Work Text:

Burning. That's all he felt these days. With these brand-new refurbished eternal torture rooms how could he not!? Petals were wilted and ash black from the heat, from once were bright yellow and holy. It's rather painful but everyday is surrounded by this torture he has brought to himself. His rage towards the others who have punished him for his actions burns, just as much as his hellish surroundings. He didn't deserve this! He deserved a raise, power and respect from all angels above! Why would he meet this fate, it was just some stupid bees. The things he would do to see those pearly gates once again.. Although today his torture will be having a short-term hold as today was a special day, it was father's day. Yet Boot Beer still had yet to send him a single card!? He deserves it, doesn't he? Just a small card and that's all yet Boot Beer didn't bother doing even that. Boot Beer had sent him cards before so why now was he suddenly not anymore.

Stamen huffed, clearing his head then slowly started making his way towards a laptop in the corner of his eternal torture room. He'd quickly grab the laptop and turn it on. He had to call his son Boot Beer of course! Not that he cares or anything. Honestly Stamen just made the son excuse to get out of torture for a day, at least he thinks that's why. No no that IS why. But for some reason the idea of his son not caring about him, not responding and not sending a card sends grief throughout his body. Clicking on the Skype shortcut on his laptop he'd wait for Boot Beer to pick up. . .

. . .

Boot Beer slowly awoke, getting up from the bed and stretching. His blue hair was quite messy, and he felt quite groggy. The sun was rather bright, shining throughout his room. Boot Beer grabbed a brush nearby his bed and quickly groomed his hair before putting on his hat. He'd quickly check his phone just to see if anyone had messaged him, noticeably the girl was asking him to play Barbie Girl once again. And of course there was a new "expose" thread on himself made by that wizard. Boot Beer didn't even bother or have to click on it he knew it'd just be the same things over and over again. He doesn't like getting tied up damn it! Grumbling he'd slowly make his way to the bathroom, to quickly wash his hair. Although when he entered by the sink he saw that picture of Stamen surrounded by hearts near it. Even if he hates to admit it he really does see Stamen as his dad, and cares for him even if just a little. Despite everything Stamen has done to him and others he's still his father wasn't he? Although a part of him was terrified that he acts like him or will one day. Oh wait. Suddenly realization and fear filled Boot Beer.. He had forgotten today was Father's day. "Yo bro kinda messed up you forgot about Father's day. Anyways want me to puke on your head again? I can do that for you." Boot Beer's sink suddenly spoke. He would never get used to everything being alive, he just huffed and quickly started walking his way out of the bathroom. He needed to call Stamen now! Even if he kind of doesn't want too.. "Wait come back.."

SLAM.

Yeah no. It's always made him uncomfortable how weird this world is. It's almost as if he doesn't belong. It's a constant lingering feeling of himself and the world around him not being real. It drives him crazy.. It's as if he's the weird one. A deep feeling of derealization and depersonalization follows him wherever he goes. He'd quickly snap himself out of his thoughts, shaking his head and went his way towards a desk with Armelia's laptop. She never used it anyways. Stamen actually seemed happy when he learned Boot Beer had taken it from her. He apparently held quite a grudge towards Armelia. Oh well. He had a bar to run and a show to do soon so he might as well get this call over with. He'd grab the laptop but hesitate for a second seemingly delaying the inevitable. Fear? Maybe it was just that. Stamen is not a good person. He knows that oh so well but he wants a relationship with his father. Boot Beer remembers the many times Stamen threatened him, insulted him and the girl and made him feel scared or upset. A loud sigh left him as he slowly double clicked on the Skype icon. "PREPARE TO MEET YOUR MARKER." The laptop's eye stared down at him, making him even more uncomfortable.

Then the call connected and Boot Beer saw Stamen. In the background flames were engulfing the area, Stamen seemed quite weak his petals were charred, expression was seemingly annoyed as he quickly crossed his arms looking away from Boot Beer. "You didn't even send me a card this year." Stamen huffed out. Oh he hates Father's day. Stamen brought his gaze back towards Boot Beer looking towards his son Creation. "You're breaking my heart Boot Beer! Why didn't you send me a card!" He'd dramatically and quickly change his expression into one that didn't seem annoyed but instead overly upset. "I worked so hard making you and you treat me like this? You hate me huh?"

Boot Beer quickly shook his hands, quick to deny the comment from his father. "No! No.. Of course it's not like that I just.." The flower would narrow his eyes, seemingly mad now. "Then where's my card Boot Beer? Is your boyslider set back to stupid?" Stamen spoke, raising an eyebrow and looking closer towards the camera. "I just.. Forgot?" Boot Beer shrugged his gaze looking away from Stamen. A loud sigh could be heard. "Well you're forgetting me now? Are you a fool? What else could you possibly be busy with. After all this time! And you're forgetting me now!? What could be more important than your own father?"

