bigger than all of us!!

Summary:

When Lapin died he did not see the Bulb. He saw a girl wearing a red cape.

Notes:

Prompt:

last year one of my favorite prompts was writing eldritch versions of the bad kids, but i'd love to see takes from any of the seasons!! kingston, the new york guy, becoming The New York. hj wingstreet completely losing any sense of humanity and/or what it looks like as someone who can literally reshape his face (who even is he anymore?). someone with a rage star coming to understand how all encompassing rage really is. whatever van has going on now. (whatever LUDMILA has going on now.) there's a lot of different ways this can go so truly pick your favorite character and go wild!! i'll love it regardless :)

yeehaws: eldritch!! extra limbs, multiple fractured realities, completely inhuman or human but wrong, you name it, if it's unsettling, i'm in.
hell naws: non intrepid hero campaigns, i've seen less of them so i'm more likely to appreciate IH season takes

Work Text:

When Lapin was nothing more than a street urchin, even before he became a slave to the Sugarplum Fairy, when the continent was at the edge of a brand new war and the people were paranoid and evaded him even more, he grew to enjoy funerals.

Mourners would congregate in the temples of their Gods or would travel away to bury their dead and in doing so their houses, and more importantly their food, were left empty for his plundering.

It’s not like he enjoyed it but a hungry kid follows no laws but the ones his empty stomach made for him. It was for this reason that one time when he finished with his thievery that Lapin decided to follow after the congregation and see the funeral to its end. The least he could do truthfully.

“...as we came from sugar we will one day return to sugar. So we must not find despair in our loss but comfort in our faith in the Bulb and our hope to see them again when our time arrives.”

When Lapin died he saw neither the Bulb or the family which left him to die on the streets. He saw a girl in a red cape walking through a strange forest. Preston, that poor pig, was walking beside him and the girl motioned for them to follow her. They walked and walked for far longer than Lapin remembered ever doing and yet the light on the sky continued to color it with oranges and purples.

“Is this it?”

“Is what it?” The girl answered back.

“Is this what death is? Just walking for all eternity?”

“No, it isn’t.” The girl said nasally. She pointed to a rotten candy house just in their line of sight. “But I can’t eat you yet.”

He took Preston in his arms and walked to the chocolate bark door finding it closed. Lapin turned around wanting to ask the girl to open it for him but stopped as he found her on all fours.

“One little piggy built his house with stra-ahg!” A massive hind leg burst from the girl and awkwardly found its footing on the forest floor. The trees bent around it as it twitched. “And I huffed and puffed and blew his house away.”

Preston squealed in Lapin’s arms while the bunny’s back had gotten entangled in the chocolate wood of the door.

“One little piggy built his house with sticks.” The girl’s jaw unhinged and her mouth opened so big her cheeks tore apart revealing a snout with canines as big as one of Lapin’s arms. “And I huffed and puffed and blew his house away.”

One by one massive furry limbs burst from the rest of the girl’s extremities making her small body but a speck in the middle of them. The creature that was the girl tried to stand up and at her full height the clouds were on her back like frosting.

“One little rabbit and one little piggy died and someone dares to will them back. So I’ll huff…” As she did her entire torso blew up like bubblegum tearing apart her skin revealing the body of a wolf. The tree tops and the clouds all coalesced around it. Red in color and with toxic watery drool pooling under it. Lapin would’ve closed his eyes in fear but the vastness of such a sight compelled him to look. “...and puff and I’ll send you back to them!”

The wind tore through Lapin and the house just as it lifted them all and the old rabbit felt as he was sent spinning through the air. He could hear Preston squealing as fragments of the house pierced his chocolate cover.

Pieces of him were torn apart by the winds. His paws and ears cracked open and his liquid center started to tint the vortex they found themselves in.

In the Halls of the Sugarplum Fairy…

A cold wind vortex swept through the cavern and the sugar stalactites cracked over the two kids doing the ritual.

“LIAM!” Ruby screamed over the noise as the rest of their group were pelted down from the wind. “WHAT DID YOU DO!? I TOLD YOU TO GET JET BACK!"

“I WANTED TO SEE PRESTON AGAIN! I’M SORRY!”

The cavern soon changed color from the clear and cold sugar crystals to a dark brown and warm chocolate look. The ceiling broke open, having the Bulb light wash over them as the cavern filled with boiling hot chocolate and hardened rocks of mint rose from the ground. Stalks of sweet grass started to sprout through the mountain range and a river of melted ice cream began to flow down into the yogurt ocean.

The group of royals and fighters got their bearings back quickly and regrouped in the middle of the now fertile soil. Squealing was heard from a distance away and a small pig of brown chocolate fur and gummy spots came running from the foliage until it reached Liam.

“Pr-Preston?” Liam asked and the odd pig squeaked with joy. From all around them several other pigs made from mint, gummy, candy corn and chocolate appeared and surrounded them. Everyone of the pigs squealed in merriment.

“What the he-” Amethar was cut as the mountain itself shook. It sounded like a giant squeal. “Liam, Ruby… what the hell did you do?”

“I… We…” Both stammered not knowing the whole repercussions of their actions.

A god had been killed in their own halls. After that, the god’s killers sought to bring forth a being from another realm. The mountains need a keeper and someone for them to keep.

Another rumble shook the mountain and the chocolate started to over flow. Weapons were drawn but quickly were discarded as the fighters saw what caused the rumble.

From the hot chocolate fudge which flowed from the top of the mountains a half melted chocolate rabbit ear rose…
