SpiderPhoenix & The Punisher ~ Bonding

Summary:

Jean comes back to New York. Peter lets her stay with him. Oh, and Frank’s there too!

Notes:

Lowkey wrote this little drabble for myself because I couldn’t stop thinking about those few seconds of Jean and Frank teaming up. They literally gave me what I wanted, then took it away almost immediately. I might actually have to go cry!! 😭😭

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

The second she left Queens, Jean Grey realized that she was homesick for a place that shouldn’t feel like home. She stayed in Westchester for a week, and she knew she’d have to go back eventually, but she missed the familiarity of the city.

So, when she showed up to Peter’s doorstep with just a duffel bag in hand, she knew she wouldn’t hear the end of it.

Cut to a few seconds later…

“Oh, you’ve got to be kidding me…”

Jean smirked. “Hello to you, too.”

“What are you doing here?!” Peter followed her into his space because, apparently, she stepped inside without him even telling her to come in. She just waltzed in like she owned the place. “You know it’s not safe for you to be here. I told you they’d come looking for you.”

She completely ignored him and looked around the apartment building’s very own laundry room.

“This is a dump. Who willingly decides to live in a place like this?” She wrinkled her nose, finally revealing her face underneath that hood, but she didn’t take off the cloak.

“I do. If you’re me, then you need a place like this,” he told her. “Seriously, Jean. Why are you here?”

“What? Am I not allowed to visit you?”

“It’s been a week.”

“I know. And you already miss me, huh?”

Peter crossed his arms. “I don’t even know you that well.”

Jean dumped her duffel bag near his TBS—his technology bullshit setup (that’s what she called it in her head)—and walked toward him.

“That’s exactly why I’m here. You said you’d be there for me, and I need you right now. So can you just shut up and give your guest a warm welcome?”

Peter gave her an unimpressed look. “You seriously want to do this right now? Get to know each other?”

Jean shrugged. “Why the hell not? It’s not like you’re busy or anything.”

“Jean.”

“Par-ker.” She responded with his same tone, then snorted. “Okay, fine… I can take a hint.”

She grabbed her duffel bag again and turned to leave, but he grabbed her wrist.

He didn’t even have to tell her, but she knew what he meant:

Don’t go.

But also? She already risked herself and wasted so much time by coming here, so he wasn’t about to make her regret that.

Anyway, Jean dropped her bag and flopped onto his bed to take a nap.
