hyunjin pov
4:29 Pm. October 17th.
It was raining. Hyunjin hated rainy days. Matter of fact, he despised them. One thing he didn’t hate though, was school. He loved school. He would always ace every single test. Get A’s on every assignment. He was top of his graduating class. Hyunjin is what you would call a “popular” boy. He was popular, beautiful and gifted. Even though with his popularity, he still felt lonely. He’s a sophomore in college and is an art major with a performing arts minor. He was always artistic, he would draw any second he could get. He had a roommate named Jeongin. Jeongin was what people would call a “pretty boy”. Jeongin was sort of cold towards Hyunjin. They didn’t click. Jeongin didn’t really have much friends on campus. Jeongin would go to classes not caring how he looked. He would dress nice and do his hair nice but, none of it mattered to him. Jeongin was an education major. He was also a sophomore in college. Even though he was so cold to Hyunjin, Hyunjin had a crush on him. It started their freshman year of college when they were just moving into their dorms. Jeongin was “nicer” back then. Hyunjin couldn’t get his face out of his mind since that day. He made it his mission to get closer to Jeongin from that day fourth.
4:56 Pm October 17th.
Hyunjin was just getting home from classes for the day. Jeongin had already arrived home. Hyunjin opened the dorms door and shut it quietly behind him. he walked over to his bed and set his bag down before sitting down himself. He looked at Jeongin, who was writing in his notebook. Hyunjin sighed and took his phone out. Him and Jeongin didn’t talk much unless they needed to. Hyunjin tried to focus on his phone but his gaze kept shifting to Jeongin.
“Jeongin. Why are you always writing in that notebook?” Hyunjin broke the silence. It was killing him.
“It’s notes, Hyunjin.” Jeongin looked up from his notes. “I’m studying for a big test.”
“What class?” Hyunjin smirked. He liked to keep the conversation flowing. Jeongin didn’t.
Jeongin didn’t answer. He was starting to get irritated with Hyunjin. The silence between the two boys stretched on longer than expected. Jeongin hated small talk. He went back to writing his notes in silence. Hyunjin sighed quietly and slipped his shoes off before laying down in his bed. He scrolled on his phone for what felt like hours to him. He checked the time stamp on his phone and frowned. 5:09 Pm. “Jeongin.” Hyunjin looked up from his phone again.
“Yes?” Jeongin muttered out with an annoyed tone
“Should i get us food? We don’t really have anything here..” Hyunjin mumbled and put his phone down.
“Sure. If you want.”
“What do you want? I’m probably gonna grab something quick…”
“Anything’s fine.”
With that Hyunjin was off. He hated not knowing what to get to eat. He walked to the nearest McDonalds and grabbed them food. He noticed that some of his friends were inside the building. Hyunjin walked in and spotted BangChan and Felix. He walked over to them quietly, in an attempt to scare them. It didn’t work.
“Hyunjin-ah!” Felix shouted loudly to the few people in the McDonald’s.
“You don’t need to shout, Felix..” BangChan muttered but turned to look at the approaching Hyunjin.
“Hey guys.” He stopped close to their table. Giving them space. “You two on a date?”
Felix nodded eagerly. He was obsessed with BangChan. He brought him up every time he could.
“Yeah, we are.” BangChan nodded.
“Cute.” Hyunjin mumbled. He was happy for them. “I’m gonna go order.. I promised i would get Jeongin food.”
The two boys waved as Hyunjin walked away. Hyunjin felt something inside, as if it was contradicting his feelings towards Jeongin. He walked up to a kiosk and tapped the screen. It was cold to the touch but Hyunjin didn’t care. He quickly ordered their food and paid. he waited in silence as their food was being made. He checked the time on his phone. 5:23 Pm. He couldn’t tune out the annoying machines that were going off in the kitchen. They pissed him off. The food came out five minutes later. 5:28 Pm. He grabbed it and walked out. Hyunjin felt the cold air hit his face as he walked along the sidewalk. He made it back to his and Jeongin’s dorm quickly. He opened the door and shut it quietly behind him. He set the bag down and handed Jeongin his food. “Eat before it gets cold” Hyunjin said as he took his jacket off.
“Thank you.” That’s all Jeongin said before opening the food.
“I saw Chan and Felix there. At McDonald’s.” Hyunjin tried to have small talk again but instead sounded like he was desperate for a conversation.
“Date?”
“Yeah. They were on a date.”
6:30 Am. October 18th.
Hyunjin woke up to his alarm blaring in his ear. He quickly shut it off before sitting up and rubbing his eyes. He turned and looked at Jeongin stirring at his own alarm. Hyunjin groaned quietly and walked to the bathroom. He looked at himself in the mirror and rolled his eyes. He brushed his teeth. The flavor of winter mint flooded his mouth and made it feel numb. He finished up and grabbed some clothes for the day. He checked the time on his phone. 6:36 Am. He glanced at Jeongin again, this time he was sitting up and scrolling through his phone. “Wake up, Jeongin. We have classes”
“I know, Hyunjin…” Jeongin let out a hollow groan before standing up.
Hyunjin walked back into the bathroom to change. He changed fairly quickly and walked back out to their beds. He put his shoes on and watcher Jeongin walk to the bathroom like a zombie. After he slipped his shoes on, he walked to the kitchenette and started the coffee pot for him, something he always did without questioning it.
Without thinking, Hyunjin left for his first class.
