Those eyes (or another title)

Summary:

Mr. Dev over here, after him literally dying, coming back and living peacefully with the Encores. Has a sudden motivation to become buds (or more) with Whole (and maybe sorta his mind, too.)

Will Whole let it happen?

Question unanswered.

Notes:

I don't know how it's been since I put anything on here that was written.

I love having gaps of motivation (and other things) prevent me from writing stories :D (/sar)
But it's fine. Decent. I just wrote this as I'm typing this because I was writing a character thing, and then it turned into a short thing. Little moment with these two.

I hope this little story gives me the willpower to go back to stuff with a bright creative flow.
I don't care if this isn't perfect, it was fun.

(and, there will be more of these two..three? in something else revolving them. Just short stuff maybe.)

Enjoy :]

Work Text:

--- --- ---

Dev was walking along the shores of the beach. Nothing too out of the ordinary. It's a beach. Full of sand and trash. What good could coming here bring?

Nothing but occasional winds, birds chirping for potential food (not if they'd get any).

And wondering why everything went this way.

A few hours passed sitting there.

They walked further along the sand, seeing a face. A striking one at that. They couldn't pinpoint why or how, but this person looked like a face they'd seen. It couldn't be anyone, most of them were enjoying what good they got. There'd be no use for reconnecting. Everyone has left him. They were right to.

Didn't do much about it. He went back home and relaxed with the rest of the Encores.

Except something stuck in his mind. He wanted to actually know this guy. He seemed odd enough to fill some form of entertainment. (In a way) so what's there to lose?

He set up a plan. Dev went around town (in places where no one knew who he was..cus. dead.) But he asked around about the guy. What his deal was and where he frequented.

Unfortunately, he didn't get a whole lot out of anyone. Besides Fin who gave plenty. Just enough of an idea.

Fin went over to his friend's home, letting him know that someone wanted to hangout.

While Dev waited patiently for him to arrive. It wouldn't be that long, he was worrying for no reason! A little while longer, the guy showed up. He appeared disinterested, sluggish, out of it. It didn't deter Dev away from him. Just curious. His eyes, from what the demon could remember, the guy's eyes were blue before. Taking a smart stance on his usual antics. Its brows turned, its shaped angular and scolding. They almost amused the demon in a way.

Maybe it was a trick of the light, because they appeared purple just then. Quiet, but all know and kind of like it was playing along. For some reason, the eyes didn't want to admit it.

He saw him.

The guy scratched his head awkwardly.

Dev adjusted his glasses.

They both were..unprepared.

Until the guy, (whose eyes were now blue..again) spoke up in a low, but friendly tone.

“<..Hey.. you're the one that..wanted to..meet?>”

“Yeah..! .. Yes. Uh, ha ha. I've seen you before, it was, what, a year ago?”

The stranger shifted his eyes to the ground, then towards the sky. Shuffling in his shoes as the question came up in his head.

“<I..think so? Look, what do you want? I'm here because Fin wanted me here. I'm not up for whatever this could be.>”

“You don't even know why and you still came.”

The demon smirked. Lifting his tail from the sand, twirling it across his arm and seeing such a non reaction to his words. He'd thought this would be difficult. Somehow, this person is still here.

“<I came here to see what you wanted. That's all..>”

Bit of a dissatisfied look to him. That could be changed. How? Dev didn't know. His charm was warring thin. The overflow of guts didn't help either.

He stroked his chin with ideas.

One came up that he should have asked from the beginning.

“Ok. What's your name?”

“<Hm..?>”

Was this guy serious.. he heard him loud and clear.

Dev repeated the question again.

“Your NAME, what are you called?”

“<I heard you. Gosh.

..Harmonia.>”

Harmonia. For any other person here, a name like that would belong to a higher being of power. A divine god. Or some type of greater thing no one could perceive. And yet…it was the name of this.. hm. Rather pathetic looking man.

Guess we'll roll with it.

Dev took out his hand, gesturing a finger gun motion at the other.

“Hey there Harmonia, I'm Dev.”

“<Dev..? Is that it? …wait..hold on.>”

Oh yeah. The dead thing. Can't really pretend to be gone when using your OWN NAME with anyone! Dev's face turned to worry in tune with some sweat beading down his face. They pushed their hands all in an attempt to do something. Calm themself while trying not to freak Harmonia out.

Being a demon still hasn't made this guy run.

“Now I know what you're thinking! Hehe how is this happening?! You see, um, I haven't done anything wrong here..! If you could.. a. Ugh.”

Great conversation!

Surely will impress him!!

Harmonia stood there, seemingly lost in space somehow. His eyes were vacant but he could still perceive everything in his view.

He sighed, staring at the demon's hand before resting his own in it. Causing a stop to everything. If only for a short amount of time.

“<I don't care. Have you seen things here?? You aren't the weirdest thing to exist. So. Stop.. stop that. It's.. euugghh..>”

He groaned in annoyance.

For how much he wanted to pull away from his hand, Dev let it stay. Interlocked in each other. This didn't mean anything. It wouldn't.

They took their hand away from him. Sparing a second staring at the sand, with all its comfort towards him. Could.. it be something?

They weren't sure. They didn't think so.

“<..yeah.. hm. Mhm.. I'm about to head..home.

It uh, it was nice meeting you.. twice now.>”

He waved slightly at them. A tint of purple passed through as he turned back. Hands, fingers clasping into another inside his pockets, and the soft hums heading out of the scene.

Before Dev could respond, Harmonia returned to his home, though they knew they'd bump into him again. Whenever, wherever, somehow. It seemed expected.

They'd wait. For ever how long.
