Wish Upon A Star (Gigi POV)

Summary:

Astro's quiet routine is disrupted when a new toon, Gigi, arrives at GardenView. Despite a rocky first impression, a string of awkward encounters, arguments and unexpected curiosity, they slowly draw together and form a relationship neither of them saw coming.

From Gigi's POV!

Notes:

I've made Astro's and Gigi's POVs as two different works, and I've linked them together in a series. This is for a couple of reasons. First, it keeps each chapter from becoming ridiculously long. Second, it makes it easier to stay immersed in whichever character's perspective you're reading without constantly sifting through a crap ton of paragraphs.

Chapter 1: Introduction

Chapter Text

“Hahah! I win again” I wrap my arms around the chips and drag them towards me.

“You had to have cheated! How can you win black jack 15 times in a row, Gigi?!’’ Glisten crosses his arms in anger.

“It's called luck“ I spin my lucky coin on the table watching it closely as it lands on heads.

“Wanna up the stakes for this one?” I ask knowing full well I would win, again.

“I’d rather cut up one of my bows than lose more fake money to you”. Glisten stands from his chair rather dramatically. “Im going to my room” He leaves with a huff.

I watched him walk away before cleaning up the poker chips and cards. As I walk to my room the speakers blare with that annoying jingle nearly scaring the crap out of me.

“Announcement! Announcement!“ the speakers scream with Dandy's voice “All toons to the main lobby!’’

I let out a sigh because the last thing I want to do right now is listen to an annoying main. Not to mention I’ve only seen Dandy on posters and I already don't like him. I set my stuff in my room before walking towards the main lobby.

The lobby is filled with all the toons jam packed into the small area. I almost trip over an annoyingly long blanket. “Hey what hek-” I clamp my mouth shut immediately seeing who it was. Astro. I’d only ever seen him on posters before too, and he was surprisingly tall.

Oh, I messed up. Please for the love of Arthur tell me I did not just trip over and yell at a main.

“Uh-.. I mean- sorry?” I turned around so fast that I think I got whiplash, walking a little too fast to get away from that situation.

I finally manage to find the only toons I’ve met since joining GardenView, Glisten, Connie and Flutter.

“Glad you made it, I was scared you died” Connie jested while giggling at her own joke.

I roll my eyes, turning my attention to Dandy and the other mains. They stand in the middle of the crowd, next to the big welcome sign in the lobby.

I thought I stood out, being dark red and all, but the mains truly stood out, clearly earning their titles. They were more put together in a way that made them seem well thought out.

All of them were different colors and heights, but my eyes kept making their way back to something shiny. It's a bad habit, I noticed, that shiny objects tend to catch my attention more than anything else.

That shiny object being Astro’s left eye, well it's not really an eye, more like a star.

The other mains caught my attention in different ways as well, like this one main.

His name is Sprout, I think. All I know is that he looked like a lot of fun to mess with. Then there was Vee, she seemed like a chill person to hang out with, if not a little smug, but she was very shiny.

All of the mains seemed to have such confidence and respect, all but one, that blue boy Astro was hiding slightly behind Dandy and Vee. After a second Dandy's voice booms, pulling my attention to him.

“Hello everyone! I called this announcement to welcome our newest member to the cast!” Dandy pauses to look down at the poster in his hand, “Gigi!” I can feel his gaze land on me before he calls me up to the front with an annoying wave.

Should I go up or stay here and wave back like a hello maybe? I can't decide and let out a mental sigh. I pull my lucky coin out of my pocket and toss it into the air; Tails I stay here, heads I go up.

I watched the coin rotate mid air before catching it, placing it flat on my sleeve.

Heads, looks like I'm going up…

As I make my way towards the front, I stick my tongue out to Connie who is giggling in the back.

“Hello dandy, nice to meet ‘cha” My tone is happy but my expression was anything but. I’d already heard about him.

Connie says he's stuck up and sneaky, that she caught him whispering a few times. Flutter said- well not said but she told me he’s a sketchy dude, and Glisten says he has no charisma or something like that.

Just by looking at him my inner gambler was telling me not to trust him, I think if I played him in black jack he’d win. That to me is a bad sign.

I make my way down the line of a few mains shaking their hands and patting the walking rock on the head, noting that Astro was standing slightly back.

