Chapter 1: School Time

Chapter Text

Jolyne lay in bed deliberately ignoring her alarm. She lay with her eyes closed in a green robe with her hair down. It lay long and gorgeous in a matted heap on her pillow.
"JoJo!" Her father's voice rang loud and clear from her door. "Get up! There's pancakes downstairs!"
Jolyne perked up. Her father never made pancakes. He had never tried to make pancakes. She then frowned, the reason they either, always ate out or always ordered in was because Jotaro could not cook.
Jolyne's alarm clock had dented inwards with the brute force she inflicted on it with her stand instead of turning around and pressing the snooze button herself. Once again, Jolyne used Stone Ocean.
"Stone Ocean!" she mumbled. The blue stand emerged from the air and smashed down on the alarm clock, disabling the noise.
"Jolyne!" Jotaro was stood at the bottom of the stairs shouting now. She couldn't see him but she knew his hands were on his hips and he wasn't looking up the stairs, he would look at the light switch and wonder why it has to be the top of it that makes it turn on.
Jolyne came to the top of the stairs. "Yeah?"
"Food." Jotaro grumbled before walking back into the kitchen and returning to his black coffee. There were four poorly made pancakes lying on top of each other on the plate before jolyne. There was batter leaking out the back of some of them and they were drowned in syrup and lemon juice.
"What is that." Jolyne scowled.
Jotaro looked up. He glared at Jolyne who was looking back at him with the same glare. "Where do you get that attitude?" he mumbled. Jolyne rolled her eyes and grabbed her empty backpack before going to the door and leaving it open, off on her way to school.
"Good grief." Jotaro shook his head, put his coffee down and went to close the door.

Jolyne met Ermes and FF at the end of the road and they waited for bus.
"My dad tried to make pancakes today." Jolyne rolled her eyes as she spoke to her friends.
"How'd it go?" FF asked.
"Terribly." Jolyne responded with. The girls burst out laughing. They continued giggling to themselves as the bus arrived and they found their seat at the back. The bus drove to a few other people's houses. Kars, Wamuu, Esidisi and Santana all got on laughing to each other. Esidisi was smoking a cigarette. After they sat down, the bus drove to school. They were the last stop on the way.
Jolyne, Ermes and FF dragged their feet to their lockers and dumped their stuff in one locker. None of them wanted to pay so they shared one and all chipped in.
"Why even bring a backpack, JoJo?" FF asked, "you never put anything in it."
"So my dad thinks I do work in school." She responded.
"Well the teacher parent conference is tonight, ya know." Ermes said.
Jolyne stopped. "What?"
"Yeah." FF said.
"You didn't know?" Ermes chuckled. "You're cooked bro!"
"Mr Kakyoin hates me, bro!" Jolyne folded her arms.
Ermes and FF giggled profusely.
"You're in trouble JoJo. You're not gonna be able to hop on COD with us tonight then?" Ermes smirked.
"Shut up, Ermes!" Jolyne scoffed. "Of course I'm hoppin' on."
The girls continued their conversation. Everyone stopped and gasped as they saw Kars run down the hallway with Mr Polnareff's left shoe, he was being closely tailed by a screaming Mr Polnareff. This made Ermes and Jolyne laugh a lot.
FF frowned, "I kind of feel bad, guys."
"In we come class, there is work on the board." Mr Kakyoin had appeared out of nowhere behind them.
Jolyne resisted an eye roll and followed FF and Ermes into the classroom.

Kars went to give Mr Polnareff his shoe back and threw it to Wamuu who was waiting opposite and who then continued to run back down the hallway with Mr Polnareff chasing Wamuu now. "Kars! Principle's office now!" He pointed down the hall, the turned on his heel and ran after Wamuu. Kars turned, looked at the principles office and shrugged his shoulders, walking off outside onto the football field.
Mr Polnareff took a small break to catch his breath. "These... stupid... enfants.." he panted.
"Need a hand?" The guidance councillor had stepped out of his office and was looking at a hunched over Mr Polnareff.
Mr Polnareff noticed Mr Avdol and fixed his posture, leaning against the wall. "Nah. Cool as a cucumber."
"Oh really?" Mr Avdol look at his left foot. "Then where is your shoe?"
"Just on my way to get it now, if you don't mind, monsieur." Mr Polnareff turned and ran after Wamuu.
Mr Avdol smirked and watched him run away.

