“What the hell is that?” Colin asked as soon as he opened the front door and saw his sister. Specifically his sister in a Christmas jumper. Technically it was tradition in the Raymond house to wear a Christmas jumper for the celebrations but Jill had usually not worn one at all or worn a very, very simple one that truly barely could count as a Christmas jumper.
This year though, she was wearing a Christmas jumper that…well, the fact that it didn’t light up was the only thing that was missing from making it look utterly ridiculous. It was, for one, bright green. The hemline at the bottom looked like a border of individual snowflakes. Right in the middle of the jumper was a massive, extremely ugly cat that was wearing sunglasses and had colourful Christmas lights wrapped around it. Bold letters declared Merry Christmas at the top. It truly was hideous.
“Not one word.” Jill warned sharply and walked right past him, you following right after; wearing the same exact jumper.
“Hi, Colin.”
“Hello, darling.” He said, grinning in amusement at the utter delight that was written all over your face. He gave you a chaste hug and then closed the door behind you.
“So…let me guess, this was your idea?”
“Of course it was.” You replied, grinning from ear to ear. The two of you shared an amused laugh, the idea of Jill initiating this is as absurd as seeing her actually do it. No doubt, only for your sake.
When you both followed Jill into the living room, you immediately giggled at seeing Jill’s face and the looks on the faces of every single member of her family. The grins and wide eyes only widened when they saw you were wearing the same thing as Jill.
“Now, don’t look so grumpy, my love.” You said sweetly and looped an arm around her back. Her hand immediately settled on your waist. It always did that.
“You’re very lucky you’re so pretty, darling,” she grumbled, “No one would ever guess there’s such a menace inside of you.”
“Oh, you love me.”
“Unfortunately, I do.” She replied, the fondness now undeniable in her voice. She placed a quick kiss on your forehead. Then she turned back to her family.
“One words from anyone and I swear…”
“Now, now. Don’t be like that, Jill.” You chastised her gently. Several family members chuckled fondly and you swore you heard Colin whisper something to his wife that sounded like She’s gone soft.
