Work Text:
Carney only sat still at the words that came out of Jobe's mouth.
"I'm gay." Jobe admits, unsure of what reaction was about to come out from Carney.
"I don't mind. If that's what you wanted to hear, I don't really mind about this stuff." Carney replies, and a sigh of relief comes out of Jobe. He has been contemplating all day on whether to tell him or not, and he was glad he did.
"There was also something else I've been meaning to tell you." Jobe scoots closer to Carney and continues, "I don't think I can keep this any longer. I.. I like you Carney, for awhile now."
….
Nothing from Carney. Jobe was unconsciously closing his eyes while confessing and as he opened his eyes, an indescribable face meets him. Carney looked like he had seen a ghost. He seemed like he had something to say so Jobe waited for his reply.
He cleared his throat, "I'm sorry — I needed some time to think. I like you, I really do. You are an amazing person but I don't think I'm able to reciprocate your feelings."
"But if you really do like me, then why can't we be together?" He objects, his face full of resentment. "Jobe, you know just how religious I am. And even if we do get together, what then? Being a gay couple and professional footballers at the same time is insanity. Who knows what type of things they'll say to us?" Carney blurted out.
Jobe still feeling unsatisfied, "Who even cares what they'll say about us? 'Cause I don't. This is only between us, no one else has to know." Jobe scoots even closer until their shoulders brushed.
Barely a few inches away from kissing, Carney still had something to say. "Are you gonna kiss me?" He obliviously said.
Their eyes locked.
Jobe's eyes formed a smile.
"Maybe. Now shut, it's kiss time."
It was Carney's first time kissing a man, the same goes for Jobe. Their kiss starts soft and awkward, with two people who have no idea what they're doing. But as their kiss deepens, it felt like they suddenly knew what they were doing.
Jobe's palm on Carney's waist, Carney ruffling Jobe's hair and them having no idea when to stop. Obviously they needed to take a breather 'cause then they'll never stop.
"Was the kiss good?" Jobe asked, a genuine look splattered on his face.
Carney's face was still red from the kiss and the only thing that could come out was a simple nod.
Jobe chuckled at the sight. How could he not love this man? Hearing the English boy's laughter only made him blush even more.
"Shut up, that's not funny."
"Alright, fine. I'm not laughing." Jobe replies, an obvious smile still plastered on his face.
"Wanna kiss again?" Carney suggests.
Jobe perks up almost immediately, basically like a dog waiting for its owner to walk it.
"Yes. Now? Kiss? Please?"
It was now Carney's turn to laugh. Seeing a desperate Jobe waiting for his kiss was not what he expected for tonight.
"Yes, now. Stop being such a desperate baby."
Their bodies drifting closer to one another. This time, there's a slight tension in the room, but it's not the bad kind. Jobe's hand cupping Carney's cheeks. Their kiss this time starts more slower, savoring every second, knowing now that they have all the time in the world.
