It’s was late, the skeld’s lights had all turned off except for the medbay lights. Blue was sitting at his desk, filing paperwork as the equipment hummed in the background. The soft hum was comforting but annoying at the same time, blue’s hand was shaking as he tried to get 5 more papers done before he went to bed, but let’s be honest he would never be going to bed.
His hands shook so much that he dropped his pen twice, his mental health was clearly worsening, he barely sleeps and only drinks coffee or water to keep himself full. And most of it was caused by the stupid “swooning”.
That morning, he was helping the crewmates with their scan, everything was going well except for the part where they all got distracted by his handsome looks and they only spoke words to say he was hot or intensely pretty. Yes they were sweet compliments but literally no one talked about how good of a doctor he is or about how he is fun to be around despite of his looks. It all drilled holes in his self image to the point where he could barely look in a mirror without feeling a deep dark depressing pit in his stomach.
The only crewmate who treated him like he was an actual living being was Lime. Yes Lime tended to blush at him and say swoon but Lime still listened to Blue when he talked, Lime sometimes helped with cleaning up Medbay and they may or may night have held hands more than once. Their relationship was wholesome but not very appropriate for a patient and the Skeld’s doctor.
Blue’s thoughts slowly consumed him as he zoned out completely. His pen still in his hand and he was secretly getting sleepy.the skeld was completely dark, it was eerie and kinda creepy, surely no one would be awake at this time, right?
𝙇𝙄𝙈𝙀’𝙎 𝙋𝙊𝙑
He was crawling through the vents trying to find the gremlins that have been stealing his stuff. While crawling through the dusty vents, he accidentally cut his finger on a sharp piece of broken metal, he quietly hissed in pain as he looked at his bleeding finger.
Lime decided to ignore it, especially since medical equipment scared him. The more he crawled through the vents, the more blood dripped onto the cold metal. He continued his way to the reactor room to check on it, he popped his head through multiple different rooms before he found medbay, he was surprised and confused at the sight of blue still sitting at his desk this late.
Lime thought it wouldn’t hurt to check on Blue. Recently, blue has been way more tired than usual, the dark shadow under his visor was getting darker every day and Lime was getting concerned for blues well being. Lime noticed how Blue’s shoulders tensed up whenever someone swooned over him, it was clearly hurting Blue.
Lime hopped out of the vent and gently closed it behind him. Blue heard the soft noise and whipped his head around to see lime. Blue’s visor softened when he saw Lime and his body relaxed a bit, “oh hello Lime, what brings you here this late?” Blue asked softly “I just wanted to check on you, I saw you were awake and I uhh…I wanted to see if you were doing okay” Lime said, his gaze lowering towards Blue’s bandaged arm before Blue quickly pulled his sleeve down.
“Thats very sweet of you Lime, but I’m doing okay as of right now” blue’s voice came out shakier than he wanted to to be. Lime saw the bandages, he saw the bit of blood was was seeping through the bandages and his heart sunk as he put the pieces together. He knew pushing wasn’t a good option so he just slowly walked towards blue and gently put his hand on Blue’s shoulder and gave him this soft look that made Blue relax even further.
“What are you doing up this late? You need rest” Lime looked at the vitals and paperwork, his grip on Blue’s shoulder tightened slightly but not enough to hurt. “I just…needed to get some work done before I go to bed” “you don’t need to do that, you need rest” “but I just to do a few more papers”
“no buts Blue. You need rest”

Blue looked down at his shaky hands, he needed to do this, he would be a disappointment if he didn’t. He needed to prove he was a good doctor and that he was more than his looks. Blue felt his breathing start to get shaky. It felt weird to have someone care about his well being, especially by someone who is usually stubborn and hides most of the day.
Before blue could protest, Lime was already turning off his lamp and helping blue up. His hands gently helped blue onto one of the medbay beds. Blue was too tired to fight right now so he just accepted Lime’s care. Lime took off the little mirror on Blue’s head and helped Blue get his coat off. “Rest. You can’t function properly without sleep” Lime said as he cupped Blue’s face gently, smearing a tiny bit of blood onto Blue’s face from the cut on his finger.
Blue started to tear up a bit, he tried to stop it but he was genuinely crying.

Lime noticed the tears in Blue’s visor, he hesitated for a moment before slowly embracing blue, wrapping his arms around his and letting Blue cry into his shoulder. Blue’s tears soaked into Lime’s shirt and overalls but at this moment, neither of them cared.
