Chapter Text
Before a shift, head nurse decides to text intern to remind him of something he often forgets.
Head Nurse
⠀> Don't forget to take your meds today.
⠀> we don't need another incident like the 5th.
Intern
⠀> ✅
Head Nurse
⠀> see you at 8am
Head Nurse clocks in at 7:56am. She walks up to intern who's currently chugging coffee in the front office. She pats him on the head, ruffling his 'hair' (fur).
"Hey ####, don't overwork yourself again alright?" Head nurse says. Intern nods in return, he typically doesn't speak to most people, nobody knows why or if he's always been this way.
Harlow walks into the office, setting his briefcase down, he's always the first one there. "####, you doing alright? Your emotions are regulated right?" Harlow asks, He's always one to ask if they're okay.
Head nurse rolls her eyes, equally as cocky as yesterday and the day before. "I told you to stop using my real name on the clock." Harlow smirks in response
"I can do what I want, ####." Harlow says in response, Head nurse just groans.
"Head Nurse!" Nurse yells, excited as she sees head nurse treating a patient. Head nurse smiles in response and finished treating the patient. Secret Agent kills an anomaly intern accidentally let in, average day at the hospital.
Head nurse dusts her hands off and walks outside the room, planning on talking to Nurse. "Did you need something, Nurse?" she says, walking to the trash to throw away a paper towel.
Nurse smiles widely, "Can't I just see my friend? also where did you get paper towels from??" She tilts her head, confused.
"Personal stash. there's some in the cabinets." She responds looking back to Nurse. "You consider us friends? that's weird." She looks away "We should keep in hospital relationships purely professional."
Nurse just sighs "I know. but like, I can be professional and be friends with you!" She smiles widely again, hands on her hips.
"If that's what you believe. Just don't get too attached," Head Nurse walks off, Leaving Nurse confused. The hell does "don't get too attached" imply??
Head nurse walks into Dr Harlow's office, dusting her hands off. "Harlow," she says, pausing a moment. "Why Do you have to keep hiring new workers, I can do the job just fine on my own. I hate getting attached. you know this,"
Harlow nods in return, mask off showing pointy teeth, not like Head Nurse hasn't seen it before. "You know we're understaffed, that's why I hired intern."
Head Nurse sighs, "You didn't hire him you saved him." Harlow shrugs, Smirking as he speaks "Saved you too."
"You didn't save shit. I was fine on my own." Head Nurse says, grumbling and leaning on the wall. "you were never 'fine', I found you with scratches all over your arms and back." Harlow says, that makes head nurse still.
"Those were self inflicted, I could handle myself fine. I know my own body just aswell as you know yours." Head Nurse says, fists clenched. Dr Harlow squints in response.
"#### you can quite literally take out an anomaly in one hit, Plus you don't know yourself, we still haven't been able to figure out what you are." Harlow says, equally as confused as he is pissed.
"That's just because I'm used to this. I've been here the longest, other than you, Mr anomaly." Harlow sighs, "Stop calling me that." Head nurse rolls her eyes "Alright 'doctor'."
Intern is checking Ratthew in as Head Nurse walks in to drink the Coffee. Intern waves at Ratthew as he walks off. Head Nurse turns to Intern, who looks a little shook up.
"Stalker thing get ya?, I didn't know it even existed before You started working here and you told me about it. Apparently everyone but me has seen it, Do you think it's scared of me or something?" Head nurse Says. intern shrugs before speaking. "I wouldn't be surprised if it was."
Intern only talks to Head Nurse and Harlow, only people he trusts. Everyone else thinks he's mute or something. Secret Agent calls him silent but deadly, whatever that means.
Secret agent shoots another anomaly in the treatment room. Head Nurse sighs, "You gotta be more careful of who you let in, Secretary gets pissed when he finds out you keep letting anomalies in while he's absent."
"Oops..?" Intern says, rubbing the back of his neck. Head Nurse sighs, "It's fine. I know you don't mean to. But seriously dude he's yelled at me because apparently I'm the only one who can get through to you or something."
"I mean it's kinda true.." Intern says. "Then I'm lucky to have you trust me, I suppose." Head Nurse says in response before walking off to the back of the rooms.
Secret agent goes up to Intern. "You're not like the rest of us, fucks up with you." Intern tilts his head, confused with that same smile. "See? you never change your damn expression it freaks me out."
Secret agent puts his gun out, aimed towards intern. Nurse steps in and breaks them up. "Guys—guys! don't fight! we need to focus on getting people in and treated and keeping the anomalies out!"
Secret agent grumbles but walks off.
Intern walks into one of the patient rooms where Head Nurse is treating someone, or was. When he walks in he sees head nurse with blood on her hands, scratch marks on the now anomaly's face. She turns around and looks at Intern. "Hey ####, I'm guessing Secretary finally clocked in?" Intern nods.
"Yeah alright. Can you get me a paper towel?" Intern nods and gets Head Nurse a paper towel from the cabinet.
"Did you like scratch his face in?" Intern asks, Head Nurse nods as she wipes her hand and throws the used paper towel away.
"Hey Intern, Nurse rants to you sometimes right? What does she say about me?" Head Nurse asks Intern
"She calls you a hard worker and calls you dedicated to your job." Intern tells her, Head nurse shrugs in response, "She's not wrong." Head Nurse confirms with a slight smug look
That night after Harlow clocks out he texts a group chat with Him, Intern, and Head Nurse in it.
Harlow
⠀> You two did great today.
⠀> I look forward to seeing you guys grow.
Head Nurse
⠀> Shut up and let me sleep
Intern
⠀> see u guys tomorrow! ^_^
Head Nurse
⠀> see you tomorrow I guess.
