Chapter Text
Jinx watched as her soul mark, her little Lightbulb, devoured, in a Piltie manner, the Piltie food she had stolen when Lightbulb made gestures that she was hungry. Of course, she’d rather feed her Jericho’s food, but something tells her that somewhere out there, her soulmate lives like Sheriff Sister Stealer. Jinx took the towel beside her and gently wiped the crumbs stuck to Lightbulb’s face. She chuckled when Lightbulb started glowing, face flushed from this gesture. She looked so adorable.
“Clean as day, Lightbulb.” She announced and put the cloth back on the table. Lightbulb squeaked when she noticed Jinx wasn’t eating. She took a piece of the pastry and put it up, gesturing to Jinx to eat with her. Jinx tilted her head a bit, wanting to argue that she wasn’t hungry. Then an adorable attempt at a scowl appeared on Lightbulb’s face, which made her giggle.
“Okay, Okay! You’re so bossy.” She leaned down to bite the pastry gently. She heard Lightbulb laugh in triumph. She wished to offer something more to Lightbulb, but she seemed happy living in the hideout with her. She took another bite, enjoying the sound of her soul mark laughing in joy. She opened her hand and watched her soul mark step into it. She lifted her, and she smiled when Lightbulb started glowing again.
She seemed to do this whenever she gave her affection; it was beautiful, it was cute, it was breathtaking, and it felt familiar. Her heart broke when Lightbulb noticed her own glow and tried to keep it in. She made panicked squeaks and tried to concentrate on putting the light out. Demacia… this must be where her soulmate is. Silco told her about that place, not very welcoming when you are a mage. Lightbulb wanted to cry when she couldn’t control her glow, and Jinx nuzzled her cheek.
“Don’t hide, Lightbulb. Not from me, you’re safe here. It’s just me.” She kissed her cheek and looked at her with love. Lightbulb looked at her eyes, confused as to why she wasn’t mad. Jinx gently wiped the tears away with her thumb, and Lightbulb leaned on her palm.
“Show me. I wanna see my girl shine. Make that Topside sun feel jealous.” Her soul mark gasped softly, as if it were the first time someone had accepted her magic. She couldn’t imagine what horrors her soulmate had to face just by hiding her own light. Jinx smiled when Lightbulb glowed so bright from the affection. She nuzzled even more and heard her soul mark cry.
“No monsters’ gonna get you while I’m here,” A painful promise repeated, but for her… She’s willing to kill again for her light to be shown.
Later, Jinx puts mini noise-cancelling headphones on Lightbulb to protect her from the loud music and the tools she’s about to use for tinkering. She gives her a quick kiss on the head before going to work, it’s not totally noise cancellation but it reduces the volume of the sound, so she sometimes watches Lightbulb dancing along to her favorite music. Occasionally, Lightbulb would go back and forth on her workbench to give her the tools Jinx needed, getting kisses as a reward, and Jinx laughed as she started glowing with every kiss.
“That’s my girl.” Jinx cooed. Lightbulb somehow heard that and felt her heart going all crazy, and she was blushing. She got scooped up by the hand, and she giggled when Jinx nuzzled her tiny cheeks.
Augatha had already given up teaching her daughter’s soul mark basic table manners. She started to think that Luxanna’s soulmate is an unmannered commoner somewhere. The soul mark’s choice of fashion seemed to be from Piltover’s Undercity. The door opened to reveal Luxanna, carrying her soul mark with the palms of her hands. Her soul mark jumped up and down when she saw the food, looked up at Lux, and giggled.
Lux smiled and kissed her soul mark’s forehead. “Yes, Gubbie. I requested the chefs to cook your favorite dish.”
Gubbie stood on her tippy toes, hoping Lux would give her another kiss. Lux leaned down and kissed her cheek this time, making Gubbie giggle loudly. She placed Gubbie on her personal tiny chair and table next to her plate. The servants immediately took care of Gubbie’s food. Lux pulled out a small hankie just for her soul mark to wear so she wouldn’t get any mess on her clothes, even though it happened often. She carefully placed it around Gubbie’s neck while food was being served on her plate.
As they prepared to say their grace, Gubbie was chowing down the steak without having the slightest clue what the Demacian tradition is. Augatha gave her daughter's soul mark the side-eye, Lux nervously laughed as she gently nudged Gubbie. The little soul mark stopped eating and looked at her, noticed eyes were on her, and crossed her arms with a smug face, unapologetic about her actions.
Of course, Lux didn't have the heart to scold her little Gubbie, she's so cute and chaotic, her cheeks are so pinchable! She gently used the hankie to wipe off the oil mustache from her face, Gubbie humming a tune, content to be taken care of.
After the awkward dinner tension, Lux decided to visit the library with Gubbie to learn more about magic. Gubbie saw her make little light orbs as lights for them to read properly, she stared in awe, and Lux had never felt more loved, knowing somewhere out there, her soulmate loves her magic.
Gubbie happily reads a book about marine life, and Lux occasionally gives her cheek kisses for Gubbie to know she's loved. Lux took off her gloves and saw her soul mark immediately leaving her book, putting both her hands on the light magic illuminating her palm. Gubbie never gets tired of the warm feeling of the magic.
“You love it?” Do you love me?
A deep-rooted insecurity within Lux. Fortunately, Gubbie looked at her like she hung up the stars above and smiled at her as she made a heart sign to her chest. Oh, how she loved Gubbie so much. She made her feel so accepted. Gubbie sighed in contentment as she nuzzled her hand, feeling the warmth, and made her so sleepy. She let out a cute yawn and immediately fell asleep. Lux couldn’t help but giggle, gave her little Gubbie a quick kiss on the cheek before resuming her studies in magic.
