Chapter Text
"I wasted my time. So glad to have my life back. Turns out Kareem was just a little boy. I don't know why I was trippin' on him so hard. Glad I still got my crew."
Penny looked at the paragraph she had typed out with droopy eyes–she refused to believe that it was gonna go down like… this, and the more she stared at the picture of her and her friends–the more she felt like bawling her eyes out.
Her phone chimed once.
Michael_Collins: and we're glad we got you 💖
LaCienega_B: Well, some of us are.
Penny laughed, but it didn't even feel real to herself, nor to the atmosphere of her room, so she typed again.
Penny_Proud: Gotta go, got some unfriending to do.
Penny_Proud: Not you, @LaCienega_B.
Then she swiped to Kareem's page.
Single. Kareem's fucking single now.
“Ooh, I can't stand him!” Penny said as she threw her phone on the bed; but she's already clicking on the three buttons in the right corner… is she seriously gonna do this?
Are you SURE you wish to block this user
YES / NO
Her cheeks turn red from the frustration–her eyes turn droopy again.
She clicks YES as her final choice.
This user has been BLOCKED.
Penny doesn't need him, she doesn't need him; not anymore – but why does she feel like crying again?
So, she does, but it's worse than before. Her breathing constricted itself faster than she expected it to… there's no way she just blocked the love of her life, is he even that to her anymore now?
Her mind backtracks to what the hell LaCienega said.
Well, some of us are.
What did that even mean?
Who could she call during a time like this? Definitely not her parents – she couldn't stand them, Dijonay isn't… fuck, who could she call, like, right now?
She picks her phone up with shaking hands; and she's already dialing LaCienega's number for some reason, and to be completely honest with herself, she needs a friend.
“...I saw the post,” LaCienega muttered on speaker phone before she cleared her throat, “And the comment, and… okay, I'm not really good at this empathy thing, but, like, do you want me to come over?”
Penny can hear the little gasp in her voice as she replies with, “Y–yeah, you'd really do that, for me, after you tried to get with him… twice.”
“A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, Proud.”
She laughed wetly, “That's not a healthy thing to say, LaCienega.”
“Well, I don't care. I'm coming over in a few minutes.”
“Cool.” Penny said softly before hanging up, dragging her hands down her face defeatly, “Fuck.”

“Are you okay?” LaCienega asked.
“You asked me that twice.” Penny looked down at her phone, tracing the outline of it as she sighed sadly, “It's still so messed up to me,” her voice was cracking as she sniffled, then wiped her eyes, “And I thought… he'd–”
“Bump him.” LaCienega rolled her eyes and playfully elbowed Penny in the shoulder, “No, seriously though, you deserve better than him.”
Penny raised an eyebrow. “I don't.”
“You do.” LaCienega insisted as she lightly brushed her knuckles, “... And you might know someone better than Kareem, y'know, someone you spend lots of time with.”
“I don't get it.”
Grumbling, LaCienega smacks her forehead and sighs before speaking with emphasis, “Me, ugh! Even though I haven't been with a girl before… I can try to be the best girl–”
Her eyes widened astonishingly when she realized that Penny Proud was kissing her, and she pulled back almost instantly.
“What were you saying?” Penny asked breathlessly as she still had her arms wrapped around LaCienega's neck with her head tilted, and the Latina chuckled, “I-I forgot that quick.”
“You forgot that quick?” Penny asked incredulously, and LaCienega sighs, “Nah, I just didn't wanna seem like I was coming onto you because you just went through a–”
“So?”
“So?” LaCienega repeated, still high off the adrenaline and scent of the world's cutest girl in front of her, “Seriously, you just went through a horrible breakup, Penny, and I don't wanna end up in a mixup.”
Penny rolls her eyes all the way to the ceiling. “I'm over him, I even blocked him.”
She was expecting some shrieking or something dramatic from LaCienega, but instead she stayed wide-eyed as she let out a whistling laugh, “What's that supposed to mean?”
“...I don't know.”
“I guess it's time I move on to something else?” Penny added nonplussedly before putting her lips in a thin line, “Have you ever dated a girl?”
“Have you?”
“Nope, it's just… a lot for me right now.”
“Fuck, well, did he do something to you?”
“I mean, he didn't congratulate me on this record deal I got.”
LaCienega rolled her eyes, “Toddler much?”
“Yeah! And he should've been grateful that I did it because the other person didn't even show,” she scoffed before laying back on her pillows, “But yeah, um, what else can I tell you about?”
“You pretty much summarized it,” said LaCienega nonchalantly as she stretched out her back, “Well, wanna do something, like, tomorrow?”
Penny shrugs nonchalantly before nodding, “Yeah, I can text you when–” She was cut-off by a soft kiss to her lips as LaCienega yawned, “Cool! No need for texting either, I'm basically staying the night since I'm already here.”
“You're– staying the– night, that's cool–!” Penny sputters as she chuckles nervously, “Goodnight, and thanks for the heart-to-heart talk!” When LaCienega finally turns her back to Penny's, she quickly types something on Holla'Gram.
Welp, had a heart-to-heart conversation with a friend, and now I'm gay for her. No homo @LaCienega_B.
𐙚𓏵𓏵𓏵𓏵𐙚
It was a sort of peaceful morning, until a pair of hands were shaking Penny's shoulders as she grumbled, “What is it?”
“Are you an idiot, Proud?!”
Her eyes immediately shoot open, and she quickly grabs her phone to see… 99k+ notifications from Holla'Gram, Twiddle, TikTik… and does WizTube compilations count?
“What are you talking– OH MY GOD.” Penny gasps and covers her mouth to look at LaCienega's outraged facial expression, and she chuckles nervously, “Um… we might be in a sticky situation.”
LaCienega's eye twitches involuntarily. “We're gonna have to fake-date to get through this shit.”
“Oh man!”
The Latina smirked nefariously. “And I know how to piss a certain bastard off.”
“Oh man…”
