Work Text:

Scrrrtch, scrrrtch.

Crayons against paper. Wax against a blank canvas.

Red gripped in black tipped claws, shaking, trembling. The lines are uneven, messy. The figures are childishly scribbled, two of them sat side by side. They’re smiling.

One is tall, with brown scribbles for hair. The vague shape of a burger is placed on top, the yellow of a little Spider Noob the final detail. Blue makes up the chest region, an attempt at a shirt. A darker blue creates jeans, the legs slightly disjointed from the typical plantigrade style of most Robloxians.

He shifts, a hoof accidentally scraping a little too harshly against the ground.

Red for the tail, for the horns, for the little hooves at the end of the legs.

Red makes up the second, smaller figure.

He’s little, not even shoulder height to the other figure. A darker red is used for the smaller details, such as the horns, the little claws on the end of his hooves and hands. Black wax creates smiling, happy faces, and text scrawled across the littlest figure’s chest.

Team c00lkidd, join today.

His fist curls around the red crayon, claws digging into the wax like soft butter. A shaking sob escapes his hunched form, and a hand is thrown over his mouth to muffle his misery.

He used to create blueprints with skilled, steady hands. Detailing routes and plans as they would break into secured locations just for the thrill of it, of the best places to leave their marks on the way out. Of the small devices he would build, like the little Spider Noob that sat atop his hat. Like the GUI he had slaved over, had spent countless blood, sweat, and tears making.

The GUI he had fractured in the worst of his episodes, that gave him the greatest gift of all.

His son.

The crayon goes rolling against the table as he buries his head in his hands, shaking violently as he holds his sobs within. A few tears escape, and land on the paper, right over the littlest figure drawn.

They’re both smiling, happy.

He’s not smiling anymore.

~~~~
Red, red, red, red everywhere and anywhere on the paper.
It’s his favorite, after all.
A big red figure, strong and tall with large, intimidating horns, and big and scary claws on both hands and feet. He’s smiling gleefully, posing proudly with his arms up. Text is scrawled across his chest, in messy handwriting.
Team c00lkidd, join today!
The second figure is smaller, but no less lovingly made. A soft blue for the shirt, a warm brown for the hair, a peachy tone for the skin. He’s smiling, proud and loving.
Both of their tails are intertwined, connected.
A bright yellow sun is placed in the corner, and after a moment's deliberation, sunglasses are drawn alongside a calm smile. Every good sun needs a pair of cool sunglasses, after all!
The grass beneath the two is a bright, cheerful green. There’s a few flowers drawn as well, in equally bright reds as the biggest figure. The vague shape of a house is drawn around the two, and in carefully written text, is the word Home, and an arrow pointing at the house-shape.
He smiles, proud, and picks up the paper to admire his work. He looks away at the tapping on the table, grinning even wider at the masked figure who had come to greet him.
“[Another one?]” Is signed slowly, letting the child have plenty of time to figure out the words, before he responds in merriment.
“Yes! Yes! Can we put it up too?!” He asks, excited, and squeals happily at the figure’s nod. The child is led to a tree located rather central to their little camp, already covered in other crayon drawings done by his own hand.
The child places the picture in the masked figure’s outstretched hand, and watches happily as the drawing is pinned to the tree with a small, wooden blade, handmade by the figure from loose wood. It’s what he’s used to pin all of the images up, since they had no tape or glue to use.
Placing his hands on his hips, the boy stands back to admire his work. He grins proudly, looking to the figure for validation, who merely nods.
“Thank you, Mr. Davie!” He chirps, tail swinging happily behind him.
“[No problem, kid.]” The Slasher signs back. Behind his mask, he is smiling.
“I hope I get to show Dad some of these, soon! He’s gonna love them!” C00lkidd enthuses, clapping little clawed hands together cheerfully. Dave merely dips his head in a nod of acknowledgement, not responding either way.
He knew that it would be a very, very long time before 007n7 would see his son’s artwork again.
