Work Text:

Aoi Todo walked through the winding Sendai cemetery's pathways, talking to what seemed to others like air. He, however, knew that Takada-chan was walking beside him, looking as beautiful as ever while the soft breeze lifter her hair slightly. "How could I fail him? He was my brother, and I failed to aid him in his final battle!"

Takada's soft voice flowed like satin in his ear. "Do not blame yourself, Aoi. They were intentional in keeping the great Gojo Satoru away from their plot, so do you really think they's let anyone who would help him find out? Not even Yuuji-kun knew what was happening until it was done."

"As always, you are right, my beautiful Takada-chan, but even an interesting person like me mourns a brother."

The tall idol placed her petite hand on his muscular shoulder. "Wallowing will not help Yuuji, only action. Do as Yuuji would want, and guide others to do so as well." She smiled at him radiantly, and he felt determination flare in his gut.

"I swear on my might as a first grade sorcerer I will, Takada-chan! After all, what kind of a brother am I if I allow our bond to be broken by death?"

The duo rounded the corner of the path, and Todo noticed stick boy, (Fushiguro was his name, right?) crouching by Yuuji's grave. The ravenette was laying sunflowers at the base of it. Todo and Takada-chan knelt in a moment of prayer for the deceased boy, along with his granfather, who Yuuji loved very much. Todo had never met the man, but Yuuji would always talk about him in middle school together, even if the pinkette didn't remember that exchange. He wrapped up his prayer and stood slowly. "How'd he do it?" stick boy asked. " becoming friends with you. I mean, he'd make friends with a wall if he could stand still long enough, but you don't seem..."

"It was destined to be!" Todo interrupted. "He is my long-lost brother!"

stick-kun nodded, pinching the bridge of his nose. Todo felt the shift in cursed energy beside him as stick-kun prepared to activate his technique.

Todo whirled, grabbing his arm and yanking him out of the shadows he began to drop into. "SLOPPY!" He bellowed. Tears ran down his face. "how was my brother, who landed 4 consecutive black flashes, friends with someone with cursed energy control so pathetic? a civilian could sense that!" He slapped stick-kun "Try again!"

The other did so, and Todo barely resisted bawling when it was worse. He dragged stick-kun, who tried to fight him the whole way, to the tokyo jujutsu high campus. As they crossed Tengen's barrier, Todo noticed the palpable anger radiating off of stick-kun. "You are dumber than my brother, so you will be harder to train. But I will persevere for Yuuji and for Takada-chan!" He and stick-kun heard cackling behind them.

"Dumber than Yuuji, huh? Wow Fushiguro, what are you, a rock?" Kugisaki, Yuuji's female friend, approached. She wasn't bad looking for someone her height, and strong, so Todo accepted her as Yuuji's friend.

"Kugisaki-chan, I must ask you," Todo started solemnly. "What's you're type of man?" He needed to know if she was interesting or if his poor brother had not one, but two boring friends he'd had to suffer through.

The ginger didn't hesitate as she answered, smirking. "Strong enough to carry my shopping bags, has something unique but not wierd about them, and I wouldn't mind a big boy If you know what I mean." Fushiguro balked at her. "What, sad you dont fit the description?"

"No, I-" they noticed Todo.

Tears and snot began flowing freely on his face. Her type... it was so honest, and it... it fit his brother! He began to remember a memory he had seemingly forgotten until now. Wedding music blared as Gojo Satoru walked Nobara down the aisle to his awaiting brother. Takada-chan took her bouquet from her position as maid or honor, and Todo stood, sobbing, in his position as best man. The memory faded as their lips met in his dream-like state.

"Is he.. okay?"

"No Idea."

"I... I am so honored to be able to train the widow of my late brother alongside stick-kun!"

the ginger burst out laughing "STICK-KUN!!! I AM TELLING EVERY- wait, what did you call me?"

"My late brother's widow. Do you not remember how I was your best man?"

Fushiguro looked between them. "SO thaaats what happened with him and Yuuji." He thought it best for his own wellbeing not to laugh at the "widow" thing, though it was hard. Maybe he'd tell Gojo. That was it wouldn't be him who got beat up for teasing her.

After all she'd undoubtedly attack anyway, right?

Or not.

Kugisaki was... laughing

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Me and that potato? as if! I didn't even realize he fit my type until you said so!"

Suffice it to say, Fushiguro Megumi's day could have gone better.

What took His brother only a few minutes to learn took stick-kun and Nobara-san hours, especially stick-kun. Todo found it fun to fight with Nobara-san's technique, as he could switch with her nails mid-flight, and all on her own, she figured out she could control their midair flight speed and direction using short bursts of cursed energy, and was expiramenting with using resonance on residuals of cursed energy. His brother had chosen well. Todo did not force her into physical combat as much as he did stick-kun or his brother, because range seemed to be her specialty. As for stick-kun though, Todo forced him to learn through a dog eat dog style of fighting. His progress was not nearly as satisfying as Nobara-san or Yuuji's, but not even Todo could deny how impressive it was to maintain a domain, even if incomplete, for so long as a first year. Even if it was still sloppy. Todo marvelled at how well Yuuji chose his friends and spouse ("okay, chill, stop calling me your sister in law. it was funny once." -Nobara), and how his brother saw something not even a genius such as Todo could see.

"Takada was right, stick-kun," Todo declared on his way off of the tokyo jujutsu high campus, goaded by a hysteric Utahime-sensei. "I will carry on my brother's legacy by training you!"

"Lucky me."

Seventy Years later, and Todo Aoi was dying. He was grumpy more than anything, at being too weak to leave his sickbed. Yuuji, forever 15, appeared at the foot of his bed.

"See you soon, brother."
