Chapter Text
“Top? C’mon, buddy, come back to us…”
“Just hang on, Tango, I’m gonna fix this.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Guys, is it just me or are Tango’s eyes still red?”
At that, Impulse looks up from the small redstone piece he was tinkering with, glancing over to see Tango staring off into space and Skizz staring at him, studying.
“Aren’t his eyes always red?” He asks, turning back to his desk.
Skizz huffs.
“Uh, yeah, but they’re a different shade,” He replies. “These are Games-red, not Hermitcraft-red. Do you pay no attention to your friends?”
Impulse just rolls his eyes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Dude, you still with me?”
Pearl waves her hand in front of Tango’s face, furrowing her brows. Tango startles, blinking rapidly a few times. He has the decency to look embarrassed when he refocuses.
“Oh, uh, sorry, Mearlo. What were you saying?”
Pearl continues on her rant about… something. Tango wishes he knew. He thought he’d been listening, really he did! But then he kept thinking instead of listening, and before he knew it, he didn’t have a clue what Pearl was saying. Again. And worst of all, he doesn’t even remember what he’d been thinking about!
He nods along, trying his best not to get distracted again, and really wishing he knew what he was getting distracted by.

The whirring of the grindstone is what brings Tango back to himself, to find himself taking the enchantment off of a sword.
Why would he need to take an enchantment off? And this isn’t even his sword? Tango doesn’t use iron so late in the season.
He wants to check his inventory, see what he could need to be doing all this for, who and why, but his body isn’t cooperating?
He just keeps on the grindstone, like all he can do is watch his hands, not use them.
He tries desperately to get his extremities to listen to him, but it takes almost a whole twenty minutes. By the time he’s able to move of his own accord, he hasn’t just taken the enchantments off of the sword, but he’s sanded down the metal itself.
What a waste, he thinks, in a voice that doesn’t quite sound like his own.
