Work Text:
Vox didn’t know what to expect after The Might of Lilith exploded. He figured there would be nothing. He figured he would just cease to be aware of anything at all entirely.
Instead he was in a very unfamiliar place. Metal walls all around, bright lights surrounding a small table upon which someone in armor was lying, curled up in pain, and on either side of the table stood two people: a living, breathing human and… Vox wasn’t sure what the other person was, exactly. They weren’t human, but they couldn’t be a demon either. Could they?
Any and all humans in Hell were dead and turned into demons upon arrival.
Vox moved closer to get a better look. Then they looked up at him.
“Hmm. Don’t recognize you from area… don’t recognize your species either. A screen for a head— curious. No mercenary uniform. Quarantine still in effect.”
“Quarantine?” Vox repeated blankly.
“Professor Solus, who are you talking to?” the human woman asked. Professor Solus, huh? Vox raised a brow at the words that followed the name— could she not see him?
“Cannot see the newcomer?” Solus asked her.
She shook her head, her brows furrowed as she looked at him.
“Fucking seriously?! I’m right here! Hello!” Vox stood right in front of her and shoved his face forward until it was inches from hers. She didn’t even notice. “What the hell is going on?! I’m literally standing right in front of…”
He reached a hand out to grab her shoulder, but his fingers just phased right through.
“… you?”
“Could be stress,” Solus said. “Have been working nonstop for days. But cannot rest yet. Too much work to do. Vulgar apparition will have to wait.”
“The fuck did you just call me?”
