Mizuki stretched, a yawn escaping her mouth. The day's schedule had been packed to the brim with activities and the exhaustion was setting in fast. The rest of the group was beginning to pack up, prepared to head back to the dorms to get a good rest. Mizuki, on the other hand, had one more stop to make.
She traversed through the winding corridors of the agency, making her way to where the studios were. Only one — three down from where she stood — had the door sign lit up. Given the time of the day, or more accurately, night, there was only one person under the entire label who would be practicing. If that wasn't enough, Mizuki could already hear her sharp and clear vocals through the layers of soundproofing.
The moment there was a break in the belting, Mizuki knocked. Moments later, the door opened to reveal Ena.
"Done with practice?"
"Yep. Airi decided to take it easy since we had that performance earlier today."
"Sounds like the Airi I know." Ena said as she ushered Mizuki in. "And let me guess, the fans were asking about us again."
Mizuki laughed before planting a kiss on Ena's cheek. "You know how it goes. They seem preeeeetty obsessed with our lil 'rivalry'."
Ah yes, the long standing 'rivalry' between Amia and Enanan. What started out as playful quips and jabs at the other's visual position turned into a battle for who was the better visual. Neither had expected it to get to this scale, but trust fans to blow things far out of the water. As long as no one got toxic over it (which they made it clear to their fans it was a friendly rivalry), Mizuki was fine with keeping the competition alive.
Ok maybe it was a bit of wishful thinking. There'll always be toxic fans. But if most were sensible, that was more than enough in today's age.
Plus, it made scrolling social media quite fun. Every time they shared a stage together, there would be a plethora of posts breaking down every tiny action they made, paired with clips of their banter. Sometimes, Mizuki would even look for posts with shipping intent just to see how fans portrayed them. Sure, their personalities were not a 1-to-1 with the real Mizuki and Ena — no doubt from them hamming up certain traits on stage — but hey, some of them gave really good date ideas.
Ena would surely whack her on the shoulder if she found out.
"—spacing out again?" Ena's voice pulled her back to reality, finding the brunette facing her, arms crossed and a pouty expression plastered on her face.
Mizuki put her hands up in a false surrender, singing in a playful voice, "caught me red handed. What are you going to do about it?"
Ena huffed before grabbing the neckline of her shirt and pulling her in for a quick kiss.
"I dunno about that Enanan, that's not really a punishment y'know?~"
"Then I'm bringing Airi next time I go to a cafe."
"No! I take that back! Ena!"
"Hm… let me think about it…"
Deep down, Mizuki knew Ena was only dragging this on just to mess with her — she probably had a list of cafes to drag her to stored somewhere on her phone. Even still, Mizuki decided to play into it just a bit more, "please?"
"Fine."
Mizuki cheered, pulling Ena into a hug and peppering her cheek with kisses.
"Love you, you dork."
"Love you too~ Now let me hear you sing."
"Fine. But you better not space out again!"