"And don't forget to do the homework." Mr Kakyoin looked at Jolyne specifically, who once again bit her tongue and tried not to give him attitude. "One more thing, Miss Kujo. Please stay behind."
"What?!" Jolyne yelled. For this entire lesson, Jolyne had been on her best behaviour, she gave no attitude, did all the work and she even answered questions with no sarcasm. What could she possibly have done to deserve being held behind. She looked over to see Ermes and FF laughing to themselves. Mr Kakyoin dismissed the class and they all filed out slowly.
"Miss Kujo." Mr Kakyoin said calmly.
"What." Jolyne folded her arms and scowled at the teacher.
"That was the best lesson you've had in months!" Mr Kakyoin smiled kindly at her. "Continue on this path and you'll be one of my star students."
Jolyne felt a funny feeling in her stomach. It felt good. She covered it with a frown. "Yeah yeah. Can I go now?" she tried to hide a smile.
"I'll see you later, Miss Kujo." Mr Kakyoin smiled knowingly and shook his head. He watched Jolyne leave and then sat behind his desk and checked his schedule for the parent teacher conferences. "First is Josuke Higashikata, then Ermes, Mister Okoyasu, Jolyne, Foo Fighters, Johnny J..." Mr Kakyoin listed his patients in order and made sure he knew who was when. He went to the staff lounge.
"Yo, Kakyoin!" Polnareff greeted him with open arms.
"How were your kids today, Polnareff?" Kakyoin asked.
Polnareff's face darkened. "Kars and Wamuu worked together and had my shoe for the whole of first period. Gyro Zeppeli kept throwing plastic balls at me. God. I had Okoyasu third and he and Josuke wouldn't shut up!"
Avdol and Joseph sniggered to themselves on the couch.
"Hold on Polnareff." Mista said. "Kars and Wamuu were on my football field second period. They were supposed to be in your maths class!"
Polnareff looked sheepish. "They're hard to control. I thought Kars was with Joseph. I sent him to his office first period."
"He didn't show up to my office." Joseph said from the couch.
"You people need to begin controlling your children." Rohan said smugly. He was sat with an iced soy latte with a teaspoon of sugar and cinnamon in the corner of the room drawing and writing a manga.
"Where'd you get that? We only have the nasty watered down coffee in here!" Polnareff folded his arms and pouted.
"A magician never reveals his secrets Mr Polnareff." He took a sip.
Kakyoin took a seat next to Polnareff on another couch who ditched him after realising he could sit next to Avdol if Joseph swapped with him. So Joseph ended up sitting next to Kakyoin who scowled at Joseph's man-spread.
"I'm going to get ready for my parent teacher conferences, I will see you all later." Kakyoin waved goodbye to the other teachers and went to sit behind his desk in his classroom for Joseph to be late.
An hour later, Josuke knocked on the door.
"Come in, Josuke." Mr Kakyoin said.
"The old man isn't here?" Josuke spat. "That senile old fart!"
"Relax, Josuke. I will go and get him." Kakyoin said calmingly. "Just wait here."
Kakyoin went back into the teacher's lounge.
"Joseph. Your son is here."
"Already?" Joseph checked his watch.
"You're late, Joseph." Kakoin said.
"Better late than never, C'mon." Joseph pushed past Kakyoin and walked into his classroom.
From outside, Kakyoin heard:
"Hey, kiddo!"
"Shut up, old man!"
"Hey! Respect your elders!"
"How elder is the limit?"
"You little shit!"
Kakyoin walked in. "Okay, gentlemen. Relax please."
Joseph and Josuke stopped.
"Regarding mister Higashikata's work, it is impeccable. However, I fear his friendship with Mister Okoyasu may damage those grades if it continues this way."
"Who's Okoyasu, Josuke?" Joseph grunted. "Is he your drug dealer?"
"What?!" Josuke responded.
"Good grief." Mr Kakyoin sighed.

Ten minutes after Josuke's meeting, it was Ermes' turn. She showed up with her grandmother.
"Hello, Ma'am." Mr Kakyoin greeted politely.

This was it. Polnareff was going to meet the people who owned the monsters. He had come to call them The Pillarmen because they made him unable to sleep at night and Polnareff couldn't spell that well. The pillarmen's foster father walked in.
"Hello." Mr Polnareff greeted.
"Greetings, Mr Polnareff. My name is Dio Brando."
'Shit.' Mr Polnareff thought.
"Please. Have a seat." He said, gesturing to the chair.
"Inside." Dio said. With that command, in walked Kars, Wamuu, Esidisi and Santana. They sat down on four chairs next to Dio. "So. About my children?"
Sweating, Mr Polnareff stumbled. "They're the most amazing in the class!" he chuckled nervously. "They are a pleasure to teach and they pay attention with much care! If anyone is mischievous, it is Jonathan Joestar! He's in my class and believe me, he is a trouble maker."
"I am thrilled to hear it, Mr Polnareff. It has been a pleasure but I must be going." Dio stood up and made for the door.
"Drive safe!" Mr Polnareff waved them off.
On their way out, The Pillarmen grinned smugly.
After they left, Polnareff slumped in his chair and sighed with relief.

