The White Lady of Hogwarts

Summary:

Hogwarts has a mysterious legend about the White Lady of Hogwarts, a ghost in a white nightgown with a blood stain over her heart. Many fear her, but she is actually a protector.

After her death, she stayed at Hogwarts because she could not leave her twin sister behind. She protects students, especially Harry Potter, from the dangers around him.

The White Lady understands that people can change. She sees the good in Severus Snape and reveals to James and Lily Potter that he helped protect their son.

Her story is about love, forgiveness, and a guardian who continues protecting others even after death.

Chapter 1: The Ghost in White

Chapter Text

Hogwarts had many secrets.

Some were hidden behind ancient doors. Some were written in forgotten books. Some were buried deep beneath the castle, waiting for someone brave enough to find them.

But one secret was different.

It walked through the halls.

Students had whispered about her for generations.

They called her the White Lady of Hogwarts.

Some said she was a warning. Others said she was a ghost searching for something she had lost. A few claimed that seeing her meant something terrible would happen.

But they were wrong.

The White Lady was not a monster.

She was a guardian.

On quiet nights, when the moonlight touched the castle towers, a figure in white could be seen wandering through the corridors. Her pale skin almost shimmered beneath the moon, and her long white gown moved silently behind her.

Over her heart was a faded blood stain.

It was the only mark on her otherwise beautiful, ghostly appearance.

Her eyes carried the deepest sadness anyone had ever seen. She often looked toward the moon, as if searching for someone beyond the stars.

Her sister.

The one person she had never stopped loving.

Long ago, she had made a choice. She could have moved on, but she could not leave her twin sister alone with her grief. So she stayed.

She stayed at Hogwarts.

She stayed as a protector.

And though she could travel through every corner of the castle, there was one place she could never reach.

Beyond England.

Beyond the sea.

Her sister’s home in Oregon.

The White Lady could protect hundreds of students, but she could never visit the person she had stayed behind for.

That was the sadness she carried forever.

Years later, a young boy arrived at Hogwarts.

Harry Potter.

Many people knew his name. They knew the story of the boy who survived. They knew the scar, the prophecy, and the darkness that followed him.

But they did not know everything.

They did not know that before Harry ever stepped into Hogwarts, someone had already been watching over him.

The White Lady had seen the way the world treated him.

She had seen his loneliness.

She had seen the house where he was supposed to be safe but where he often felt like a stranger.

And she decided something.

No child should have to face the world alone.

So she became his shadow.

Whenever Harry felt lost, she was there.

Whenever danger came near, she watched.

She never wanted praise.

She never wanted anyone to know her name.

She only wanted him to have the protection he deserved.

Because she knew what it was like to lose someone.

She knew what it was like to love someone so much that even death could not make you leave.

The first time Harry saw her, he thought the stories were true.

He was walking through Hogwarts late one evening when he noticed a figure standing near a window.

A girl in white.

She did not move.

She only looked at the moon.

For a moment, Harry wondered if he should run.

Then she turned.

And instead of anger, he saw sadness.

Not the sadness of someone who wanted to hurt him.

The sadness of someone who had been waiting for a very long time.

“You are not afraid of me,” she whispered.

Harry looked at her carefully.

“No,” he answered.

The White Lady seemed surprised.

Most people feared what they did not understand.

But Harry had known loneliness too.

And somehow, he understood hers.

For the first time in many years, the ghost smiled.

A small, gentle smile.

“Then perhaps,” she said softly, “you are the one person who can finally hear my story.”

And beneath the light of the Hogwarts moon, the legend of the White Lady began again.
