Work Text:
Today was the day. Today was the day Wilson was going to ask Leslie on a date. Sure, they’ve been dating for 3 weeks at this point, but they’ve never been on a real date. Wilson nervously strolled into school, picking at his already chipping nail polish. God. Why was he so nervous? Why would Leslie say no?
Unfortunately, Leslie wasn’t in their daily meet up spot, which made Wilson’s heart beat faster with nervousness. Where is he? He started walking around the school to find Leslie and ended up running into Clare digging through her locker.
“Oh, hi Clare.” Wilson said, causing Clare to jump back.
“Jesus Christ, Wilson. You scared me.” Clare put her hand on her heart to calm herself down.
“Sorry! Uh… have you seen Leslie anywhere? I can’t find him.”
“Why are you looking for him?”
“I’m asking him out today.”
“Woah.”
“Hell you mean ‘Woah?’”
“I haven’t seen him, maybe just text him?”
“Why didn’t I think of that!” Wilson rummaged through his bag to find his phone.
“Because you’re an idiot.” Clare teased.
“No I’m not… Wait, where the hell is my phone?”
“Oh my God, Wilson.”
“I left it at my house. Damnit.”
Clare sighed and the bell for the 5 minutes before school actually started rang.
“We should go to class.” Clare commented.
“Ughhh fine.” Wilson groaned.
Great, now he’s extra nervous. What if Leslie is sick? That’d be horrible! He was sitting in Mr Corneille’s class and wasn’t paying any attention to the lesson. That is, until he heard a muffled voice call his name.
“Mr Bilson! We’re you paying any attention?” Mr Corneille was standing directly in front of Wilson’s desk.
“Uhm… yes!” Wilson awkwardly replied.
“Alright, what’s the capital of Denmark then?”
“Uhm…”
“That’s what I thought. Yes, Anais?”
“The capital of Denmark is Copenhagen!” Anais Watterson proclaimed proudly.
Wilson put his head on his desk in embarrassment. He should stop worrying about Leslie, he’ll see him at lunch. Hopefully.
The bell to signify it’s time for lunch rang, and Wilson darted out of the classroom. Gregory caught up to him pretty quickly and put his arm around Wilson’s shoulders. Why isn’t he in detention?
“Hi, Gregory.” Wilson said, trying to keep his voice from going too cold.
“Wilsonnn, my maaan!” Gregory said.
“What do you want?”
“C’uld you, like, tell Leslie I’m, like, really sorry for, like, dumping him and I want to, like, get back with him? He… kinda blocked me on, like, everything. The cupcake dude I, like, went to prom with sorta… broke up with me.”
That made Wilson tense up, before laughing of course.
“So you don’t know?” He said between laughs.
“Don’t knowwww… Whaaaaat??”
“Les kinda… moved on, per se.”
“WHAT? I’m sooo hot, what’dya MEAN move on?”
Wilson decided he’s had enough of Gregory being a dumbass and ended up spilling it.
“Me and Leslie are going out.”
That seemed to make him shut up and stop walking for a minute. Wilson chuckled as he walked into the cafeteria to find Leslie, who unfortunately, wasn’t there. Wilson felt immensely worried until he saw his sister scrolling through her phone. Luckily enough, she’s in the same class as Leslie, so he can get a definitive answer if he’s at school or not.
“Thank God, Kali.” Wilson walked over to her.
“What do you want, Wilson?” Kali glanced up to look at her brother.
“Was Leslie in class today?”
“Yeah, he was awfully quiet though.”
Great. Wilson was hoping she’d say he wasn’t and that he was sick or something. Is Leslie avoiding him? No, he wouldn’t… would he?
“I think I saw him heading to Mr Small’s office, though.” Kali said, bringing Wilson from his thoughts.
“Thanks! See you later!” Wilson called, already heading for the cafeteria doors.
“Wha- WILSON!”
Wilson was too far from Kali to care. He needed to know that Leslie wasn’t purposefully avoiding him, which he was still paranoid about. Wilson got close enough to Mr Small’s office to hear what he was saying to the student in his office, who was hopefully Leslie.
“Why don’t you tell him you feel this way?” Mr Small said, calming.
“I wish I could but what if he confirms that I’m an awful boyfriend?”
Leslie.
Leslie was in Mr Small’s office and talking to the counselor about how he feels like an awful boyfriend, which Wilson 100% knew wasn’t true. Leslie is probably the best boyfriend for him.
Wilson didn’t care if he shouldn’t be in there right now, he immediately opened the door and grabbed Leslie, hugging him.
“Don’t you ever call yourself an awful boyfriend again! You’re perfect in every way possible.” Wilson pulled back, barely away from Leslie’s face.
“B-but-” Leslie began before getting cut off by a quick peck on the lips.
“Shut up. Please. When I told you I loved you that day, I meant it. Every part of you.”
Leslie was already crying, but that made him cry harder. Wilson kissed away the tears. Leslie seemed to have calmed down.
“It’s ok, I’m not going anywhere.” Wilson pressed his forehead against Leslie’s.
“I know. Sorry for being so paranoid…” Leslie looked away.
“Don’t worry, I was scared you were avoiding me.”
“Did it come off like that? I’m so sor-”
“It’s fine, honestly it gave me more time to think about something I wanted to ask you.”
“Hm?”
“Wanna go on a date sometime?”
“Oh yes I will! Where to?”
“I don’t know, I’ll think of something.”
“Well obviously I will!”
The bell then rang. Lunch is over and it’s time to head back to class.
“Bye Mr Small! Thank you for letting me come in!” Leslie called to Mr Small. Wilson waved.
“Goodbye you crazy kids!” Mr Small sighed, wiping a single tear from his left eye.
The 2 boys separated to go to their classes, Wilson was practically skipping with happiness and Leslie was way less quiet then he was before.
