Celestial: A naturally occurring physical structure that exists within the Universe.
Celestial Hierarchy*:
- Black Holes
- Stars**
- Planets
- Dwarf Planets
- Moons
*Brown dwarfs are excluded from this hierarchy as they are almost always expelled from society and forced to be come a rogue planet.
**Due to the varying sizes of stars and planets, stars and planets have secondary hierarchies; see below.
Stellar Hierarchy:
- Neutron Stars
- Red Supergiant
- Blue & Red Giants
- Dwarf Stars
- Brown Dwarfs*
*Due to their failure to become a star, brown dwarfs are usually seen as unworthy of owning a place in the Stellar Hierarchy.
Planetary Hierarchy:
- Gas Giants
- Ice Giants
- Rocky Giants
- Rocky Planets
- Dwarf Planets
In the rare event of intelligent life present on a planet (or moon), said planet (or moon) will move up in the hierarchy.
Moons do not have a secondary hierarchy, as all moons view each other as equals.
Universal Magic
Universal magic is a power that resides in the core of every celestial. It is an ancient force, a remnant of the first breath of the Universe.
Universal magic comes in many different forms:
- Galactic Magic
- Solar Magic
- Planetal Magic
- Lunar Magic
Even each form of Universal magic have their own limitations and possibilities. Some celestials hone their abilities in on healing. Some on fighting and defence. Every celestial has their own true magical calling they are born with.
Universal magic also causes strange mutations to form on the bodies of celestials. Wings, horns, fins, markings. These structures are harmless and can sometimes enhance the magic.
Universal magic resides more strongly in larger or stronger celestials, such as black holes and neutron stars. Galactic magic is the strongest form, and is only present in the cores of black holes.
Lunar magic is the weakest form, only present in the cores of moons.
However, Universal magic requires an inner strength of core to master. Even the largest star with the most power would not master Solar magic with a weak core.
Black Holes
Little is known of these powerful celestials. Black holes hold maximum authority over their galaxies, watching over every celestial. They are wise beings, and will always answer the questioning prayers of a celestial in their galaxy. The destructive nature of black holes restrict them to speaking only through dreams, as their galactic magic allows them to dream walk.
Black holes witness everything that happens in each solar system and outside of each solar system. They witness the past, present, and future all at once. They celebrate achievements and mourn deaths.
However, black holes rarely interact with each other. They remain dormant in their places, holding peace over their domains.
Stars
Equally powerful, fiery beings. In relation to their burning bodies, stars are often perceived as unpredictable, dangerous, and thirsty to kill. Born from immense pressure and sustained by endless fusion, stars possess fierce natures. Competition is an instinct for these bright celestials.
It is not uncommon for planets and smaller celestials to be caught in the path of a particularly powerful solar flare or burst of solar magic from an unresponsible star and killed in the process.
Even the steady words of a black hole cannot quench a star's brutality and savagery towards all the celestials around it.
However, every star is different—
Brown Dwarfs
Failed stars. Brown dwarfs are the runts of stellar society. Other stars are unforgiving and merciless towards brown dwarfs, demoting and forcing them to eternally float in darkness as rogue planets.
Brown dwarfs form an early hatred of stars and planets, and are most often brutal, cold, and spiteful. Stellar magic is very weak within the cores of brown dwarfs. Most of them abandon all attempts of mastering the magic, unwilling to learn the same form of magic used by the same celestials that showed them no kindness.
Giant Planets
Gas, ice, and rocky giants are present in many solar systems. Their steady cores allow their planetal magic to flourish, and these giants often use their planetal magic to defend their solar systems from outsiders.
Giant planets are unique in their many different personalities. For example, ice giants are typically cold, unfriendly planets that rarely speak with other celestials due to their long orbits far from their stars.
Rocky Planets
These planets are almost always the closest planets to their star. Rocky planets usually pick up on the characteristics of their star, and can be loud, friendly, and sometimes arrogant.
Rocky planets rarely feel the need to use their magic, and some do not use their planetary magic at all. Their smaller cores can sometimes restrict their magical abilities.
It is possible for life to be—
Dwarf planets
Similar to rocky planets, but much smaller in size and unable to clear their orbits. They are often overlooked by their stars and fellow planets.
Moons
Small celestials that orbit planets. Alongside planets, moons are present in every solar system. They harness lunar magic, the weakest form of universal magic. However, every moon has the ability to control their magic. Most moons are born with the same magical calling of their planet, and can be taught by their planet.
Moons are all different in terms of characteristics, even more dynamic than planets. However, even with their extraordinariness, moons are often overlooked or controlled by planets.
Rogue Planets
The term is misleading. Rogue planets consist of planets, moons, brown dwarfs, and any other celestial objects that no longer orbit a star. Most rogue planets are rogue due to their accidental ejection or purposeful banishment from solar systems.
It has been said that rogue planets in every galaxy form their own armies, stewing a hate for stars and willing to go to war against them. This is extremely unlikely, and would ultimately end in failure—

Sagittarius A* was the supermassive black hole at the centre of its galaxy, the Milky Way Galaxy.
It did not assume a gender—no black hole did. Black holes detached themselves from such worldly complications, and instead focused on the celestials in their galaxies.
And Sagittarius A* was focused on one particular star.
From the moment that star was born, Sagittarius A* knew. It knew that this star was different from all the others.
Sagittarius A* followed the star throughout its whole life, watching, orchestrating. It gave the star its name. Helios. From the moment the star was born, he did not question the origin of his name at all. Helios knew it was his name, no doubt about that. But he did not wonder where it came from.
The black hole watched every event Helios experienced. The birth of his first planet, Zeus. Helios knew what he would name his first planet immediately. Sagittarius A* had planted the name in the little star's core.
The solar system continued to grow. Sagittarius A* could do nothing to prevent the Grand Tack, or the ejection of Erebus. But it did everything it could to help. It spoke to Helios in a dream after the destruction of his sleeping rocky planets. It silently guided Erebus through the darkness and changed his name to X, so that his old name would not remind him of his home.
Every terrible event. Every birth. Sagittarius A* kept a steady eye on the development of the solar system. It watched the collision of Gaia and Theia. It watched the formation of Earth and Luna. It watched as—
Life.
Intelligent life had emerged from the destruction. The black hole couldn't believe it. Even so, it knew. It knew that life would form. It always knew. It knew the names of the celestials would change over time. It knew the dinosaurs would be fated to extinction. It knew the moons would rebel. It knew that Earth would be haunted by his past. It knew the rogues would steal the planets from Heli-Sun. It knew everything.
And yet...
Even the great Sagittarius A* could not control everything that happened in the Sun's solar system.
