Summary:

Wendy Testaburger has always believed some things are worth fighting for.

Stan Marsh.

Their future.

And what belongs to her.

Sometimes love changes people. Sometimes it simply reveals who they were all along.

Work Text:

Wendy Testaburger was eighteen years old when Stan Marsh broke up with her the last time.

They always had a back and forth relationship. Stan always came back right? He loves her.

Since they were eight years old.

“I’m sorry, Wends. I think we want different things and we fight so much, you know? Besides, we are both going to different colleges. It makes sense.” said Stan.

         Wendy tried to stay strong.

The tug of war between her heart and her brain has been continuous since she was eight. From the first time she shot up the substitute teacher in the sky.

She goes to college. Wendy does well. Why shouldn’t she? She’s a smart girl. Everyone thinks so.

The summer after the first semester of college she goes to a party at Tolken’s. Wendy tries to flirt and rekindle old flames. But Stan’s blue eyes kept appearing in her mind.

She watched as Stan left in one of the spare bedrooms with Bebe Stevens. Her best friend.

                  Ex.

                  Best friend.

         Wendy clenched her jaw.

                 Mine.

Kyle makes conversation with her. He’s sweet. Intelligent. A bit self-righteous but a lot better than Stan.

Why didn’t she go for him?

Flashes of attempted kisses with love vomit appearing, conversations about the food inside, Stan going to her house with a boombox, and the following conversation after The List.

“I really feel like something changed in you, Stan.”

         Stan smiled and leaned closer.

“A lot of things changed, haven't they?”

             Wendy leaves.

                Xxxxxxxxxx

Wendy transfers to University of Denver the following semester.

              Everyone is shocked.

“Wendy, weren’t you at Berkeley? What are you doing here?” questioned Nicole.

             Wendy shrugged.

“I wanted a change.” she said simply.

On her days off she gets a black hoodie (Pretty Little Liars got one thing right-nobody notices a girl in a hood) and watches Stan.

           Sometimes he’s with Kenny.

           They smoke.

           Laugh.

Other times he’s with the other men at their game night.

Some days Bebe comes in the dead of the night and comes out in the morning. His roommate, Liam, is groggy.

         “Get a room,” he muttered.

        Stan rolled his eyes.

       “This is my room, asshole.”

Wendy meets Stan outside of the cafeteria one day. He jumps slightly, surprised to see her, and smiles.

“Dude! What are you doing here? I thought you were leaving us slackers behind.” he said lightly.

               She smiled.

“Home was more important.” she said as she watched Stan.

                He grinned.

“You should come to one of the parties the frat throws sometimes. I know you probably got your smart people shit going on but it’d be cool to see you there.”

               She goes.

Gets hit on by stupid frat guys and some with ridiculous self-confidence. Stan is with Bebe but his eyes occasionally go towards her direction.

          Bebe narrowed her eyes.

            Wendy waved.

Maybe the most wanted girl won’t be around anymore.

            Xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Wendy ends up hooking up with Stan.

                  Again.

            And again.

But he never asks her out. He doesn’t ask her out on a date.

              What the fuck?

She watched as Bebe came out of Stan’s dorm room. How many girls does he have on rotation? Why is he incapable of commitment?

           She follows the blonde.

You would think Bebe would know after years of helping her with Mrs. Ellen.

Wendy felt the knife in her pocket.

Was it a cliche way to kill someone? Probably. But Wendy isn’t old enough to legally carry a firearm and she’s a college student.

Where’s she going to get her money? From her unlimited amount of student funds? Right.

Wendy put the hoodie on tighter and as she ran closer she grabbed the blonde. Bebe gasped as she stabbed her and left her on the campus grounds.

         Shouldn’t of fucked with Stan.

          Bitch.

          Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Everyone goes back to South Park for the funeral. The university is closed for further investigation.

Probably to prevent more scandals but, hey, what else would a party school deal with? At some point they gotta do something substantial.

             She isn’t worried.

Wendy threw the knife in the dumpster and doesn’t expect anybody to notice. The campus had a billion students. Why would they ever expect her?

Bebe’s family was furious. Or at least her father was. The mother just seemed to cry and cry.

Stan was crying. She wanted to go over and comfort him. But how would that look? Despite being his ex, Wendy didn’t know how many people knew Stan had been seeing both her and her former best friend.

Kyle was next to him. He looked lost. Kenny came in and went right next to the redhead. He gave Stan a hug.

                Stan sniffed.

“I-I should have walked her back to her room.” he said tearfully.

Kenny rubbed his back. Kyle was in deep thought. He didn’t seem to be paying attention to anyone.

Wendy looked over closer to Bebe’s parents. Clyde was right next to them and speaking softly to them. He looked angry. That checks out. They were exes. Didn’t he hold a torch over her for years despite Bebe only wanting him for shoes?

               What an idiot.

All the girls stuck together. Heidi looked devastated. Red looked confused. Nicole looked over at Stan with pity.

“He really seemed to like her.” the black girl said quietly.

Wendy fought the urge to punch her.

          Hello?

         What about me?

