated this long, Shiro missed them so much.” Lux rubbed the white cat's head, worried about what would happen if they really were stuck in this dimension.
“You're in luck, girls. My fiancé knows interdimensional hopping from her old friend.” Starfire’s ears twitched at the mention of the fiancé, relaxed when Angel rubbed his head.
“Funny thing about your names. Janna, you are a wind goddess in Runetera. My fiancé told me the story of the wind lady helping the nation of Zaun clear out the toxic gas.” The veteran guardian felt warmth at her counterpart not straying from her duty.
“Poppy, you are known to carry the hammer of Orlon, the founder of Demacia. You are well known around Runeterra as a hero.” The blue yordle scratches her head, obviously shy about that information.
“I'm no hero, just a yordle with a hammer.”
“She also said that.”
Terbasia is so beautiful. A blend of nature and colors, a town where mages experience freedom. Everyone greeted Angel as ‘Lady Lux’ or ‘Lady Luminosity’, fitting for her light magic speciality. The guardians in awe as the townsfolk made sure they were fed comfortably by offering food, clothes, and anything useful to their journey. It was overwhelming in a positive way. Angel thanked everyone for the kind gifts and announced that the travelers must rest at her humble home since she saved them from the wolves.
The guardians were in awe of how the cottage looked so pretty. Spray paint everywhere but in a beautiful way, a tuxedo cat that had a bell collar, family pictures, and a pair of little girls greeting them.
“Mama!” The blonde girl with glasses greeted, while her sister with an oversized helmet used sign language to greet the armored mage.
“These are my girls, Alina and Isha.” The armored lady introduced the guardians to her girls.
Lux began to blush and thought of so many scenarios of her future with Jinx as she watched Angel hugging her daughters. Shiro floated around the children and let them hug him, making chaotic chirps as the little girl with glasses cooed at him like a kitten. Isha gave the little critter belly scratches, giggling as Shiro was squirming in delight. It was so cute, Lux took a picture of it with her phone.
“Make yourselves at home, girls. My fiancé will be here soon, she’s just handling business near the docks for the shipment.” The guardians took a seat by the dining table and watched the little girls playing tag with Shiro chasing them.
“We… We saw all that, right? What happened today?” Poppy asked.
“I’m just happy we’re still alive thanks to Lux,” Janna responded, looking at her leader, who was still weirded out that there was another version of her.
“Do you want to call her something else so we wouldn’t get confused?”
“Angel! She shines so bright, and I saw her wings when she used her pretty magic!” Lulu chimed, Pix buzzing in agreement.
“Well, thank you, Lulu.” The armor mage giggled as she went to her office to check on the letters.
Janna acknowledged the suggestion and turned to Lux, who was watching Shiro playing with Isha and Alina, yearning for Jinx again. She still remembered the day they were separated for a week, it took a toll on her leader, and it was so painful. In the end, both guardians didn’t let go of each other.
“You want to be with her.” It wasn’t a question; it was a fact, something Lux still refuses to reveal.
“A-Ah, NO! I-I-I just miss her stupid jokes and… silly cute red hair, her somewhat charming smile, BUT PLATONICALLY!” The guardian shouted and covered her mouth and looked at everyone, who were staring at her.
“I don’t think platonic friends think of their own friends like that. Isha agrees, and she thinks romance stinks.” Alina points at her sister, who nods her head and makes a cute glare towards the pink guardian.
Lux sighs and stares at her fidgety hands. “My family was religious, they followed strict rules. I believed the morals we have until I met her. She was full of fun, chaos, and adventure! Her sister was open with her sexuality, and I didn’t understand why my family was against that. Her sister was supportive, kind, and full of fun, she never made fun of the secrets I told her. Then, during middle school, there was a celebration of the festival, and it went bad.
I was wearing a cute kimono to show off for my friend, and it rained. She came in with no umbrella but shielded the rain with her jacket on top of my head, we were pretty close and I just felt weird. She showed something that day that only I got to see, her soft side. I fell in love, and I didn’t want to ruin what we have.”
“Your family?” Poppy asked.
“Most likely to disown me if they ever find out.” Lux sighs and hears Shiro float towards her, gives her lick kisses, and she couldn’t help but crack a smile.
“That’s funny, Jinx likes you a lot. She makes this funny smile when she thinks about you, then pretends she’s just thinking about fireworks.” Lulu casually ate an apple, and Isha was about to ask questions when everyone got alerted by the bells.
Angel left her office and looked at her girls, kneeling to hug them, “Stay inside, girls. Mama’s got this.”
Lux stood up from her seat, and her team followed, “We can help!”
