Chapter Text
Gira stared out the window.
Sunlight dappled her lean body, as she slowly rose out of the ornate chair, she had been sleeping on. She yawned, her eyes blinking and lashes fluttering. Gira rolled her shoulders back in a feeble stretch and stepped toward the “practise room” as Romero called it.
Gira walked in and was immediately greeted by her reflection on the giant mirror that covered one of the walls. She doubted it would ever cease to amaze her, whenever she saw it. The ceilings were high and the room itself was enormous. A bar ran along one of the walls. It was really just a simple, empty room that happened to be huge. Whatever. Gira thought. She shook her head, reorganising her thoughts and began her routine.
Gira Gira or Gira-chan, or maybe “Just Gira”, which had become a little joke among a group of fans after he latest outburst in an interview, was a professional dancer who specialised in ballet or classical dance. She wasn’t famous, but she wasn’t niche.
Before Gira was a dancer, she had been a model. (This meant that with a little digging, one could find Gira-chan wearing all sorts of clothes in all sorts of poses.)
Gira, herself was a fairly serious person, who had mastered a “camera smile”, something most actors and other entertainers had nowadays. Gira tended to keep personal information, like her childhood and family, to herself and perhaps extremely close friends, who, when lucky, got to hear snippets of her old life, before all the cameras. Did she even have friends from those days???? Yes, Lugosi who was now Giras manager and Romero, who helped with routines sometimes.
“Oh Gira Gira, how come you look so distressed?” Lugosi, “That honestly looked like you got everything right (for once).” The last two words, which were meant to be whispered, seemed to echo off the walls at an alarmingly high volume. Oopsies, 😛. And Lugosi got a glare in return (which she totally deserved), before Gira opened her mouth to answer the question;
“This routine looks shit without the right outfit. Does the reason for your interruption to my practice have anything to do with the designer maybe finishing??” Gira-chan had a feeling Lugosi was about to give her some good news and well, right now all Gira needed was the routine to look good. It was an important dance after all.
“Uhm.” Or maybe it was really bad news. Shit. Don’t lose hope, Gira!
“Uh, so the designer has kinda, like disappeared… But we got an email before we lost all trace of her whereabouts-” The outfit! Gira couldn’t help but break into a grin. Finally!
“-it said she was quitting.” And Gira's grin faded away, along with her short lived excitement.
“What the fuck. How can someone just do that!” Gira Gira cursed, “That is so inconsiderate! Fuck her.”
“I would rather not but you could, and yeah, it is really stupid, she does suck.” Lugosi nodded, agreeing, “But we have found another designer to replace her. God, we are so lucky. To think we found a designer willing to work with our limited timeframe, in fact she should be here soon to take your measurements-” Lugosi was interrupted by a knock on the door and she left to open the door and welcome the new designer.
“Wait! You must tell me who the designer is…!” Gira called, but Lugosi had already bounded off. Urgh. Lugosi could be so rude sometimes. She was so ridiculously stubborn. Gira Gira had learnt this the hard way. She signed and shook her head, no point pouting about Lugosi now. I really hope I’m not too sweaty… A vague thought going through her mind. Lugosi can be really annoying…
“Voila! Your new designer!” Lugosi grinned and behind a girl walked into the room. She wore a timid smile and looked quite young. Her hair was in a pretty sort of bob (not too short) and she had blue highlights. She was pretty cute. The girl gulped at the sight of Gira's eyes silently examining her. The little girl's mouth hung open, as if she was trying to speak, but words were word-ing.
“Go on, introduce yourself!” Lugosi was practically beaming. To the untrained eye, she merely looked excited and happy to have a new designer, but Gira saw through the facade, Lugosi just loved to put people on the spot and watch them suffer.
“Wow,” Someone said, making both Gira and Lugosi jump, “Lugosi, you can’t even introduce our wonderful new designer.” It was Romero. The lady who had taught Gira how to dance. (And then Gira had picked it up really fast and surpassed Romero.)
“Urk.” Lugosi had not been expecting Romero to appear. “Well, it’s not like you’ve been any help, what do you even do now!?”
Romero laughed, pissing off Lugosi even more, before she turned to the girl who had been nervously watching their exchange.
“Please excuse my sister. Lugosi doesn’t know her manners,” Romero smiled and continued, “But if you could tell us something about you that would be great.” The truth was Romero and Lugosi had very similar personalities, they both loved to piss people off, just for a reaction. Romero didn’t care if the new designer was nervous or not, but when she had the chance to annoy Lugosi, she took it. (They both enjoy annoying people, but pissing off each other is better than a rando.) After all, what are sisters for? Romero couldn’t help but throw a victory smirk at Lugosi. Ha ha.
“Um! Hello…,” the girl said, quickly bowing her head. Oh. It seemed her mouth had finally managed to form words.
“Uh, I- My name is Akuruhi. Um. I study fashion here, in Paris. I moved here from Kyoto. I am 19 years old. My favourite flower is a daisy. I like photography and I used to play the violin. My blood type is A. I don’t know much origami, but I used to make paper planes. I like baking muffins, but I’m not very good. I can’t dance, but my mum made me take lessons when I was 7-” Akuruhi's words tumbled over one another. She looked so nervous. Poor girl.
“And stop right there. You’ll just embarrass yourself if you continue rambling.” Romero smirked. Akuruhi stared into the floor, her cheeks turning pink in embarrassment.
“Sorry…” Akuruhi wished the floor would eat her alive.
“It’s whatever,” Gira dismissed with a wave of her hand, “So.. this child is our new designer?” She shot a judgemental glance toward Lugosi, as if to say Really?? Her???. Akuruhi's head snapped up and she glared at Gira.
“I am not a child!!”
“But you are.”
“NUN UH!” Akuruhi retorted, small tears sitting in the corner of her eyes.
Romero had grabbed the bar on the wall to stop her from falling over and Lugosi had spat out her coffee in laughter.
