A Dragon and His Dove

Summary:

After the Academy that had made his dove both suffer and die murdered their children, Truthless Recluse had stolen his dove's souljam back and used it to go back in time. He has to restart their relationship. Has to find the cause of the future, and change it. He couldn't watch the cookies he loves die again. Not if he could stop it, prevent it in any way he could. The good thing? He was brought back to when his dove already knew him, they were already friends. The bad thing? His dove still only saw him as a friend.

He had about 20 years to find the cause of their deaths and stop it. Before he runs out of time.

Truthless Recluse is many things. Impatient is not one of them. He will wait as long as it takes, no matter the cost.

Notes:

New fic! Sagerecluse style let's go. Yes I know I have so many to update. I'm sorry. I'm trying I promise but this wouldn't leave me alone and I had to write it. Enjoy!

Chapter 1: The Beginning Of The..Beginning?

Chapter Text

"Dad!"

Truthless Recluse turned around at the shout from one of his kids, only to witness Black Diamond get slammed into tree, causing both it to crack and some of his bones as the vampire cookie crashed into the ground, his purple jam spilling under him from his already open wounds.

He went to shout for Ambrosia Apple to help her brother, when he noticed the young faeire cookie was already down, her golden jam spilling beneath her as her cracked and torn off wings layed nearby. Chunks of her dough had come off, burns covering the pieces still on her body.

The one who had shouted was his and his dear doves other daughter, Coral. The cookie dodged a attack from the Academy Scholar, quickly moving to try to go to her now two dead siblings sides. "Leave them alone!" She snapped, her tail lashing behind her as she threw up a barrier spell, kneeling beside the two bodies. "Coral." He called, making his youngest daughter look up at her, eyes wide in pure fear. He knew the realization had dawned on her too.

"Dad! Dad they, they're not-"

𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘣.

Truthless watched his heart get torn out as the spike that had just impaled his daughter pulled back out, making her collapse to the ground, her spell already gone before her body landed. Her light blue jam spilled underneath her body, staining the ground like her siblings bodies had. He could feel his ragged breathing, feel his heart stammering out of control. His dove had already been killed, he had seen his crumbled body hours before this battle. He had seen those 𝘚𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘴 holding his souljam like 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 owned it. They didn't. They never have, and never would.

"Well, Beast of Despair, your truly are in your element. Aren't you?"

Truthless looked at the Scholar who spoke, nothing but hatred running through his dough. His gaze locked onto his doves souljam, glowing dim in the light of the setting sun. He had one last thing he could do as a protest to them. He tighted his grip on his staff, and shapeshifted into a bird. The Scholar spat out many protests in Latin he didn't feel like translating, then he appeared behind him, shape shifting to normal to wack him with his staff, grabbing the souljam that pulsed in his hand.

He felt the spell- one he'd never used but knew by heart- flare up, ignoring the shout of the Scholars as he vanished into the light.

"....cluse."

"..Truthle.."

"Truthless Recluse?"

Truthless snapped out of his head, looking towards who spoke his name. His blurry vision narrowed on the one who'd spoken, his dove- well, before he'd become his dove- sat in front of him, their game of chess on the table between them. He had been quiet for too long, hadn't he? Seeing his dove look so concerned made his heart stutter as it always had. He knew where he was. The spell had worked. Now he had to wait.

"Apologies. I was simply lost in thought." He said, moving his piece, as his dove was now floating above his chair slightly, looking at the board in thought. "You looked serious. I hope i didn't push to hard?" Sage spoke, moving his own piece forward, knocking one of Truthless's pieces off. Truthless saw the concern dancing in the Virtues eyes, making him feel his heart twist. Knowing this version of his dove was still a caged bird to the Academy, didn't love him..it hurt him more than he was willing to admit. But he had to wait.

Time was a fragile thing.

But, if he did this right, they'd both have a infinite amount of it.
