Cliff Dangers

Summary:

Gally gets peer pressured into dangerous fun.

Work Text:

“Remind me why I agreed to this.”

Minho gave him a look that answered absolutely nothing. After all, there really wasn't a valid reason at all. Jumping off cliffs at night was far from a good idea. It turns out, water is a lot more intimidating when you can barely see it. The sun and moon reflecting only meant so much when it seemed to be reflecting off pitch darkness.

“You said you would. It’d be a wuss move to back out now.”

“I’d rather be a wuss than dead,”he mumbled, peeking over the edge. He felt like this was something he could add to his growing list of regrets. He already knew Minho was always looking for the smallest hint of adrenaline. After all this time, he never figured out the definition of peace. His life was built off danger and chaos, and somewhere along the way, that meant it was nostalgia.

He already knew that far before he agreed to this insanity though. Just like how he knew he too had accepted those feelings as the default a long time ago.

That still didn't mean he was liking what he was looking at.

“Come on. I’ll even hold your hand,”he grinned, his palm already outstretched. Knowing better than to trust it, he took one more look at the ocean below him and stepped backwards.

Before Minho could assure him he did this all the time, he ran. When he pushed himself off the edge, he felt the ground drop from under him. The feeling of him getting lower to the Earth made his stomach twist. The wind blowing past his face was a reminder that the night brought cold.

Right as he shut his eyes, his body hit the sea. It sent an automatic shock through his system. The water engulfed his very being, filling every sense he had. It forced up his nose he forgot to hold, seeped into his parted mouth. His limbs were stuck in the salty ice, leaving him disoriented.

When there was another splash by him, he broke the surface. Water dripped down his face, making it hard to see. He wiped his eyes, but even then they took a second to adjust to the night.

Even so, he felt that overwhelming presence. Minho had this quiet certainty that took up the room, even if he didn't know it.

“I guess you really didn't want to hold my hand.”

“Yeah. That's because you would have shoved me in.”

“Same difference.”
