Work Text:

The night had started out normal enough. Two girls crowded around a mirror doing their makeup, only occasionally breaking up the silence with small talk and quiet giggles. Fallon had initially worried about the note that was slid under her door, even more so when she found out her friend—Chanel—had received one too. However, seeing how excited Chanel was, her worries gradually rippled away. Even if they were being invited to a club neither had heard of.

She catches herself looking at Chanel through the mirror sometimes, admiring the way her eyelashes perfectly framed her eyes. God, how could ones eyes look so perfect? Such a rich shade of brown should only be spoken of in myths. Maybe Chanel herself was a myth, much like a unicorn. Unreal. Fallon could believe it.

Chanel was pacing the bathroom now, Fallons eyes continued to follow like a dog on a leash. “Okay, I get what you mean, I’m kinda nervous now.” Chanel murmured, stopping in front of the mirror momentarily to fix her hair, before continuing her pacing.

“And you decide to say this now?” Fallon groans, though she’d be completely willing to stay tucked at home. Fallon doesn’t dress up much, even now her outfit is more casual leaning. Chanel, on the other hand, dresses up for every single event. Coffee? Perfect opportunity to try out her new leather pumps. Sleepover? You’d better bet she’s brought multiple accessories to accompany her pyjamas. In a way they complete each other.

“No, no, you’re right, too late to back out.” Chanel huffed, much to Fallons disappointment.

After another few beats of silence—“Are you sure I look okay?” Chanel pouts, dramatically posing in the mirror.

Fallon quietly laughs under her breath before answering, her voice coming out embarrassingly raw. “You look beautiful.”

She still looks beautiful. Even if her pupils have fully dilated to the rims of her irises. Even if she’s bathed in a pool of her own blood. Even if her skin has become a transparently sickly pale.

The screams surrounding her blend into the background, she wishes she could blend into the background too—however a pair of lifeless beady brown eyes are glued onto her.

The scene had already devolved into chaos, people had ran off to find an exit, some were banging on the walls—begging to be let out. Fallon was the only one who remained frozen on the spot.

That was until she slowly walked towards the corpse and kneeled down in front of it. Not that anyone around her noticed. Or cared, for that matter. She lowers a shaky hand and tucks one of the stray platinum blonde hairs behind Chanels ear. Her lips graze her ear. “You look beautiful.”
