Chapter Text
A tall lanky figure can be seen strutting through the commercial district, in all her glory there she was, Katie looked around wondering what she would do in the server today.
As Katie strolled down the street of the commercial district, she had her phone in hand messaging anyone and everyone to join her in her shenanigans. Today was one of those boring days, the days where she didn't have anything planned and everyone else was preoccupied with their own things. She could do some grinding but her inventory was full at the moment, plus she didn't need to anyways. If she wanted something she could ask Don or Graf and they'd have it for her a minute later, anything she wanted she could have with just a couple of words. Though she did do some occasional grinding in the server, when most are asleep or too busy to interact with her she would go off and get supplies for any random event she could come across. This was probably the reason why her backpack was always so full and her chests slowly becoming unorganized again. But this was an occasional thing, only when she really had nothing to do. And believe her, she will always find something to do.
Luckily for her, Katie heard the unforgettable "ding" form her messages. Her eyes immediately flicked to the message at the top of her screen and her feline ears stood up, tail wagging aggressively. Her puppy dog appearance was one of the many wonders that kept this server in her favor.
needyourblood >> come to the lab
She immediately slipped the phone away to search for her trusted waystone, not wanting to waste anymore time between the few seconds the text was sent and when it finally came through.
-------------------------
"Multi!" Katie screamed as she reached the outside of the Polish Cave, looking for a way inside. She had been to Multi's lab a handful of other times, supposedly helping him with some sort of research or something which he never truly specified, though she had never really made it in on her own. It was something private, hidden away from the others, only few know of it. All she knew was if she got deep enough in the Polish Cave Multi would come out and take her there. She remembers the first time she accidentally stumbled upon there, going too deep into the cave and slowly losing her consciousness, waking up farther below in some sort of laboratory filled with all sorts of minerals and chemicals.
Hearing her screams, Multi prepared himself for the chaos soon to unfold. You'd think he'd be happy or maybe excited at the sound, considering he willingly answered her pleading texts, but really he wasn't here to stir up some trouble, at least not today that is. Though he did have a reason for condoning in her playful behavior, even though it wasn't exactly the type she'd hope for.
He opened up the security cameras he had planted around the cave, searching through each one even though he already knew where she'd be, in the same spot she always is. He thought it was sort of endearing, almost as if she subconsciously chose it knowing she would be seen by him somehow. He chuckled to himself, landing on the recording. With a press of a button gas began to fill the air around Katie. Multi watched as she smiled, slowly falling out of consciousness. Her body slammed into the wall first before reaching the ground.
He had thought about adding some sort of pillow or support system every once in a while, but always scraped the idea. To him it was wasteful to change and add in a whole new system just for someone else's comfort. Even if that someone was Katie B. He sighed as he turned off the screen, getting up from his seat.
Slowly Katie opened her eyes again, one at a time, she found herself in a new room. Usually upon arrival to the lab she would be set up on the floor in the corner of a chemical testing lab. This time she was on something soft, facing Multi, she could see him setting up something, not exactly sure what it was. He hummed a song during the process, eventually turning to check on Katie only to be met with her wide staring eyes and waging tail. Her blonde hair was done up in a bun per usual and she wore her pink business suit which, he truthfully added, looked unusually well considering it was a bright pink suit. She somehow seemed to pull it off. His humming dulled down as he turned back to his setup.
"I see you're finally up. Slept longer than usual this time." He said to her indirectly in his Polish accent, speaking in a low pitch which was interrupted occasionally by his naturally higher pitched voice.
"And I see you finally put a damn bed in here instead of dropping me on the floor." She yawned, stretching as she fixed herself up. Multi rolled his eyes, he had always handled her with care when it came to moving between rooms. A faint smirk started to form as Katie took in the sight in front of her, the pale and sickly looking man with his black and green ombre of dreads falling over his face as he finished up some final parts. His lab coat, which she's never seen him out of, was dirtied and colored by all sorts of things. Her smile eventually takes over her face, not for the reason you might be thinking though. She believes that she's finally earned some of the man's trust, which makes it easier for her to spy on him. Not for any reason in particular, just to know things.
Feeling her creepily wide eyes on him, Multi quickly finished up and took his gloves off, subconsciously dusting his hands on his coat due to habit.
"No dalej, no dalej." He ushered, waving his hands for her to come towards him. Following his orders based on the gestures, Katie rose from the bed and stood beside Multi. He took a few wires and attached them to electrodes, then turned towards her. He tilted his head, staring into her eyes, as if trying to read her mind.
“Am I supposed to do something?..” She asked, trying to read his mind at the same time. Which actually wasn’t a skill she had, but if she can shape-shift then surely she could mind-read eventually.
