Work Text:
The breeze was warm on her face, the crowd reaching a fever pitch as she sat in the middle of the ring. Her heart pounding In her chest as she watched him walk away.
Walk away with his arm around her.
She sucks in a breath, willing herself to keep it together as they walk away, willing herself to not let them see her cry. She blinks, forcing the tears away as her lip trembles. Just a few more seconds and she could let them fall, allow herself to break. Then she hears a voice, muffled and looks around but finds nobody in the ring with her.
The voice is so close and persistent, right in her ear. “Mami, Mami wake up. You’re having a nightmare.”
Rhea jerks forward, blinking rapidly as her vision clears and the dimly lit bedroom comes into view. She blinks again, tears streaming down her face as she turns her head. Dominik stares back at her, a frown on his face. “Mami, are you alright?” He asks, gently cupping her face as she stares at him.
“It..it was so real” She finally chokes out, swallowing the lump in her throat. Rhea watches as his frown only deepens, his arms wrapping around her immediately. “What happened?0” He asks and she sinks into his hold. “My return match, you walked away with Liv” she mutters, halfway pressing her face into his chest.
Her eyes slip closed and she inhales, the smell of his cologne still lingering even after the long day they had. “Well, that would be a nightmare for me too. I would never leave you, not in a million years.” He says, rubbing her arm. “They would have to of replaced me with a clone or put me under some spell to make me do something stupid like that.” He says, leaning down to kiss her head. “Especially not for someone like Liv Morgan.” He says, making her laugh at the pure annoyance in his voice.
“Not my type in the slightest, besides getting on your bad side is the last place I want to be.” He says and she pulls back, opening her eyes to look up at him. “So you’re staying with me so you don’t get on my bad side?” She asks with a slight smile and he lets out a laugh. “Of course you only pick out the last bit, you are absolutely ridiculous.”
He cups her cheek again, this time making sure to hold eye contact. “I love you Rhea, nobody will ever change how I feel about you. Your nightmares may try and tell you otherwise but they’re beyond wrong. They can’t change what really happened, how I’m with you forever. Or until you inevitably get annoyed with me and bury me in the back yard.”
Rhea laughs “Not happening, I’ve attached a chain to your leg and I am keeping you forever.” She shifts, moving closer “As if I’d want it any other way, just about attached the chain myself.” He says with a hum and she leans up to kiss him.
“Forever, Dom Dom?”
“Forever, Mami”
