Wifies didn't know why Hummer was so enamored with finding the leviathan. At least Wifies himself had a reason! He wanted to solve this mystery, true or not, and post a video about it, and move on to the next one. When he emailed Hummer, he thought that he would just expose Hummer's lie, move on, and find someone else to get information from.
And yet, when Hummer led him to where he had been logging all of his information about the leviathan, Wifies didn't just log out. He could have. He probably should have, from the way the other was talking. He sounded almost…fanatical about finding the leviathan. And yet, Wifies stayed.
Maybe it was because he couldn't resist the call of a good mystery. Maybe it was because, subconsciously, he thought this could make for good content. Just a crazy Minecraft role player who got a little too deeply invested in his role. If nothing else, he would get a good laugh out of this.
But, soon Wifies found himself investing real world time into this, more than just looking for clues like he did when he was making his videos about Avery and D3rlord3. He was actually having fun, exploring with Hummer, trying to find the leviathan. Wifies still wasn't sure it was real, nor was he sure that Hummer was all there, but they were enjoying themselves nonetheless.
But Hummer was acting strange, pushing Wifies to forgo the use of creative mode or potions in order to find this thing. He seemed convinced that if they just believed hard enough, if they didn't use any “tricks” or “cheats,” they would be able to find it. The longer this went on, the more Wifies was inclined to believe that it wasn't real.
But he liked Hummer, as odd as the other was. He didn't want to give up on exploring with the other. It was just for the video, he tried to tell himself, but he knew deep down that he wanted to believe in Hummer. He seemed so desperate to be believed, to be trusted, and Wifies couldn't help but want to give him that trust.
So, the next time Hummer asked him to drown, this time together, Wifies agreed. He wouldn't use that extra potion he grabbed. He would trust Hummer.
Maybe that's why he got so upset when it didn't work. He placed his trust in Hummer, and was met with nothing but death and a permanent ban from the server with the most cataloged research on the creature.
It was too hard to stay mad at him, though. For some reason, Wifies just couldn't help but want to believe in him. Maybe he was right, maybe it was the extra potion he had kept in his inventory. Whatever it was, they were going to try again.
It was a little odd, that throughout all of the chaos of trying to steal some materials to make a flying machine, betting on bone meal and losing with a 75 dollar cost, that no one really seemed to talk to Hummer. They responded just fine to himself, but when the TV head said anything, there wasn't a reaction from any of the other players. Maybe his mic was broken, and was only coming through on Wifies’ end.
Whatever the case, they had their materials, Wifies was 75 bucks poorer, and they ventured off into the ocean once more. It was nice, talking with Hummer as they passed by rows upon rows of kelp.
And honestly, Wifies should have expected it by now. Hummer, pulling out a block of TNT to light shouldn't have been a shock. He didn't know why he thought this time might be different, but Hummer was the exact same person he was at the start of their journey. And, for some unfathomable reason, the same person he still decided to trust.
He made sure to throw away his extra potions, to discard anything that might possibly give him any advantage in survival, and watched Hummer blow up the flying machine that he had paid 75 real world dollars to make. Jumping into the depths of the ocean after him was only expected at this point, and Wifies had come too far to give up on this now.
Watching his character on screen take damage, watching Hummer take damage, was nerve racking. Wifies didn't know if this would work. But he had to trust Hummer. This couldn't have been for nothing. And when this was all done, he would see about getting Hummer's number. Maybe they could become friends outside of this Minecraft mystery.
As the last of his hearts were taken away, Wifies stared in disbelief at his screen. He wasn't drowning anymore…he was still alive. It was real…it worked! He called to Hummer, but received no answer. The reason why became obvious, as items slowly floated up, rising towards the surface. Why…why him…why him and not Hummer? Why was he chosen, when Hummer was the one who believed in the leviathan the most?
He couldn't explain what happened next, nor what came after he fell into what he could only assume was the leviathan's domain. The only thing keeping him from thinking he somehow hallucinated the whole thing was the fact that his recording from his phone was untouched. All he knew was that when he woke up, it was to that annoying player asking for his materials back, the ones Wifies had already paid 75 whole dollars for.
Wifies didn't know if he would ever see Hummer again, but he had to reach out anyways. With any luck, Hummer would believe him, the way he believed in Hummer, and they could start searching anew for whatever this leviathan actually was.
For now, he would simply take the footage he did have, and make a video that Hummer could be proud of. Hopefully he was out there, watching. Wifies just had to believe in him, like he should've since the beginning.