“No! You’re still recovering your strength. Watch over my daughters and stay.” She summoned her staff and left the house, 6 heads poking out of the window to see Zoey’s portals opening freely and out of control. Poppy punched the wall lightly in frustration because she couldn’t disobey an order.
“I can’t just sit here and do nothing!” The blue yordle cried out. Alina noticed the glow emitting from Lux’s body, and her eyes sparkled in curiosity.
“You're a mage too?”
“We are Star Guardians, little ones. We protect the universe against the void and save humankind. We took an oath, and we protect the innocent,” Janna answered.
“Lux just took off.” Lulu pointed out.
“Oh cool- SHE WHAT?!” Poppy yelled out. They turned their heads towards the door and then looked back outside to see Lux running into danger. Janna nods at Poppy and Lulu to watch over Lux as she stayed behind with the kids.
Lux’s adrenaline spikes as she tries her best to save the old man from getting blasted by random meteorites that are falling out of the portal. She didn’t even notice a literal fire sword going towards her direction. If only she had her powers to make a barrier around her, Poppy and Lulu cried out her name, everything was in slow motion. Then out of nowhere, she was carried into the arms of a woman with blue hair, the most gorgeous pink eyes that looked like rubies, a grin that looked so charming, and light armor that was similar to what Angel was wearing. The woman landed on her feet and looked at the girl in her arms.
“Don’t want you getting chopped into pieces, Pink Confetti”. She put her down, and Lux wouldn’t stop staring at her. This woman was so attractive it awakened something in her, not the gay part but more like wow would Jinx look like would she look like this in the future? Can’t wait!
“My love!” Angel appeared and hugged the blue woman from behind. Lux felt like she was watching a romance movie for free as she watched the armored mage giving cheek kisses to the blue woman.
“I miss ya too, Blondie. The kids?”
“They’re safe, Jinx.” Angel looked at the pink guardian and chuckled, she knew her other version was like her. Bluejay took notice and patted the pink guardian’s head.
“Blondie had a feeling you wanted to play hero. Stick with us and lay low. We need to get these chumps to safety.” By then, Bluejay took off, and Lux followed the armor guardian, Lulu and Poppy followed behind.
The guardians watched as meteors and voidlings kept falling off the portals and had to keep up in saving the townsfolk, mages assigned to defend Terbasia were holding off the voidlings. Bluejay moved differently from the others, she moved so carefree, experienced, and with that swimmer built? It was the cherry on top of whatever Lux was thinking. Angel noticed and gave her a teasing grin.
“My Bluejay’s handsome, huh?”
“Yeah- I MEAN NO! WAIT-”
“HAHAHA! It’s okay, little me. I get it.” Well, that was embarrassing.
Above the skies, a portal opened, and a figure fell with a black cat trying to pull the person with all his might so the person wouldn’t fall. Shiro squealed and flew up to help his best friend pull their wielder. Lux was the only one who noticed the red starlight falling like a shooting star, her powers hadn’t recovered, but it didn’t stop her in running towards her direction, crying out her best friend’s name. Shiro and Kuro struggled to grab hold to slow down the fall.
“HANG ON, JINX!” Lux yelled, stopping in her tracks when a familiar purple wind formed to catch the red guardian. She turned around to see Janna struggling to hold on to her star powers, Alina and Isha behind her in awe.
Lulu shielded Lux, and Poppy used her hammer to give her a boost, she got there just in time to save her attractive best friend. The red guardian opened her eyes and smiled at the sight of those pretty purple eyes. “I think I’m dreaming because those pretty peepers are my favorite color.” Jinx cooed, making Lux blush as she safely landed on the ground thanks to the wind.
She carefully put her down, Shiro and Kuro floating around them with harmonized chittering, reunited once again. Jinx rubbed her head and grunted when Lux hugged her so hard, Angel and Bluejay witnessing this from afar and smiling at each other. In every universe they are together, the two guardians were proof.
“S-Starshine, we need to go back up there. Foxie is buying me some time to rescue you guys. Those knuckleheads can’t distract Zoe forever!” Lux pulled back from the hug and looked at the armor mage, her staff lighting up.
“You need to go! My people can help you girls get up there!” She shouted as Bluejay was forming the wind mages to help. Jinx pointed at them and looked at her best friend, “Who’s the gorgeous valkyrie?” Yep, that’s her crush all right.
Lux signalled her team to huddle up and soon took off thanks to the wind mages. The pink guardian looked back at Bluejay and Angel, who were waving back at them. She gave them one last smile before entering one of the portals to stop Zoe once and for all.
