How Are You My Brother

Work Text:

"Ginro, are you slacking on the job again?" Kinro had stood behind his little brother, who was sitting on a rock while staring into a big pool of water, a pond actually. It had ducks in it. And fish.

Ginro looked up from the rock he was sitting on, his older brother Kinro staring down at him as he stood behind him. Ginro smiled sheepishly up at him. "Uuh... Noooo." He said, not very convincing at all. His older brother pinched the bridge of his own nose, his glasses hiking up to his forehead as he did so. Kinro let out an irritated sigh. Why must his little brother be like this?

"I told you you need to pull your own weight in this job." Kinro told him after a minute. Ginro groaned slightly at that. "But today is soo boring! It's not like how it was before!" Kinro glanced down at his brother again. "That's a good thing. It means less danger." Ginro raised his eyebrow at Kinro. He knew his brother meant "you won't be in danger" but he refused to say it like that. He knew his brother was protective of him. "But-" "No buts. Come back to the car so we can keep an eye out together."

Ginro sighed again and got up and slowly followed Kinro to the car again. Nearby, a pretty woman was blowing bubbles for a couple kids to pop. They were laughing happily and she glanced over and seemingly smiled at Kinro and Ginro as they went to the car. That gave Ginro a boost in confidence. He started walling with a swagger. His brother gave him a look and sighed again.

"Ginro." He started, then his brother spoke, "whaatt? I'm not doing anything wrong!" Kinro turned as they reached the car, "you're doing that weird walk again. Plus, that woman is too old for you. Stop that." Ginro rolled his eyes. "You say that about a lot of people I seem into." "Because most of them are." Kinro stated simply. Then he put a hand on Ginro's head. "That, and you're too young to date."

"I'm only a couple years younger than you." Ginro stated as he looked up at his brother. "I don't care. You're too young." Ginro rolled his eyes again. "You're too protective." "Ginro." "I know, I know."
