Work Text:

“Staten Island!”

“Ah, Staten Island!” Frank barks. He is done with this. With Spiderman, and with the random chick he brought over.

You’re in the house napping, and the last thing he needs is a visit from the vigilante when he could still be in bed with you. Watching you subconsciously fiddle with his larger hands, eyeing your chest as it rises and falls, kissing every inch of your face.

“What more do you want me to do? I literally saved your life!”

But the friendly neighborhood nuisance just had to stop by.

”You’re outta your mind, kid!”

The older man hopes you can’t hear him from inside the hideout, hopes you’re still sleeping like a baby even through the bickering.

“What, do I gotta save it twice to get a favor out of you?”

”That guy couldn’t hit me with a handful o’ rice-“

“Frank?”

Everyone falls quiet at the new voice, and Frank is quick to turn around and find you stood behind him and rubbing your eyes. Your dark semi-sheer robe covers your tiny satin nightgown well enough, only your boyfriend can see your beautiful body with the distance between you two and the others. You’re still half asleep from what it looks like, your hair just barely messed and your voice softer from the rest.

Peter’s face under the mask is nothing short of bewildered. “Frank, who’s that?” the younger man asks, voice curious and upbeat enough to irritate the older of the two. You don’t seem to hear him though, giving an absentminded hum as you take in the colorful sky that surrounds the setting sun before walking up to your partner.

Frank sighs, shaking his head in disbelief as he turns away from the masked man to greet you with a kiss on the top of your head. His voice is unusually gentle as he speaks to you, a stark comparison to his unapologetic shouts from just a moment ago. “Hey, honey. ’M sorry, did I wake y’ up?”

“You have a girlfriend?” Spiderman asks loudly, his voice a bit higher in shock. You and Frank ignore him.

“Mm-mm,” you answer Frank’s question reassuringly with a faint shake of your head, “you’re fine, don’t worry. Just a… just a bad dream. Can you hold me?”

“Sure can,” he murmurs, an arm wrapping around your waist and guiding your body into his. Peter isn’t sure what to do, turning away from you two and meeting MJ’s confused and annoyed glare with a lost look of his own.

As you gradually wake up more, you turn your head and your eyes squint as you try to identify the company. “Frank, am I tripping or is that Spiderman at our front door?”

Frank sighs again. “Yep, that’s him.”

“Hi, Frank’s girlfriend!” Spiderman calls out. You’re not as annoyed by the kid’s presence as your partner, but you’re not awake enough to handle interacting with a whole new person - especially not one with a voice as excitedly loud as his.

“I was wondering where you went… he sounds younger than I expected,” you mumble, your head returning to his neck as one of your hands meets his against your waist.

“He sure acts young,” he remarks with a huff.

“Is that good or bad?”

“What d’you think, dollface?” he returns the question, earning a light laugh from you as he gives a few pecks against your temple.

“You don’t sound too happy, I’ll go with the latter,” you answer in a mumble, lightly running your fingers against the back of his hand.

“That’s a smart girl,” Frank praises, pulling you in closer. “He’s dumpin’ that other kid at our house, or tryin’ to.”

You look over at MJ.

“She’s pretty,” you say, more to yourself than him, before proceeding to ask her a few questions. “What’s going on, hon? What’re you doing all the way out here?”

“You tell me!”

“What’s your name?”

“…MJ?”

“Look, Frank, please,” Spiderman interjects, voice desperate. “You owe me. And I need her safe.”

“Like hell, I owe you!”

What follows is another cacophony of arguing about some mess called Staten Island, one that ends with Spiderman turning to MJ and asking for her two cents.

“MJ, what does that sound like to you?

Her response is stiff and fast. “I don’t care, I just wanna go home.”

Frank gives a clap and butts in. “That’s an excellent idea. Kick rocks, go home!” Spiderman’s quick to attempt objection.

“Wait, wait, Frank-“

“I like her,” you say, quiet and reserved but heard loud enough to silence the room like you did before. You turn to face your boyfriend with a small smile, the one that always makes his heart so malleable.

“Can we let her stay? We got the extra room, right?”

“Well, yeah, but-“

“But what, babe? She’s polite and she doesn’t seem as… pushy as her little friend-“

“I heard that!” Peter chirps.

Shut up, kid.”

Frank snorts at the reaction your deeper voiced command pulls from Spiderman, a surprised gasp and an embarrassed look down at the ground below him. You resume.

“She doesn’t seem to be a pain, poor girl doesn’t even know what’s going on. Besides, she’ll probably be in and out.”

Probably? Sweetheart, I do not wanna deal with this kid-”

“C’mon, Frankie, please?”

Frankie?” Spiderman can’t help but repeat, voice baffled. Now he’s starting to get on your nerves too, the unprecedented awakening already fogging your head with an annoyance only Frank can distract you from.

“What’d I just tell you? You must think you’re above the program cause of your powers, is that it? Quiet!” you snap in your grumpy haze before you let slip a disgruntled sigh, voice darker and jolting the younger boy back into surrender. Frank watches this with a slight disbelieving raise of his eyebrows; he wouldn’t have expected your post-nap self to be the one to knock him down a peg, but damn, he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t enjoying the spectacle.

“How bad was that dream y’had? Jesus, honey, you’re ownin’ the place.” he muses in quiet but genuine admiration, feeling your hand squeeze his in a nonverbal thanks. Your lower, louder, more warmed up voice is here to stay for your next words.

“Babe, the sooner we agree, the sooner he’s out of our hair. I vote we keep her, for two nights at most.”

Frank groans, both at the thought of giving in to Spiderman’s wishes and at the fact that you’re painstakingly right. But just for you, he caves.

“Y’know what, fine. Kid, you’re lucky you came at the right time.”

That’s the spirit,” you murmur in muted but genuine celebration, stealing a kiss from the corner of his mouth before turning to face the two guests again. “Spiderman, do what you need to and don’t bother me. And MJ - you need something to eat?”
