“Get me that story!”, Jameson spoke through the smoke of his cigar, blowing it directly at Miranda, who was standing in front of his desk, her nose scrunched up in disgust.
“But how am I going to get an interview with Spider Woman, the one person who’s never in the media, where she tells me how she got her powers?”, the young woman asked for the 100th time.
“Don’t forget those pictures I’ve tasked you with.”, he reminded her again, waving his hand and dismissing her rudely.
Miranda left with a glare and stomped out of her bosses office, grabbing her bag and coat on the way out. Looking up at the sky, dark clouds loomed ominously over New York.
“Fuck my life.”, she muttered whilst opening her umbrella.
The daily bugle seemed warm and inviting against the weather outside, but Miranda wouldn’t go back into the office, at least not that day. Groaning annoyed, she started walking down the street, her umbrella tightly grasped between her fingers.
“Have you seen Spider Woman any recently?”, she asked the first woman, who looked nice enough to answer her.
“Oh no, sorry. I haven’t seen her, haven’t since a while actually.”, the middle aged blonde answered, smiling apologetically at Miranda, before going her way and leaving the young woman all frustrated in the rain again.

Dragging her feet through the starting rain, she asked every second person she could find after the infamous spider woman. Truthfully she didn’t understand why Jameson had such a hate on Spider Woman. The person, whoever it was, was always there to help and protect them. The one time Miranda had seen Spider Woman, she fell in love almost instantly, being mesmerized by what that woman was doing.
The water splashed up her legs, when she stepped into a puddle and got ripped out of her thoughts. Cursing under her breath, tears sprung to her eyes, making her slowly exhale. The cafe across the street looked inviting, warm and most importantly dry. Looking for somewhere to cross the street, she hastily made her way over to the cafe and ripped the door open.
“Seems like Thor’s been let loose out there, ain‘t it?”, a young brunette about her age said, seemingly on her way to leave.
“Oh yes, definitely.”, Miranda groaned, blushing slightly when her blue eyes met brown doe ones.
“Allow me to join you?”, the brunette asked with a soft smile.
“Oh uh, yes of course, be free to join me. I‘d like the company very much.”, Miranda replied, her blush darkening even further, as she averted her eyes.
“Is it okay if I pay?”, the young brunette asked, to which Miranda nodded shyly.
They sat down at a table farther in the back, enjoying the secludedness of it. A waitress with bright red hair came over, her eyeshadow highlighting the blue of her eyes, even though her face looked annoyed.
“I thought you were just about to leave Andy, not come back with a date.”, the redhead said, her lips lifting slightly, her voice heavy with a British accent.
“I wasn‘t so aware of that myself either.”, Andy replied with a smile.
“What can I get you two?”, Emily asked sweetly, her pen tapping impatiently against her notepad.
“I‘d just take a cinnamon bun and a caramel macchiato.”, Miranda ordered, shrinking just a bit in her seat. The two girls seemed familiar to her, she just couldn‘t place them, not even with their names.
“I‘ll just take an espresso, thanks Em.”, the brunette dismissed her friend, it seems they were friends.
“So what‘s your name pretty?”, Andy asked with raised eyebrows, a smirk playing around her lips.
“Miranda, Miranda Priestly.”, Miranda replied, batting her eyelashes, having totally forgotten what her original mission was, “What about you?”
“I‘m Andy, well really it‘s Andrea but everyone calls me Andy.”, the brunette answered, reaching over to take her date‘s hand.
“Oh, I like that. Andrea, sounds nice.”, the other woman answered, baring her teeth in a wide smile, “Nice to meet you Andrea.”
“Nice to meet you too Miranda.”, Andy chuckled, lifting the blondes slender hand to her lips, the kiss lingering just for the fraction of a second too long, “So tell me a bit about yourself.”
Their order arrived just in time for Miranda to notice the way the redheads gaze lingered with longing, before she hastily made her way back behind the counter.
“Well I’m a journalist at the daily bugle, but only temporarily I hope. I’m an aspiring designer, I love the way I can express myself with clothes. Fashion talks with a sense of its own, it has its own unique language and I love to experiment with it.”, Miranda started talking, the brunettes attention glued to her.
