Nakamura is in love with Hirose.
It has been like that since the first day of high school, ever since Hirose smiled at him during the entrance ceremony, well, he wasn't actually looking at him at the time, but still.
So, how come that now, even when Nakamura is still actively pursuing the love of his life, or at least trying to, he has become a bit... distracted from his goal? Don't get him wrong, it's not like Hirose is any less pretty or captivating than he was before.
And now that they are officially friends and he has got to know him better, he is even more aware of how funny he is, of the things he likes and so many little details he notices about him that just convince him even more that Hirose is just so perfect and interesting.
But it infuriates him, really, ever since that guy, Matsu-something or whatever he is called showed up at the gate of his school that unfortunate day, everything has been going south for him, actually, no, it probably was somewhere after the day they both were trying to buy the same Christmas gift for Hirose.
For some reason Nakamura can't seem to understand, the guy has been acting weird since then, it actually started when Matsumura asked Hirose for Nakamura's phone number, he thought it was a bit weird, but the reason seemed Hirose-related so he let it go without thinking too deeply about it, getting swept by fourteen baby pictures of Hirose, and too busy admiring them to have any doubt about Matsumura's intentions, but then, just about a week later, he got another text from Matsumura out of the blue: "hey, i'll be at your school's gate tomorrow at six" he was a bit weirded out by it, but Matsumura probably texted him so he would stay away and leave him alone with Hirose. Ha! As if he would. So instead of rushing home after school, he stayed late, waiting for Hirose to finish his errands for the teacher, when they were both walking out, Matsumura appeared on the sidewalk, just as expected. Nakamura put in his best effort to look innocent. You can't walk home alone with Hirose? How sad, bet you didn't see that coming.
However, the one who didn't see what was coming was him, as Hirose turned to him with an apologetic look "Ah, since i've got plans, i was worried you'd have to walk back home alone after waiting so long for me. It's just lucky Matsumura showed up, now you two can walk back together!"
Plans? What plans? He felt his eye twitch as he tried not to look murderous.
That walk home was definitely... something, a bit reveling, if you will. Once Hirose waved his goodbyes to them, there was an awkward silence, Matsumura kept looking around as if someone was following them with a bloody axe or something, it was getting on his nerves. And more than that, it was driving him mad that he seemed to be the only one upset about Hirose leaving so suddenly like that.
"What is wrong with you?" he finally snapped after about 10 minutes, and Matsumura had the nerve to look surprised at his question "What do you mean? Everything is alright. " he had to take a deep breath "Nothing is alright! Hirose just left, and you didn't even try to stop him. " he shot Matsumura a glare, he knew he was being a bit rude, but that just how things were betwen them "why would i try to stop him?" that made him stop.
'Why?' how could he ask that? Wasn't it obvious? They both were in love with Hirose, every talk they had to that point had been about Hirose, and they both wanted to walk back home with Hirose, he even texted him about it the day before! When he looked back, Matsumura was already many steps ahead, as though nothing weird had just happened.