Stan was mine first, you bitch

              Xxxxxxxxx

Weeks go by and Wendy watches Stan as he talks with Clyde, Kyle, and Kenny. Eric Cartman is nowhere to be seen these days.

What did that asshole even do now?

“You were seeing her on a daily basis and you don’t have any idea who could have had a grudge?” cried Clyde.

           Stan furrowed his eyebrows.

“Clyde, I know you loved her-I liked her too. But it seemed random. What if it was a random mugger or something? They just left.” stated Stan.

Clyde started crying. Stan awkwardly scratched his neck. Her ex boyfriend has never been good with emotions that weren’t his own.

Though was he even emotionally intelligent himself? He was so cute, so sweet, and cared so much about things. But emotions…Stan was terrible.

“I-I don’t know. But something feels bad, Stan. Did Denver even have a bad reputation for crime? I looked into it when I considered going and it had a good reputation.” claimed Clyde.

If you ignore the date rapes, illegal partying, some frats that needed to be closed down, hazing, and the fact nobody noticed Wendy.

           Sure.

           It was great.

“I don’t think so? But that doesn’t mean anything, dude. Crime happens everywhere.” said Stan.

Nothing comes up with Clyde. The dumb man simply went back to his home and continued crying. God. He was such a crybaby. What did Bebe ever see in him?

Kyle talks to Stan too. He seems distracted though. Craig Tucker has moved to South Park. Cute. Stoic. Looked a bit like her ex. Seemed like an asshole. He’s always talking to the Tucker guy and Tweek.

Wendy gradually gets closer to her ex. She comforts him. They have sex. A lot. It’s annoying.

“I love you.” she told him one day.

Stan was high that day. He seemed to alternate between drinking or smoking on any given day. “Wendy, I-I’m sorry. But I don’t love you anymore. Not like that.” he stuttered. His eyes were red.

               The fuck?

              Wendy narrowed her eyes.

“Why not, Stan? We were together forever. Look at us now.” she argued.

                Stan looked down.

“L-look I’m sorry. I shouldn’t of fucked around with you. I-I liked Bebe but I wasn’t ready for a relationship and there you were. Looking pretty like you always have. Being understanding of my fucked up issues. But I view you mostly as my friend, Wends.”

          Wendy didn’t say anything.

Stan always wanted someone else, didn’t he?

First it was Mrs. Ellen. Then he was hanging around Kyle and his friends all the time. Then he gradually didn’t seem interested in even forming adequate conversations.

                Fuck him.

If she can’t have him, nobody can.

Wendy stormed off to leave. Stan followed, frantically apologizing, and trying to get her to stay so they could talk through this.

“Where’s your parents?” she asked harshly.

            Stan blinked.

“Uh. Dad is doing deliveries and Mom is doing grocery shopping or something. Like they always do on Wednesdays.” he said slowly.

She went to the kitchen and grabbed another steak knife. Stan followed her and his eyes widened.

           “W-what are you doing?”

              Wendy glared at him.

“Something I should have done years ago. You never appreciated me. You are such an asshole.” she hissed.

               Stan stared.

“P-please Wendy. You aren’t this person. I know you aren’t. I understand you are upset, I really do, and call me every name in the book but don’t lower yourself to this.” he begged.

                She chuckled.

“Didn’t you know, babe? This isn’t my first rodeo. Remember Mrs. Ellen? Your first crush that took you away from me.” she said lightly.

             Stan blinked.

“Yeah…didn’t she get sent to the moon or something? Why would you be included in that? We were eight.”

Wendy bragged as she explained how she bribed the men out of the country to fake the story about how she wasn’t who she said she was and got her sent to the moon. How Bebe helped. How Kyle had suspicions but eventually forgot.

                Just like everyone else.

                Stan took a step back.

“Who else, Wendy? Who?” he yelled as he looked around. Stan went to grab his phone. Wendy kicked him in the balls. Then she took the phone and stomped on it.

            The phone didn’t break.

            Stupid Android’s.

She put it in her pocket.

“I didn’t do anything for years, Stan. I thought things were better and I didn’t have to let jealousy control me any longer. I could be better. Smarter. It worked…mostly. Then you break up with me and then fuck Bebe. So she had to go.” she said matter-of-factly.

         “You crazy bitch!” he yelled.

Stan tried to grab her and take her knife but Wendy always knew how to hold her own. She kicked him in the nose and he fell to the ground.

               His nose bled.

Wendy stabbed him everywhere. Stan cried out in pain but she ignored him.

“We could’ve been happy! Why couldn’t you love me!” she screamed.

Wendy watched as Stan lied in the pool of blood. Her eyes overflowed with tears. She hugged the corpse.

She lied there until Sharon Marsh came and saw her. The woman screamed. Randy held her as Stan’s mom called the police.

           Wendy watched Stan.

The cops took her and she was held in prison and was planned to go on trial for the murder of Stan Marsh.

               Nobody visited.

Her parents disowned her. Occasionally though Wendy got letters from an address from South Park.

                   It was unlabeled.

I always thought you and me were pretty similar, Testaburger. Maybe when you get out you can hit me up. -E

                   She smiles.