“The daily bugle? Aren’t they like totally against this Spider Woman, always trying to expose her?”, Andy asked with raised eyebrows, her thumb rubbing soothing circles over her dates hand.
“Oh yes, not that I support it though. I think that what she’s doing is extraordinary, it’s exceptional and nobody could do what she does.”, the blonde replied, shaking her head and gently removing her hand, “That reminds me, my boss tasked me with writing an article about her, exposing how she got her powers. And not to forget, I’m supposed to take pictures of her, how the fuck am I going to do that?”
“I’m sure you’ll be able to do that, you seem like a smart girl.”, Andy reassured her, making the other girl blush softly.
“So what about you, who are you?”, Miranda asked back, leaning her head on her hands.
“I just finished high school and turned 19 about two weeks ago, so I guess all the doors are open for me, though I still don’t really know what I want to do. Journalism sounds really nice honestly, but my parents want me to get into law school, so that’ll probably be what I’ll do or rather have to do.”, the brunette explained, her eyes fixated on the other girls lips, which were slightly parted, “I’m sorry, I’m not sure how to help you with your problem.”
“Oh don’t bother, it’s alright. I’ll just tell my boss it didn’t work out he wanted it to work out.”, Miranda said muffled, cinnamon bun between her lips.
“Would he be okay with that?”, Andy asked back, watching how more and more of the cinnamon bun vanished between her dates lips.
“Oh hell nah, he’ll absolutely hate it.”, Miranda snickered, pushing the last bit of sweet torture between her lips and swallowing, before taking a napkin and delicately wiping her fingers on it. A bit of sugar was stuck on the corner of her mouth, making the brunette reach over the table, her thumb wiping the crumbs away. The blonde immediately leaned into the touch, letting her cheek be cradled in her dates hand.
Andy’s eyes were stuck on pink lips while Miranda’s were closed, enjoying the hand pressed into her skin. Plump lips softly landed on pink ones and Miranda ripped her eyes open, before closing them again with a moan, melting further into the kiss. The brunettes hand slipped further down, pressing against her dates neck, pulling her impossibly closer across the table. Smiling into the kiss, Miranda placed her hand on Andy’s cheek, cradling it like she was the most precious thing in the world.
“Can you please stop scaring our customers away?!”, Emily appeared next to them, making them jump apart and Miranda discreetly wipe her lips.
“Stop acting all jealous Em, you’ve got Serena asking you out almost every day. We had something last year but it didn’t work out, we both know that, so stop acting all jealous.”, Andy said but without the hard edge in her voice, still trying to, seemingly now let her ex down gently.
“I was only coming for you to pay, got the check here.”, the redhead snapped, her lips pressed together tightly.
“Take that.”, the brunette said, handing her ex a $20 bill and dismissing her.
“Let me finish my coffee, then we can leave.”, Miranda suggested, smiling softly at her date and downing her drink to grab her things and leave with the brunette. It was still pouring outside, when they stepped on the sidewalk, making Miranda open her umbrella above them.
“I’m so sorry about her.”, Andy apologized, interlocking their fingers so they could walk hand in hand.
“Don’t be, I’m sure it’s justified how she acts.”, Miranda calmed her date, leaning her head on the brunettes shoulder. They walked together in comfortable silence, having no specific destination, just enjoying each other’s company.
“This is nice.”, the blonde muttered, her eyes fixed dreamily on her date.
“It certainly is.”, Andy replied, tugging the other girl after her into an alley, Miranda’s umbrella forgotten at her side when the brunette pulled her closer.
Andy leaned in, her lips meeting soft pink ones, making her push the blonde against the wall, a moan escaping both their lips at the contact. Miranda’s lips curled around the brunettes collar, pulling her impossibly closer, until not even a sliver of thin air would have space between them.
“Aye weirdos, can we join?”, two men called from behind them, walking into the rather dark alley. Andy parted from the blonde, moving to stand in front of her, shielding her or at least trying to.
“What the fuck do you want?”, the brunette growled at them, pushing the blonde further behind herself.
