Work Text:
Tropical Island mornings usually follow a simple but familiar pattern. A predictability that anyone could fall into.
Ananas likes predictability. Makes things much less complicated and it’s much easier to deal with things when you know how they’ll go. And mornings with Mystic Flour are predictable.
It’s not often she visits the tropical islands actually, she tends to be quite so busy with her temple and redeeming herself from the time she tried to kill Dark Cacao. It’s time consuming despite what some people might believe since she gets on well with the ancients but then again it’s not really the ancients she needs to prove herself to. But whatever.
Well that’s besides from the point!
The sunshine breaks through curtains almost directly into Ananas’ eyes which makes the dragon immediately shift and huff. The sharp breath of annoyance is very quickly followed by a low grumble when they curl around the smaller body in their nest.
“My dear,” They grumble, nosing at Mystics nape with a smile. “It’s morning.” Wings spread then fall as if acting as another blanket. “Are you awake?”
Mystic muttered something incoherent from where she was laid amongst plenty of blankets. Cocooned once again, only this time by blankets.
”Mystic,” They try again. No answer besides from the woman burying herself further into the blankets.
Silence falls again, then Ananas decides to pull away and spread out, wings, limbs, tail, all of it. Just to be annoying. God knows they can’t stand to be ignored. Maybe its the dragonic inflated sense of ego, Witches above know how egotistical dragons can be. Prime example: Longan.
With all the grace of a disgruntled cake hound, Mystic looks up— hair messy, blankets wrapped around her like they were clothing and with the most unamused glare possible. Only to be met with a smug grin from a cookie who knows they’re annoying, and is doing it on purpose.
”Cloud Haetae behaves better than you, and they are a child,” She mutters.
”They are only a child because of being frozen in time when you were cocooned!” Ananas counters, tapping their lover’s nose with a clawed finger. “If they had not aged, in any capacity, they would be a mature adult.” A grin spreads across their lips as they lean closer. “Probably more mature than that blue jester associate of yours.”
A hand is waved dismissively. Shadow Milk has no respect from Ananas, especially after his ‘corrupting Wind Archer and the following chaos brought to the tropical islands’ incident. Yeah that’s earned him a permanent ban before he ever set on the sand here.
”Associate?” Mystic Flour asks as she sits up.
”Is he your friend?” Ananas questions.
”No.” She replies.
”Then he is an associate.” The dragon answers with a finality. Because that’s how they saw it, if Shadow Milk is not a friend then he is an associate and that’s only because they were once friends before the fall from grace. “An annoying associate.”
Mystic Flour hummed, she couldn’t disagree. The Beast of Deceit certainly had a talent for pissing people off, even her calm, apathetic demeanour cracked occasionally at his words. But still, once they had been friends. Even if that was when things were right millennia ago.
After a few moments, Mystic attempts to get up. The sun is up and there’s probably things to do, but an arm catches her waist to yank her back.
”And where do you think you’re going my dear?” Ananas purrs, nuzzling their nose into her neck from behind, tail already curled around them as if it was another layer meant to keep her there. “It’s early and we have not spent time together properly in a while, I wish to make this enjoyable and long-lived.”
They flipped their positions, having the Beast of Apathy underneath their larger frame to prevent an escape. They leant down, hands on waist as they kissed over her neck, grumbling lowly in contentment.
”You’re sappy.” Mystic Flour scoffed.
“I’m romantic,” Ananas Dragon countered. “Big difference.”
