Work Text:

Arlecchino:
-You weren’t happy anymore…your wife was away from home more than she was ever there
-You knew it would be rough to be in a relationship with her knowing what she did
-But you’d only see her a few hours a week
-Half the time she wasn’t even in the region long enough to even say hello
-While she did try to give you her attention when she was there, she was too busy to even seem like she enjoyed it
-You knew she did…but the nagging feeling wouldn’t go away
-And while you did love her, missing her and wondering when she’d come home was too much
-It took a lot of courage, to finally confront her and tell her how you felt
-“Arlecchino…” You’d start saying
-She would turn to you, her arm still wrapped around your shoulders as you sat on the couch
-“I want a divorce” You said, pulling yourself back and out of her arms
-She was always a master of hiding her emotions, but you saw a slight flicker of hurt in her expression before she quickly hid it
-“No.” She spoke, low and factual
-It baffled you, and your jaw dropped
-“You can’t just say no! Be reasonable about this!”
-“Do you know how dangerous it is out there?” She spoke, and there was an intensity in her eyes that would have you shivering
-She’d reach out and cup your cheek in her hand
-“I can’t just let you go. There are people who would take you from me, harm you in ways you couldn’t even fathom just because they’ll know who you are.”
-She’d stroke your cheek with her thumb, look at you with a mixture of fear and adoration while struggling to stay composed
-You didn’t back down, and she sighed
-“If that’s what you want, I simply can’t allow it. It’s for your safety, remember that.”
-You were confused when she stood up, and walked out the door
-It would make you scoff, and release the breath you didn’t know you were holding
-You’d get your things, but stop at the door leading out of the house
-You tried, over and over, to open it. But the lock wouldn’t budge
-Did she seriously trap you in here?
-It made you panic and try all the windows and doors
-You could just barely see the darkness outside
-But there’s no reason it would be entirely blacked out in the middle of the day
-After a while you’d flop onto the bed, screaming in frustration
-You saw a note, and you were tempted to throw it out
-But curiosity got the better of you
-Opening it, your blood ran cold
-“You matter to me more than anything else. I’d give you anything, aside from letting you leave me. I’ll be back in a few days. This will give you time to reconsider.”
-“Even if you want me to let you go…I’ll do anything to keep you here.”
-“Rather you want me to or not.”

Furina:
-The start of your relationship was amazing, and it helped you both grow stronger together
-But things were the same as they always were
-That was part of the problem
-It wasn’t that she was boring…far from it even
-But she couldn’t be mature in nearly any situation
-If you had to leave, she’d whine and cling to you, begging you to stay at home with her
-If she had to leave, she’d nearly cry and say how much she was going to miss you
-She was clingy, and while you thought it was cute at first, now it just felt unhealthy
-She was spending so much time with you, and didn’t even seem to notice how you’d mentally distanced yourself
-After a long few weeks of contemplating, you decided to break the news
-“Furina…I want a divorce” You’d say softly, because while you weren’t in love with her like you were before, she did still mean a lot to you
-Her expression was entirely shocked, and her jaw dropped as tears immediately started falling
-“This is a bad prank” She’d cry, feebly reaching out for you
-When you backed out of her reach she sobbed, lunging at you and clinging to you almost painfully
-“It’s a bad prank. A stupid one. A stupid, stupid, STUPID one!” She’d sob, her hands clutched so tightly around your shirt you thought it may tear
-You’d struggle to pull back from her, but she wasn’t letting up
-With a sigh, you’d grab her shoulders to put distance between you and make her look at you
-“That’s…the main problem in our relationship. Not everything is “fun”, not everything is a joke, and not everything is a game!” You’d sigh once more, rubbing your temple in frustration
-“I do love you, but I can’t keep doing this. You don’t take anything seriously! Like ever!” You’d groan, and open your eyes to see an expression on her face you’d never seen before
-“Seriously…?” She’d mutter, and give you a look as if she wasn’t truly looking AT you, but THROUGH you
-You couldn’t think of what to say, but she spoke again before you had the chance to
-“Okay…then let’s be serious. You tell me what’s wrong, you tell me what you want, and I’ll do.” Her eyes were dark, and the expression honestly startled you a bit
-“If you want me to be serious? Then I will be. Because I’m SERIOUSLY,” She spoke, emphasizing the word with an almost snarl, “Not letting you go. I don’t care what it takes.”
-She brushed your hands off her shoulders and tugged you closer to her by the front of her shirt
-“Oh I can be serious alright. And I will be, because that’s what you want”
-She let out a laugh that sent a chill down your spine
-“Because, baby…you’re not leaving me. Give me another chance, I’ll be whatever you want me to be.” She said in almost a hiss
-Despite knowing better, this change in her was one you didn’t expect
-The seriousness was both jolting and…straight up terrifying
-But maybe…she really could change
-Something about it made you want to do as she said, and give her a second chance
-Even if the new dangerous air around her wasn’t one safe for you to be in

Mavuika:
-While Mavuika usually respected your wishes, there was something that always bothered you
-She was an archon, and while it made you feel safe, there was always the public eye surrounding you
-You had to pretend to be just another citizen of Natlan, never being shown as her wife
-She didn’t even wear her wedding ring when she was out of the house, and made you have your wedding in an entirely different region so none of the citizens knew she was even married!
-You wanted her to be proud of you…maybe even show you off sometimes, and make sure people knew you were taken
-You tried to voice it to her, but she always avoided the topic
-She’d evade any questions, and just change what you were talking about without entertaining the conversation entirely
-So it was time…and as much as you hated it, it felt like a reasonable decision
-“Mavuika…I’m sorry, but…I want a divorce.”
-She stopped cooking, turning back and looking at you with shock
-“...why?” She asked, her voice nearly devoid of emotions
-“Because…you never let people know we’re together. It’s messed up to take off your wedding ring, why should anyone need to think you aren’t married!”
-Your words were pleading, begging her to understand that you couldn’t do this anymore
-She sighed, and turned off the heat to walk over to you
-She was always a tall woman, but now standing in front of the couch you were sitting at, she towered over you in a way that was far more than intimidating
-Your breath hitched as she knelt down in front of you, taking your hand and brushing her thumb along your wedding ring
-The smile on her face was far too calm, and left you feeling waves of eeriness just by looking at her
-“And why should people need to know? What if I like having you all to myself?” She cooed, her free hand cupping your cheek
-“Because…I want people to know I love you, and that you love me. Or even at the very least know you’re taken.” You mumbled, almost hesitantly
-She let out a soft laugh, hand trailing from your cheek to the back of your neck as she harshly pulled you closer
-The look in her eyes honestly terrified you
-Her eyes looked nearly angry, but she had the calmest smile on her face
-“Love, they don’t need to know. Because honestly…” She leaned in, whispering against your ear
-“I’d rather give up being an archon if it meant I could have you all to myself”
-It made you shiver, wondering what this dark side of her you’re seeing was…or if it was always there, just waiting beneath the surface
-“You’re not leaving me, because I’ll do whatever it takes to keep you.”
-“You know why? Because you’re mine. And I’ll tear down anyone else who thinks they can have you. Extreme? Maybe…but the thought of people looking at you? Makes my blood boil. If you went out in public with me, do you know how many people would look at you?”
-She let out another laugh, pulling back to look into your eyes
-“No…no. I like the thought of you being for my eyes alone far more than keeping up with useless public appearances”
-“So no, you’re not leaving me.” She pressed her forehead against yours as she smirked
-“You really don’t want to know what I’ll do if you try and say anything like that again. Okay love?”