"Bye Okoyasu, you behave now!" Mr Kakyoin sent off Okoyasu and his flab of meat of a father. Kakyoin sat in his chair and looked at the list on his laptop. "Oh, Jolyne is next!"
A calloused hand pushed open Kakyoin's door. Kakyoin stood up and was greeted by the rugged beauty of Mister Kujo. "Hello... Mister Kujo..." Kakyoin stuttered.
"Mr Kakyoin." Jotaro sat down next to Jolyne in the chairs.
Secretly, Jolyne was hoping that Mr Kakyoin would praise her. She loved the feeling of praise before but she would absolutely never tell her dad or Mr Kakyoin.
Kakyoin took a moment to take in Mr Kujo's spectacular face. His eyes were a deep blue and they looked at him. They looked at him...
"About Jolyne?" Mr Kujo said.
"Ah yes."
Jolyne noticed Mr Kakyoin's stare and smirked.
"Jolyne can be a little difficult sometimes, however there is no need to fret or panic, her grades are still above average even when she isn't trying. Jolyne is a lovely student to teach. If you'd like, I could go get some of her text books for you to look at."
"That would be nice, thank you, sir." Mr Kujo responded. He turned to Jolyne. "A little difficult sometimes?"
Jolyne shrugged. She was buzzing from the praise she was getting and trying desperately not to reveal she likes it.
"I can tell you enjoy being told you're good at doing stuff, JoJo." Jotaro said. "I know you better than anyone."
Jolyne went to protest but she noticed a knowing look in Jotaro's eyes that told her it was useless.
Mr Kakyoin returned with a small pile of books. "I am an English teacher and I have noticed Jolyne's passion for writing stories." He opened the first book and revealed six and a half pages of writing about her and her stand adventuring through the amazon. "There are stories about her defeating vampires, defeating Aztec Gods, defeating a grand vampire who can stop time, a cereal killer, a mob boss with split personalities and even a man who can reset the universe!"
Jotaro's heart swelled. He had never felt so proud. His daughter's teacher was gushing about Jolyne which is someone he created and raised to be so amazing.
"Thank you. Jolyne, we can get a McDonald's on the way home."
"Yes!" Jolyne cheered, the praise was back and she felt the fuzzy feeling in her belly again.
"Well done, Jolyne." Mr Kakyoin said.
"Thanks Mr Kakyoin."
Kakyoin watched them leave. He sat down and sighed, smiling messily. "Okay, Foo fighters, Johnny Joestar. Then from my older class, Kars, Gyro, Jonathan..." Kakyoin listed out his next appointments.

"Okay! Okay! I want two double cheeseburgers, fries, onion rings and a chocolate milkshake!" Jolyne shouted down Jotaro's ear from the passenger seat of his car.
"Please?" Jotaro suggested firmly.
"Please." Jolyne obliged.
"Okay." Jotaro said. He pulled up to the drive through speaker and spoke into it. "Hi, Can I get... a quarter pounder with cheese, a nine nugget box, fries, a diet coke and a McFlurry. Then also two double cheeseburgers with fries, onion rings and a chocolate milkshake. Thanks."
"You're so fat." Jolyne said.
"Excuse me?" Jotaro responded, "Miss Two Double Cheeseburgers."
Jolyne sniffled.
"Hey... I didn't mean it like that, JoJo. I was only kidding." He put his hand over hers and she stopped crying.
"Are you sure?" Jolyne asked.
"Of course I'm sure. You're the most beautiful lady I've ever seen." Jotaro smiled proudly at her.
"... Thanks." Jolyne muttered, liking being praised, once again.
"Anytime."
Jotaro payed the fee and recieved the food. Jolyne snatched it from him as he was driving.
"No! No eating in the car! JoJo! Put that back! Good grief. Whatever. You can clean my car." Jotaro put a hand over his forehead and sighed.
They returned home and Jotaro put what was left of Jolyne's food on a plate and let her eat it before pouring himself a large glass of red wine and drinking it whilst he ate his food.
Once Jolyne was finished Jotaro decided it was late and so she should go to bed.
"JoJo. Bedtime." he said.
"Hey, Dad?" Jolyne looked at him.
"What?" he asked.
"Did you see the way Mister Kakyoin was looking at you?" she asked with a raised eyebrow.
Jotaro's cheeks flushed red. "No." he said quickly.
Jolyne smirked, knowing she'd hit a nerve. "I think he likes you." she said.
"What? Me?" Jotaro acted shocked, when really, he thought the guy was pretty hot.
"Mhm." Jolyne responded with a sly grin. With that, Jolyne excused herself from the table and went to bed leaving Jotaro to his thoughts about Mr Kakyoin.
