Chapter 1: The Dream

Chapter Text

If you asked where it had all gone to shit, I wouldn’t be able to tell you. When I had woken up in my cabin that morning before it all happened. Everything had seemed fine besides a nagging feeling that something was going to happen. However, even after all these years of my weird feelings right before something happened I still didn’t believe anything would transpire. Now, though, after everything I seemed to believe that I should start trusting these feelings.

That morning

I had startled awake with an uncapped Riptide in hand to the sound of someone pounding on my door. Of course, it hadn’t helped that my dream had put me on edge either. This dream had brought me back into Tartarus where I had been fighting the Primordial. However, this time instead of having to close the Doors something else was going on. Tartarus was speaking to me, telling me about these plans to do what Gaea had done only worse. Now, of course this would worry me but I had believed that there was no way for Tartarus himself to form above the Pit. And the dream hadn’t felt like my typical demi-god dreams that they all would occasionally get. No, this one had a feeling of something otherworldly, something… powerful. Which makes sense given that Tartarus is a Primordial but I had fought a Primordial before and this was a different feeling of power all together. And it was then that I had been woken.

“Percy! Percy, wake up!” He had heard someone calling from the direction of his door in between the incessant pounding.

I go to open his door, severely disheveled after having just been woken from my weird dream. “What, what is it?” I says looking around and slowly focusing on the person I had just realized was one of the younger campers.

”Chiron needs you now.”

”Did he say what for?” I asked the camper.

”No, just that it was urgent.”

Great, what could this be about? I think to myself while running through the possibilities in my head while getting dressed after I had told the camper to go back to what he was doing.

As I started to make my way towards the Big House, I took a look around the camp. Noticing that something seemed off with not only the campers but the ground and cabins themselves. The ground looked almost like it had veins that were slowly turning a horrendous shade a blue so dark it almost looked purple. And the cabins, normally glowing with the respective god or goddess’ aura seemed to dim almost worryingly so. The campers, which was even more worrying than the cabins all seemed to be on edge, more than demi-gods should be given having just gone through two wars in the span of a year.

I arrive into the meeting room and take a seat down by the pool table right across from where Chiron was sitting in his wheelchair. And I had noticed that not only was Lord Dionysus there, sober, might he add but so was Lord Apollo.

”Chiron, Lord Dionysus, Lord Apollo.” I greeted each in turn and as respectively I could manage after being woken up and not wanting to risk the two gods’ wrath this early.

“Percy,” Chiron addressed me, gaining my attention. “It has come to my attention that you had a dream involving Tartarus.”

”Yes, that’s right… why does that matter though?”

Now Apollo decides to speak, “Percy did this dream feel at all any different then normal?”

”Yes, but again why does this matter?”

”I and your father believe that you might have inherited some bit of prophecy. Because as you know your father first held some small abilities of prophecy before I was born and claimed the domain for myself. And I have come down here to confirm it before relying the information back to your father and the rest of the council. So I need you to explain to me everything you saw and felt in your dream.”

I proceed to tell Apollo all about my dream and everything I had felt while watching the events play out in my head. As I tell Apollo I notice not only his but Chiron and Mr. D’s faces take on a concerned look before they can control their expressions. As I finish telling Apollo he exchanges a glance with the other two in the Big House before flashing away.

”What was that look and why did he leave so fast?” I ask Chiron, knowing between the two of them he would be the most likely to give me a straight answer.

”Percy, it appears as though Apollo and your father’s intuition was correct, you appear to have a gift of prophecy. I’m sure you noticed the camp seeming drained and those marks in the ground.”

At this I nod my head. Hoping that what he is about to say isn’t true.

”Those marks and the draining of the camp are coming from Tartarus, he spoke into the minds of the Olympians telling them to ask about the demi-god’s dream. At the time the council didn’t know to which demi-god he was referring to until Apollo and Poseidon brought their inkling to the council. At which, Zeus sent Apollo down here to hear your dream directly from you.”

”Why am I the only demi-god to have gotten this dream? What does Tartarus want from me?” I ask Chiron.

”We can only speculate, but we assume it’s because you’re one of the only demi-gods to get through Tartarus alive. And the only demi-god to fight him and not die. However, all we can do now is wait for the council to decide what to do.”

This is my first multi-chapter fic. Will try to complete chapters ASAP but I have school starting soon, so depending on schedule updating might be a bit slow.