“We just want a part in this too.”, they said, coming nearer and nearer towards them.
“Get the fuck out, go away.”, Andy screamed at them as they came further into the alley.
“Oh no, firstly we’ll take your little girlfriend here.”, the taller one of the men said, grabbing Miranda’s arm and pulling her away from the brunette.
“No, Andy help me!”, the blonde screamed, as the men pulled her closer and Andy ran, vanishing out of the alley.
“You go after her.”, the smaller guy said, jabbing his finger into his chest.
“Why go after her, we’ve got one and this one’s the prettier, so why take after the other one when we need all our energy for this one?”, the taller guy replied, his grin smug, making his teeth show like a wolfs.
Tears streamed down Miranda’s cheeks, nausea ripping at her insides, harsh fingers pressing into her arms and shoulders.
“Hi guys!”, a female voice said above them, making Miranda look up and rip her eyes open in surprise, as they burned with the salt of her tears.
Spider woman was sitting above them on the balcony of an apartment, looking down at them, tracking the men’s movements. A web shot out of her wrist, wrapping around the guys head, who was clutching the blondes shoulders. Miranda staggered back immediately, pressing herself against the wall as the other guy jumped after her. Spider woman landed on his shoulders, pushing him down on the ground with the momentum of her jump, making him blackout.
As the taller guy came stumbling towards Miranda again, the superhero hit him in the back of his head, smacking him to the ground. A dull thumb echoed around them, vibrating off the walls with the finality of the move.
The blonde stared at the woman who saved her, astonishment etched into her features. One of the guys tried standing on shaking legs, lifting his fist for a blow.
“Watch out!”, Miranda yelled, but the superhero had already reacted with a kick between his legs.
He ran out of the alley, howling like a wounded animal, his companion shortly behind him after having scrambled to his feet.
“Hey, I-”, Miranda started, still watching after them, before she realized she was alone, “Spider woman?! I wanted to thank you!”
Staring into the heavy rain, her clothes were soaking wet, her delicate dress sticking to her skin.
“You wanted to thank me?”, a soft female voice asked behind her, making the blonde turn around and stare at spider woman, who was hanging with her head down from a balcony.
“Yes, for saving me, from them.”, the blonde muttered, her lips slightly parted as she fidgeted with her hands in her lap.
“Of course always, that’s what I’m here for.”, the superhero replied, her voice sounding oddly familiar, “Is there something else on your mind?”
Miranda’s face went red with embarrassment, before placing her hands on clothed cheeks, smiling at the woman who had saved her today, her confidence rising with every breath she took.
“Can I kiss you?”, she whispered beneath her breath, her hands cradling her hero’s face.
“Yes.”, the other woman breathed softly, as the blonde started gently removing her mask to under her nose, rolling it up there.
Hot breath met Miranda’s skin and she slowly leaned in, their lips meeting halfway in the rain, water running down their faces. The blonde softly moaned into the kiss, pulling her superhero closer until her breath got too short. She smiled, pulling the mask back down and kissing a clothed cheek before pulling away completely.
“That was a nice thank you.”, Spider woman whispered, “What’s your name?”
“Miriam Princhek.”, the blonde muttered with her eyes downcast, her cheeks blushing a furious shade of red.
“I love your name, Miriam.”, the superhero replied, before catapulting herself into the air and swinging out of the alley.

A few minutes passed and Andy appeared in the alley, an officer on her side.
“Miranda! Are you alright?”, the brunette called out, running the last bit to wrap her arms around the blonde.
“Yeah, I’m alright.”, Miranda muttered, immediately returning the hug, “I got saved by Spider Woman.”
“Wow, that’s great, that’s really great. I’m sorry I ran away, I ran to get help when I had a chance to duck out.”, Andy replied, pressing the other girl tighter around herself, not letting go of her.
But all Miranda could think about while getting hugged, was how those lips had felt so utterly familiar, as if she had kissed them before. Hiding her face in the crook of the brunettes neck, she deeply inhaled her smell, enjoying the way it reminded her of wood and roses and a little bit of dirty asphalt.