I turn my attention back to the crowd of toons before announcing “Whats up guys, I’m Gigi, I like to ‘borrow’ things, gossip, collect, gambling, ect ect..”  I do a fake bow before waving to the crowd and walking back to my original spot.

“Welcome to GardenView, Gigi!” Dandy cheers, and walks off. After he ended the meeting or whatever that was, I was surrounded by toons.

All of them trying to talk to me in a jumble of “hello”s and “hi”s. I wave to a few of them.

Then like the wonderful friend Glisten is he pulls me out of the mosh pit I was just trapped in.

“Ugh toons, I swear they never learn when to stop talking” He flicks imaginary hair out of his face, earning him a giggle from me.

After a little chatting with Glisten and a bit of borrowing for my own entertainment. I notice one thing: not a single main came to introduce themselves to me.

Whatever, I wouldn't want to talk to them anyways….

After finding a suitable getaway path I duck into one of the three elevators. “Oki, now which button takes me to the rooms”? I hit all the buttons obviously.

After like 6 floors I finally found the room floor, I stepped out of the elevator, waving goodbye to it as any polite toon would do. Too ya know thank it for it serves or whatever.

I was finally on the way back to my room, that is until I feel a tap on my shoulder and almost slap Dyle.

“You can't sneak up on someone like that dude!” I nearly scream at the oversized pocket watch.

“I apologize I simply wanted to inform you of your toon duties.” His voice was way too proper for Gardenview. “You have a duty that is assigned to you just as every toon in Gardenview.’’ He adjusts his coat as if there was something wrong with it… there wasn't.

“Can you get to the point?” I ask. “I'm guessing I'm not teaching the kids how to gamble so what am I doing”

“Oh goodness not we would never teach such things here!” he even yells politely "you'll be working the gift shop counter, with a staff member of course.’’ He looks at his pocket watch

which I think is kind of weird, would he just look at himself or what? “Oh goodness dear look at the time must be going” He just walked off after that.

“Wonderful customer service, exactly what I’m good at” I grumble under my breath, but then I think about it, and slowly get really excited about the thought of being surrounded by items. All under my super vision, who's to say if a few go…. Missing.

I'm standing there in the middle of a halfway daydreaming of borrowing items and adding them to the collection. Normal mischief. Then all of a sudden, I’m jostled forward slightly from behind, almost falling flat to the floor.

“Listen I don't know who you are-” I slowly turn around, ”-but I’m already tired and not in the mood to tal-” I slam my mouth shut once I see that star eye for the second time today.

“Not you again…” I whisper under my breath. Does this guy make a habit of bumping into toons or something? She told me to respect the mains but I might make an exception for this one.

“I-i’m sorry- I didn’t see you I was just going to my room...” He mumbles as I see him shrink into his blanket thingy.

“Oh what, no you're fine!-“ I respond, the words flying out of my mouth as fast as I can make them. “If anything it's my fault I was standing in the hallway lost in space, ya know?”

Oh my Arthur, I’m an idiot, why would I ask him a question, please dont respond, please dont respond. Should I just walk away? I'm going to flip for it… no that would be weird to do a coin flip in the middle of a conversion, Gigi! And why are you internally yelling at yourself?!

My inner thoughts are cut off by him speaking…lovely,  “Um.. yeah, s-sure… I’ll see you around I suppose?” He quickly runs off to his room.

Not if I can help it you wont, was what I was going to say but instead, I murmur “Hopefully..” I used my best poker voice for that.

Once I got to my room I set all my newly borrowed things on a desk. I then set out to find a kitchen in this place.

After, like, wayyy too long of searching, I run into a strawberry looking guy. Wait I remember him, it's Sprout right? He probably cooks.. Right?

“Hey uh you wouldn't happen to know where some food is right? I'm dying over here.”

“Wow okay not even a hello huh? Or maybe an introduction?” Okay, I already don’t like this guy. Make sense, he’s a main.

“I kind of thought that was what the whole public thingy was..” I say waving my sleeves, “Come to think of it, you never introduced yourself, didja?”

“Fair point, the name is Sprout, and you're Gigi?” He asks, like he doesn't already know.

“Yup… but come to think of it, I'm not really hungry anymore so, uhhhhhh… Bye I guess.” I speed walk back to my room happy to be away from the toons that seem to be at every corner.

I walk over to my super cozy bed and plop down, fidgeting with the lucky coin she gave me. After a while my eyes get super heavy, I hate when it happens so I let out a sigh and give up, falling asleep.
