Work Text:

Mixing drinks and making elixirs used to be a hobby. It was something fun to do with his transformation magic and made for something nice Kal and his friends could enjoy together.

Now it just felt like a chore. Sure, it got him closer to the king and a promotion to head of the Paradise Research Institute, but Kal was really little more than a glorified royal drug dealer. One of the greatest scientific minds in the history of the Blazing World, and he wasted it on the king’s secret vices.

Was this what it meant to serve the crown?

Thanks for reading! This was originally supposed to be for day one of Pulp Musicals Fortnight, but the event has now been delayed, and this won't work with the corresponding August of Whump prompts for the new day. So today and tomorrow I'm posting the two works that can't be shuffled around (out of the five total works I had completed before the announcement of the delay). Sorry half of August is Pulp Musicals now.
