Sasaki and spent too much time looking at the cigarette case he had bought for Yamada. Even after she called him a stranger, and slapped him, he couldn't find it in himself to be mad. Concerned, confused, sad even? What had built up behind the scenes to make her so upset with him? Could he have said something sooner?
He had stayed away from supermarket S for quite some time now, not because he was mad, not because he wanted an apology. Moreover he didn't know how to face Yamada without making her feel that he showed up for such things. He didn't know how to get back to how they were before.
He wished he didn't show up as they had planned, then they would be talking and smoking like normal. Even if it was still "Tayama" he was smoking with.
While Saski and Yamada were apart, even Suzuki had noticed Sasaki's shift. For one he stopped bringing his leftover snacks to work. For two he had been much more spaced out. even for Sasaki.

Yamada hated how much she missed Sasaki's presence.
Everything around her was changing, and it all felt for the worst.
Between Goto's disappointment. Oonc rightfully) lashing out at her. (Yamada was unsure how she could see through her mask so well.) Sasaki no longer showing up to see Yamada or "Tayama." And Noma returning to Supermarket S.
Of course Yamada felt that she had no right to miss Sasaki. after what she said and did she knew she could only blame herself. She knew there was no perfect apology. And even if there was she was at Sasaki's whim, if he decided it, she would likely never see him again.

Time for both Sasaki and Yamada was a blur, without being each other's pick me up every day seemed to blend together.

After a particularly grueling workday Sasaki got off the train and in a daze, finding that his feet had taken him to supermarkets. He quickly turned to leave, but as his luck would have him, he ran into Goto.
