Pain.
Sharp, blistering pain coursed through the very fibers of Medkit’s body, it was hell, it hurt, it boiled, and blazed, and burned, and he wanted to scream. He felt weak, so, so weak– His body had long-since passed it’s expiration date, kept alive by divinity, he only wanted to embrace death.
O holy death, the very deity that rules over the deceased whom was his oh-so-holy lover, his dearest husband, the Inphernal who he’d spent the last twenty years with, the one who saved him from that church– Right now, he couldn’t think of anything but dying in his arms. Maybe that’d be a blessing, compared to this hell that he had to live with. He was dying. And he knew it.
Medkit was hit with a horrid wet cough, wracking his airways and nearly closing them up– It felt like his lungs were trying to squeeze the very life out of him, fluid kept building up in his lungs only to end up coughed out, he gasped for breath, his horns hitting the headboard as he brought his hands up to clutch at his neck, tears rolling down his cheeks.
And then Ghostwalker woke up, face blank as ever, yet he took one glance at Medkit, his face wanting to show sorrow, his heart wanting to break, but he could not, he did not want to feel, either, he had no reason to, he has never felt, he has only assumed what feeling is like, only used logic to come to a conclusion– But this was different, this was his spouse, and so, gently, he spoke. ‘’ .. You’re dying. ‘’
Medkit looked over, reaching out, panicked. ‘’ I know- I know I am please- I’m not ready to die please- I wan- I want to live with you please- ‘’ Each breath was followed by a cough, crimson painting Medkit’s chin. ‘’ I am aware. ‘’ Ghostwalker muttered, his gloved hand stroking Medkit’s cheek, pulling him close. ‘’ But.. It is your time, my dear. ‘’
Medkit could only pause.. He knew. Oh, gods, he knew well.
‘’ Pl- Please, please.. Please- Take your gloves off I don’t w- I don’t wanna die like this. ‘’
Ghostwalker paused, considering… Before he sighed, a heavy sound, he remembered how Medkit always said, that when he died, he wanted it to be in his arms. ‘’ If you are sure, my love.’’ And then, Ghostwalker freed his hands of his leather gloves, slowly pulling the material off of each finger, before his hands rested on Medkit’s back, gently stroking.
Medkit paused.. He didn’t feel pain, or cold, but he felt warm. So warm, and comfortable, he nearly fell asleep right then and there, but he only rested his head against Ghostwalker’s chest. ‘’ I love you. ‘’ he whispered, his hooves shifting, catching on the bedsheets.
‘’ I love you.. And I will love you for a thousand lives. You will come back to me as you have for centuries, rest, my dearest. ‘’
And. That was that, he closed his eyes, and never woke back up.
… Ghostwalker was left alone once more, for a few decades, at least.
