Chapter Text
“Protagonist! There you are! Fight me!”
Zef yelled as Oryn skidded to a stop with the familiar voice of his villain behind him. He whipped his head around to be faced with Zef, the one face he did not wanna see right now. He had promised his sister he would visit her, and Oryn couldn’t risk her health. So, in an attempt to leave this so-called “fight”, he runs. He takes off in a sprint, when Zef uses his magic move that Oryn can’t find a name for, to pull him back.
“Ugh! I don’t want to fight you!”
Oryn struggles under the tight grip. When Zef calls out,
“Just fight me! Are you that weak protagonist?”
Oryn does his best to ignore him and continues to struggle under the grip from the shouting villain. He eventually breaks free and sprints far out of sight. Zef groans and looks at his friends.
“Why does he never wanna fight!”
One of his henchmen shrugs and Zef tugs on his long, dark hair. All of the sudden, a memory from when Zef had saved him from that large crowd caused by that love interest girl. Ugh, he hated his role someti- what in the world was he thinking! He knows that fate has to keep them rivals. So why even try! He was getting off topic. Anyway, a memory entered his mind of oreo or whatever his name was. Revealed something, something he hadn’t even cared to think about until now. (Which was a complete lie he thought about it on the daily but we move on) The words echoed in his head,
There’s something I must protect. No matter what. Even… if it means becoming a burden to you.
He hated hearing that last sentence. Even though he pissed him off more often than not, he was never considered a burden by Zef. But, that wasn't important right now.
“Um hello? Earth to boss?”
Zef hadn’t realized he was zoning out until his friends were calling his name and snapping their fingers. Before he could stop himself, he took off sprinting in the direction that his protagonist went. His friends called out after him, but he didn’t really care. He just needed to find out what was so important that he would sabotage his own happiness.
NOW OVER TO ORYN
His legs burned but he ignored it. He promised he wouldn’t be late.
I know he said I wasn’t a burden to him, but I can’t help feeling like one. Why do I even try, this is all one sided. He doesn’t even know of my plan! I’m just being selfish. But, all this embarrassment from this whole mess is worth it for her. But why would Zef ever actually like me? I’m his protagonist. He’s my-
His train of thought was cut off by the sounds of ambulances getting closer and closer. He was getting close. Finally, he could see his sister again. He walked through the big doors and greeted the front desk lady.
“Welcome back Oryn! You're all checked in!”
“Oh, thank you!”
”My pleasure! Tell your sister I hope she feels better. Poor girl…”
He nodded and started to walk off, when he felt a force pull towards the entrance. He whipped his head around, yet he saw no one important.
Strange…
He decided against going to see what it was and continued walking towards the ward his sister was in.