"Well Stamen.. I've been taking care of the bar! Been hanging out with the girl.. And I've been performing a lot. If you'd want to hear some of my music I can mail you some CDs!" Boot Beer looked back towards Stamen. Maybe Stamen would understand or at least show some care towards his life and interests? Yeah no he's hoping for too much. Hopefully this'll just end soon because he is getting a migraine. "Boot Beer. I still want my card." Stamen said sternly seemingly not caring much about the previously mentioned activities. "And don't even mention that stupid girl. Come on remember all those great times we had together?" The mention of Bepsi noticeably made him more upset. Boot Beer thought for a moment but couldn't really remember much of a positive experience he has had with Stamen. "Not really." Boot beer shrugged. Suddenly Stamen looked shocked, his eyes staring deeply into the camera his mouth being slightly open. "What do you mean not really!"

Boot Beer quickly put his hands up. "I just don't remember anything like that!" Stamen looked mad about to list every 'great time' the two of them had together until he suddenly realized. Boot Beer was right. His face fell for a moment until rage once again filled his face. He didn't like others being right. Stamen needed to save himself! "We've had plenty! You don't even remember?" He'd lie huffing lightly. "No we haven't. I'd remember if we did. Can you even say one time?" Stamen quickly went silent glaring at Boot Beer through the call. Boot Beer sighed "Look. We both don't want to be here I can just end the call now if you'd want." He'd look down upset. He didn't want to be here either but a part of him wished that Stamen would at least try for him. Stamen quickly yelled "DON'T." Boot Beer looked shocked for a moment, he decided he wouldn't end the call. "Stay. It's whatever I guess. Not like I care about you IGNORING ME. And you don't even care about me either!" Stamen folded his arms(?). He was always like this. This is why Boot Beer hated these stupid Skype calls. Boot Beer sighed loudly. Suddenly an awkward silence filled the call until Stamen suddenly spoke up once again "Could you send those CD's?" Boot Beer smiled lightly "Of course." Stamen's expression had softened into a neutral expression. "You know I wish I could see you." Boot Beer looked surprised at that, and fairly confused. "You do..?"

Stamen suddenly looked greatly offended "Of course I do you're my son after all!" He'd look towards his father with what might as well have been a fresh pair of eyes. "Sometimes I do too. I just wonder what it could've been like if you just could've been different." Stamen rolled his eyes. "What are you saying I'm not good enough as is?" Boot Beer sighed loudly. "No no.. You're. Fine." Stamen suddenly smiled. "Of course I am." His son quickly spoke up again. "How have you been.. Dad?" The word Dad felt wrong on his tongue as if it wasn't right to call Stamen that. Stamen dramatically yelled, to the camera. "It has been AWFUL! These personalized torture rooms are terribleeee!" Stamen quickly thought back to an earlier torture from yesterday.
. . .

"I'll never care about you." A hell-made copy of Boot Beer spoke towards the flower. Stamen looked directly towards the copy of his son not saying a word. He knows it's true. Boot Beer's letters and cards have gotten less frequent. And even when they were sent it didn't seem much love was put into it. How is it fair his own creation doesn't care! How is it that his creation doesn't love him! He created him after all he should already have his respect earned. He DESERVES Boot Beer's love and respect. Stamen just looked away from the clone of his son. "You've hurt me. Why don't you love me?" What? No no.. He was the one who didn't love HIM! Stamen was deep in thought realizing he never really had thought or expressed how he felt towards his son. What does he actually think of him? Does he really care..? What would loving Boot Beer gain him? But. Maybe he does care a little. Everytime his creation sent a card or letter his day would be made a little easier. It made him happy to know at least someone out there still thought of him, still cared about him and knew he existed. Was it the power and comfort of knowing at least one person still cared for him or was it the love for Boot Beer himself?

He doesn't know anymore.

. . .

Stamen snapped out of his thoughts and continued "And not to mention they don't even have torture room service." He mumbled looking annoyed. "Yeah sorry about that." Stamen huffed. "You better be you're apart of the reason I'm even DOWN HERE!" Though Stamen calmed himself and continued. "I used to be real respected up in heaven but now I'm stuck here eternally rotting away. And away from my SON worst of all!" Boot Beer hummed lightly "Being away from me is the worst part?" He'd tilt his head gaze resting at the flower. Stamen quickly looked shocked for a moment before speaking up once again "Well of course you're my son." Boot Beer just shrugged "I just assumed you wouldn't care that much." Stamen seemed fairly offended "I do care! Do you?!" Boot Beer put his hands up. "Of course I do! I care! I just didn't think you did.." His father tilted his head confused, eyes narrowing "What makes you think that?" Boot beer didn't even have to think he just quickly listed. "Well you've never really told me you do. Oh and you also threatened to shred me." His son frowned glaring at Stamen. "Well I care about you! I love you son! Is that what you wanted to hear?" Stamen yelled towards Boot Beer. "You really do?" The flower looked away seemingly embarrassed. "I love you too dad."

And for once. Calling him dad doesn't sound so bad.

Once the call ended Boot Beer stood up and walked towards the bathroom quickly adding another heart sticker around the picture of Stamen. Then Boot Beer shortly after mailed the CD's over to Stamen. The feelings he experienced back then will never go away but maybe just maybe it'll be okay. And.. Maybe he should send stuff more often.