“Eh, come down, please. I cannot reach.”He asked awkwardly, she abided and bent forward allowing Multi to connect the equipment to her head to conduct an electroencephalogram (EEG). This was definitely new to Katie and definitely not what she came here for. He then sat her back down on the bed, making sure the equipment stayed in tact and was fully connected to the computer monitor. There was a moment of silence as he did so, faint breathing filling the room alongside the hum of the monitor.
"So this isn't really what I had in mind when I said, “let’s hangout.” Katie broke the silence, dragging out certain parts of the words.
“This is the work of the best friend, no? We do what I like and sometimes what you like.” He reasoned as he turned to her, he would’ve crouched down to her level but she was tall even when sitting. It didn’t help that he wasn’t exactly average height either.
She crossed her arms, “I mean, I guess..” She was just grateful for the company, even if it was some odd science experiments. She was a bit intrigued though, wanting to know more about what he studied.
”So what exactly are we doing here, and what’s with the wires? Are you gonna like read my brain and stuff and the activity in there?”
“Yes, something of that.” He stumbled out in an unsure tone. Katie had noticed he often spoke as if he didn't know what he would say next, as if the words coming out of his own mouth were foreign to him. Which might be true, considering he isn't a native English speaker, but the trait picked up even into his Polish.
”Well I’ll tell you now, there is a lot of activity going on in there.” She chuckled.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm very sure." He turned toward the monitor and focused on finishing the setup, filtering out her mindless talking. He wasn't a doctor and this was honestly all new for him, but he was willing to test out all sorts of stuff to find the answer he wanted.
Over the span of her visits, Multi noticed certain details about her changing, small but noticeable enough to someone who doesn't see her as often. Some days she had more freckles than the other, some days she had darker hair strands, some with lighter or darker irises. It's like trying to remember what someone looks like after not seeing them for so long, tiny details are twisted. But he had been keeping track of these anomalies by taking a screen shot of her through the security cameras with each visit, just to make sure he wasn't losing it more than he already had. He's had his theories, the one that makes the most sense is a clone pretending to be her. But whatever it was, he knows there's something going on, and he wants to know what.
"Okay, Katie, today is your day. You are so helpful, such a good bestie," He cringed at the word, trying to use Ewron's form of manipulation, "You can help me with a test of mine."
"Really? Of course I can help you bestie!" She exclaimed, pretending to wipe tears from her eyes, Multi really didn't know how much that meant to her.
"Yes, yes, and first I need blood."
"Blood? Like my-" Before she could finish Multi took a sample of her blood from her index finger using a prick of a needle."
"Oww! Dude! That hurt!" Katie immediately jolted up, her brows furrowing and ears standing up.
"Shh, shh." Was all Multi said, collecting the sample with a petri dish and setting it aside for later, he prepared to begin the tests.
"Unbelievable..What are you gonna do with that, huh? Make a clone of me?" She spat back. Multi perked up, his suspicion growing. Katie noticed.
"So you are!"
"No! Kurwa, I don't want a clone of you. Who would ever want that?" He fixed his posture, then focused his attention to the screen. He watched as the waves began to come through. Searching for any abnormalities, at least compared to what he had researched.
"Well I'm sure a lot of people would, for your information." She scoffed.
"Please be quiet. I need to, uh, take this with no talking." He asked as he held a hand up to her from behind him. She rolled her eyes but abided to his orders.
-------------------------
The whole thing took about 45 minutes to finish and Katie was extremely bored throughout its entirety.
"Okay." Multi sighed, adding an 'ah' at the end of the word. He removed the equipment off of an exhausted looking Katie, disconnected the monitor, and began to pack up. Katie stretched after being freed from the horribly boring experiment, which as an absolute waste of her day. The first thing she did was take out her phone where she was met with over 100 messages.
"What the hell?" She said to herself, shocked by the number. Multi turned his head for a quick minute to check on her. She scrolled through the messages, everyone answering her previous request, others having things for her, and some worrying for her. She let out a snarky laugh, she knew none could resist her. Looking through all her messages, she had an idea. Looking up from her phone, she shared it.
"Multi! There is just all this animosity on the server, you know." She started.
"Yeah." He said unsure as he dusted off his hands. He had what he needed and he was ready for her to leave so he can get to the important stuff.
"And you know how we are besties now," Excited she jumped up to hug him, almost crushing his bones. He coughed when she released him and she began to show him all the messages, slinging her arm over his shoulder.
"In order to settle this and bring everyone together, we should hold a server sleepover!" She finally finished. Her tail was wagging vigorously and her smile was as wide as ever. Though Multi wanted nothing to do with this.
"Yes, yes! That's so good Katie, you should go do that now. Bye, bye!" He ushered her out, even though she could clearly tell he didn't care, she dragged him into it still.
"I knew you'd agree bestie!" She tightened her grip around him, "So, I'll start on the posters and you can tell everyone, see you tomorrow bestie!" With that she teleported to her HQ.
Multi didn't know what he was getting himself into, but getting closer to Katie could provide so much more information. The real question was, is this really worth it?
