Chapter Text

“Hey Saiki-kun, what do you want to do?”

He stared at you. Pale lips in a straight line. Muted purple eyes meeting yours.

You stood in front of him, tilting your head. He still hadn’t moved an inch.

’I wonder what he really does, when he’s alone.’

Your thoughts passed through his ears. It wasn’t scheming or some sort. Hell, there wasn’t even some kind of odd judgement or revelation on what he was or what he would do. Honestly, he had to pause at your question.

No one really…asked him that.

What did he want to do?

Honestly, he had planned to head straight home. Read a book or watch a show to pass time, just enough to blur out all those slurring notions from strangers. Maybe he’d buy more of those coffee jellies if he was up for it. Maybe he’d watch a rocket launch up to space if he could find at least ten headphones in the house. He was too caught up with making sure none of those idiots would tail him off just like yesterday and the day before and the other day…

“I don’t know.”

You somehow hear his voice. But the way his lips moved, it looked a bit delayed.

“That’s okay,” you smile, turning your head to the entrance. “Do you want to head over to mine? I actually just finished sorting out my library.”

“You have a library at home?” He followed your footsteps, lagging behind.

“It’s not much,” you look down, finding the way his shoes are stepping besides yours rather nice. It felt new. Rarely did the two of you ever really have the chance to talk. Most of it were Nendou or Kaidou and if they were there, you’d only just be peering at him with curiosity. “I’ve just been collecting a few.”

‘This is definitely not the definition of few.’

There were shelves all around the room, each one filled with different types of video games.

‘And is this a library when it’s not for books?’

He had expected books and as much as he did want to read, he couldn’t. Not with the constant spoiling from people’s thoughts or perhaps even from you.

“You can choose the game.”

He blinks at such revelation. Normally when guests were invited over the house, wouldn’t the host be the one to lead the events that followed?

So why was it that you were allowing him to choose?

Hesitantly, he took one cover from the shelf. He looked at you, hoping to hear information.

What he hadn’t expected was for you to move closer. The scent of your hair brushed his nose.

‘Flowers.’

He may not be able to see what people really looked like but he was damn good at guessing. He didn’t need to piece it together when your head was clearly leaning onto his shoulder. Might even be tilting to look at more at the cover.

’Oh, this is—’

‘That’s right. Tell me if this is worth playing over.’

’—I haven’t tried this one yet.’

‘What.’

He can’t help that flat look that settled into his features.

There’s warmth on his fingers as you pry it softly away from. Sliding the disc into the player, you hand him the controller. Plopping down on your couch, you gestured for him to follow. He slides next to you, albeit a little further than necessary.

He’s looking at the screen, eyes landing on the megaphone symbol.

“Want me to turn down the volume?”

That…catches him off guard for less than a second. “Fifteen’s fine.”

“Got it,” you nod your head, hand pressing the arrow button.

The screen was already flashing the start menu. It wasn’t bright, luckily. The colors were pale, just the right amount he could endure. He let you click the buttons too, to start a new slot.

At the back of his mind, he had to wonder.

Why, why were you the only one who actually paid attention?
